We took our baby to Dr Sood because he'd had diarrhea for 3 weeks and was chronically very spewy. Dr Sood diagnosed gastroenteritis, which is fine, but he also told us we shouldn't feed our (exclusively breastfed and four months old) baby more than every 3-4 hours, and that when he cried for milk sooner than that we should "put cotton wool in [our] ears". We've since been told by NHS doctors and health visitors that this is very old-fashioned advice that could cause dehydration in a diarrhetic baby. He also said to give 6 feeds a day, but we realised when we got home that it's not possible to follow both pieces of advice without waking him up in the night for extra night feeds! (We did tell Dr Sood that our baby sleeps 11 hours at night with just one night feed, but he didn't seem to believe us?)

I had micro-TESE surgery with Mr Alnajjar and the entire experience was exceptional. He successfully retrieved sperm for us, which has now given us the chance to move forward with IVF next year. Our first initial consultation with Dr Cerra was good, but we felt as though the length of the appointment could have been longer. We had so many questions and we were limited on time, which meant a few things had not been covered that we subsequently read on our consent forms etc so had to clarify this with our NHS coordinator prior to signing the forms. Longer appointment times would remedy this. During the collection, we didn’t speak to Dr Cerra much but we felt we were in good hands. He didn’t get our hopes up nor was negative which I think is hard to get that balance right during such an uncertain procedure.

Dr. Menon was kind and efficient and listened to me when I queried whether a throat spray which he mentioned was necessary. I made it very clear to the members of staff when I woke up from my procedure that I felt incredibly dizzy and sick. However 30 minutes after I was brought back to the unit I was discharged. Even my husband told the nurses that I was still dizzy and felt nausea. We got home and I slept for three hours.
