Mr Lamah was considerate in listening to my concerns and clearly and concisely outlined pros and cons of possible surgery and when asked what he would do in my situation, he was sufficiently open and able to clearly explain his recommendations. His manner and information was a significant help in enabling me to make a decision about my future. Without entering into detail, Mr Lamah also provided support for a non medical matter which I found to be very encouraging. Much busier than on my first visit to a different consultant a few years ago , which I think reflects the state of the local NHS hospital . Also ( this may now be true of other Nuffields I have visited in the past ) the little refinements are sadly gone - coffee and tea now self service and in a cardboard cup / mug, and no biscuits . No newspapers . These things may be hangovers from the Covid pandemic , but they could surely be reinstated now , as they definitely distinguish private from National Health spaces . The only aspect about “ going private “ these days that certainly is different is the speed with which one can make an appointment .

I ruptured a hamstring at DL Cambridge at ~12.30pm - I was completely immobile and in pain. I booked an appointment at the Perfect Balance clinic with Alex at 2pm. After assessment, She was able to apply a compression dressing which allowed me to stand and walk to the car to be driven home. Further detailed assessment is planned in around 7 days. I am most grateful for access to such expertise and experience so soon after sustaining the injury.

My consultation with Prof Rick Steeds was informative and reassuring. Prof Steeds is clearly extremely knowledgeable and at the top of his field, but he is also very human and thoughtful - which I believe elevates the entire experience. The waiting area facilities and decor was pleasant. I particularly liked some of the large linear abstract paintings and the modern globe chandeliers.

I was referred to Mr Rao by the NHS due to extended waiting times at Lewisham Hospital. The NHS surgeon had recommended a procedure to remove bone fragments from behind my left knee. Mr Rao arranged for an X-ray, which was done immediately. On review Mr Rao strongly advised against surgical intervention. I understand the reasons and I am happy to try a knee brace (I have ordered one).
