Dr. Sukhbir Dhamrait

Dr Sukhbir Singh Dhamrait is a leading consultant cardiologist who works across a number of hospitals. He is highly experienced in all aspects of cardiology, with a subspecialty in interventional cardiology (angioplasty and stent insertion surgery) both from the femoral (groin) and radial (wrist) arteries. He treats conditions including angina, valvular heart disease, hypertension, heart failure, cardiomyopathy, atrial fibrillation and cardiac arrhythmias.

An expert in a wide range of procedures, Dr Dhamrait regularly performs cardiac catheterisation, coronary angioplasty and primary angioplasty for the emergency treatment of heart attacks, amongst other procedures. He also carries out the implantation of pacemakers, defibrillators (ICD) and loop recorders.

He is able to use a number of different tests to diagnose heart conditions, including electrocardiograms (ECG), echocardiograms, cardiac CT scans, cardiac MRI scans and nuclear cardiology.

After qualifying with First Class Honours and Distinction in Medical Sciences and a First Class Honours BSc in Biomedical Sciences, Dr Dhamrait went on to complete his PhD in Medicine at University College London. He then carried out his senior Cardiology clinical training at three centres of international excellence - The Heart Hospital (University College Hospitals London), St Bartholomew's Hospital and The London Chest Hospital. During this time, he was part of the team responsible for setting up a Transcatheter Aortic Valve Implantation programme (keyhole valve surgery).

Dr Dhamrait has over 25 scientific publications, including having a paper published in The Lancet, and continues to have active research interests.
