This was a positive experience. Srijune was so very kind and helpful in my pre- treatment discussion, administration of anti biotic medication and questionnaire. She offered to hold my hand during the injection, made sure I was okay, ensured I had some tea and biscuits whilst waiting before I could leave and came to let me know that it was safe for me to leave. She also answered my call when I got home as I’d felt a cramp-like pain in my calf . Thanks Srijano Mr Jones was kind, genial, professional and as gentle as he could be with the procedure. He chatted to me during the procedure , telling me about the scan that was showing the fluid on/ around my knee and was happy to answer my question about what the fluid was that he was removing etc. He told me that I’d get a call from him in a few months time to check how I’m getting on rather than a face to face follow up. I was given assorted leaflets with exercises, ICRS registry , free online rehab programme and physiotherapists Charlie and Nick at the Better team . I was thrilled when I went to walk out of the hospital, to find that I was able to walk normally without any limping. Yes the anaesthetic was probably helping but it made me feel positive about the treatment . I expect it’ll be a little tender once that has worn off but fingers crossed all will be well .

As a someone who has never experienced detox/rehab, group therapy, meetings, psychiatric evaluation or support and with very little exposure to discussion or open dialogue about my addition or indeed addiction in general it would have been helpful to have a better introduction/orientation to the process, perimeters, etiquette etc. I full appreciate the variables and ambiguities in an environment such as this but even being aware of what they might be would have been helpful. I felt my length of stay and the detox treatment was minimised and at times mocked, invalidating my treatment, commitment and if I’m honest, my character. I felt ridiculous and vulnerable and two particular group sessions. I would never have mocked anyone else’s efforts or derided anyone on their multiple attempts at recovery but if I had I would have fully expected to be challenged for doing so - I didn’t feel there was anyone interested in challenging the negativity directed towards me and it left me feeling quite isolated and undermined.

Mr Sanjoy Basu

Mr Basu is an excellent surgeon and a really wonderful man. He has carried out two recent surgical procedures on both my wife and I. My wife was for the removal of her gall bladder and mine was for a complicated inguinal hernia. We are both in our mid 70's On both occasions Mr Basu was wonderful, on our first meeting he explained the procedure to us in plain language that we could understand, he put us at ease and gave us total confidence in the procedure that he would carry out. On the day of the procedure he came and met us in the private room and he again discussed what he was going to do and why. He allayed all our fears and was so friendly and empathetic and put us totally at ease. Both procedures went perfectly with excellent results and when we met him for our follow up appointments he was so caring and friendly. Mr Basu is wonderful and a wonderful and caring man. Thank you Mr Basu.

I was treated extremely kindly and it made such a difference. Everyone who works there deserves a massive thank you. I didn’t feel judged, not once. Respectful, polite and friendly and very, very prepared. I felt that I was in safe hands and I really appreciated all the security protocols. My only suggestion to make things even better, would be to have an indoor waiting area available for clients who are asked to arrive at 7am. It was not much fun waiting in the dark, in the rain, in the cold to be let in for 20 odd minutes. But as soon as that hurdle was overcome, everything went so well and a lot of that was because of the efforts of the team. They’re great. I really loved my sandwich too!

I accompanied my 98 years old Mother for her appointment with Professor Ayliffe. He reviewed my Mother’s OCT scan and made the decision that she didn’t need an injection at this time and that he would see her again in April to review her condition. He fully explained his rationale for this decision. My Mother has been a patient of Professor Ayliffe since 2018 when he diagnosed her with macular degeneration. During this time, we have been totally satisfied with treatment my Mother has received from Professor Ayliffe. He has always been very caring towards my Mother and has always fully explained any treatment he has given. Both my Mother and I have total confidence in his treatment of her.

My recent visit to see Mr Butler was a very pleasant experience. It was to discuss my procedure which was a Left Inbone prophecy Total ankle arthrodesis. Mr Butler explained the total procedure and what to expect post op. He was very clear and made me feel very confident in a successful outcome. Post op Mr Butler came to see me and discussed the procedure informing me that it was successful but said that it was a difficult operation. I am now in the recovery stage and looking forward to getting back on my feet. Now looking forward to seeing Mr Butler in the near future to discuss my progress to full fitness. I am very impressed with Mr Butler through all stages of this ankle replacement.

Dr Pavlidis saw me as I am in my late 50's and have high cholesterol levels and have done for many years, although my diet is good and I exercise regularly. He recommended that I started taking statins. I was sceptical of this at first, however, Dr Pavlidis made a logical and compelling case for doing so, which made absolute common sense. I have been on statins now for around 4 months, have had no adverse side effects, and my cholesterol levels have reduced significantly. It's one tiny pill a day but it could extend my life.

Dr Tang was simply wonderful. He was very kind, gentle and understanding of my worries and health problem. He explained the procedures well and reassured me. After the endoscopies he reported back and explained clearly what he had found. All the staff at Hadley Wood were also extremely friendly, competent and reassuring, particularly Nurse Grace. Dr Tangs secretary was extremely efficient and friendly. She was quick to respond to my messages and ensured my consultations and treatment happened smoothly and speedily.

I found Prof Kochhar very easy to relate to and he was able to identify the reasons for the issues i was encountering quickly. He diagnosed a steroid injection once it became clear that the intervention was necessary which relieved my pain almost immediately. He then referred my to a physio who was able to treat me. Overall it was a pleasure to be treated by the Professor.
