Mr. Denosshan Sri graduated from the University of Cambridge with a double first and completed his subspecialty urological training in South West London. He subsequently undertook a highly competitive fellowship in robotic kidney cancer surgery at Frimley Park Hospital before being appointed as a Consultant Urologist at St George’s Hospital in 2021 — one of London’s largest trauma and tertiary referral centres.
Mr. Sri’s practice focuses on robotic kidney and prostate cancer surgery, and he currently leads the delivery of kidney cancer surgery and major trauma within the South West London Referral Network.
His subspecialty expertise lies in the management of kidney and prostate cancers, with a strong emphasis on robotic and minimally invasive surgical techniques. He is among a select group of surgeons in Europe specialising in robotic retroperitoneal partial nephrectomy, a pioneering procedure he introduced to South West London. This technique, now established as the standard of care for kidney cancer in the region, offers significant benefits to patients, including shorter hospital stays — often just one day — and faster recoveries.
Mr. Sri’s robotic practice also encompasses nerve-sparing radical prostatectomy for prostate cancer and complex reconstructive procedures for upper tract and pelvic pathology. He remains committed to nephron-sparing surgery even in challenging kidney cancer cases, prioritising the preservation of renal function while maintaining excellent oncological outcomes.
In addition to his cancer practice, Mr. Sri manages a broad range of general urological conditions in both men and women. He has a particular interest in benign prostate disorders and offers modern, minimally invasive, day-case surgical options such as GreenLight laser prostatectomy and Rezum therapy. He also provides robotic solutions for benign conditions, including female incontinence, ureteric obstruction and strictures, and reconstructive pelvic and upper tract pathologies.
Mr. Sri maintains a broad NHS practice, contributing to both benign and cancer multidisciplinary team (MDT) meetings. He also performs surgery for common inguinal, functional, and peno-scrotal conditions, including vasectomy, and offers comprehensive diagnostic evaluation for a wide range of urological concerns such as haematuria, elevated PSA, urinary tract infections, incontinence, lower urinary tract symptoms, and suspected malignancy.
As a high-volume robotic surgeon, Mr. Sri performs over 175 robot-assisted upper tract and pelvic procedures annually. Over the course of his career, he has accumulated extensive robotic experience, including more than 1500 robotic upper tract and pelvic procedures during his training at St George’s Hospital, fellowship at Frimley Park Hospital and subsequent consultant practice.
He leads the St George’s Robotic Fellowship Programme, training the next generation of surgeons and mentoring consultant colleagues in robotic techniques. He also plays a key role in expanding the application of robotic surgery into female and functional urology, including procedures for urinary incontinence, through close collaboration with subspecialty colleagues.
Alongside his clinical work, Mr. Sri is actively involved in research and surgical education. He has published extensively in peer-reviewed journals on prostate, kidney, and bladder cancer, as well as robotic reconstruction, and has contributed to book chapters. He serves as a principal investigator in clinical trials and regularly teaches and lectures at national and international courses and conferences.

I had a very good consultation with my questions and concerns sympathetically listened to and discussed professionally.
Exceptional care throughout the whole process. I am most grateful.
I was diagnosed with early-stage prostate cancer, and fortunately it was caught soon enough that surgery was still an option. At 71, this was not an easy decision to make. From my very first appointment, Dr. Shri came across as highly professional, knowledgeable, and genuinely caring. He took the time to explain the full range of options honestly and clearly, which gave me great confidence that I was in safe hands. I decided to go ahead with the operation, and it went as smoothly as I could have hoped. Dr. Shri performed the surgery and ensured I was well supported throughout my recovery. Now, one year on, I have almost fully healed and there has been no sign of cancer. I cannot thank Dr. Shri enough for his skill, integrity, calm confidence, and truly compassionate care. An exceptional doctor—one I would recommend without hesitation.
Very confident and professional doctor
Excellent and informative
Professional as well as friendly and an amazing surgeon.
Very reassuring manner and willing to accommodate patient wishes and limitations.
Mr Sri has looked after me throughout my prostate cancer journey. He took my biopsies, saw me in clinic appointments and then performed my robotic prostate surgery. He has been a joy to have as a consultant, professional yet kind and warm. Excellent communication skills and clearly surgical skills to match. My nerve sparing surgery went very smoothly, I was entirely continent once the catheter was removed and so far the signs suggest I am cancer free. I could not have hoped for a better outcome. I would 100% recommend Mr Sri for anyone else on a similar journey.
Mr Sri has made my experiences very easy to deal with and I have felt that everything moved swiftly and professionally, with scans and procedures booked quickly and easy to understand follow ups.
⸻ I saw Mr Sri for prostate surgery and felt confident in his care from the outset. He explained everything clearly, took time to answer my questions, and made sure I understood the options and likely outcomes. His calm and straightforward manner was very reassuring throughout. The surgery and follow-up were well managed, and I felt genuinely supported at every stage. I’m very grateful for his care and would highly recommend him.

Around one in eight men in the UK will be diagnosed with prostate cancer, making it currently the most common cancer diagnosis in the UK. In most cases, prostate cancer is a slow-growing cancer and can be effectively treated with surgery. Using technological advancements to perform surgery, including innovations such as da Vinci® surgical systems, mean that functional and cancer outcomes for prostate cancer surgery have significantly improved over the last decade. Here, we will take a closer look at prostate cancer, its treatment and outcomes.
