From the first time meeting Joe I was instantly impressed and thoroughly informed of the different options I had to help with my hearing. I had a referral to Mr Manjaly in UCLH, and ended up in one wellbeck with him as decided to go down the cochlear implant route. Mr Manjaly never failed to go above and beyond for me and my case and I was always impressed with his level of care.

The care I received from Dr Manjaly was exceptional and I cannot express how grateful I am for his patience and warmth throughout the process. Being diagnosed with right ear Cholesteatoma at 31 was something quite personal to me as I have a passion for music production, where stereo balance and frequency range is key. From diagnosis to aftercare, as well as all of my anxious emails, Dr Manjaly never failed to promptly respond with patience and care. The nature of his personality is truly comforting. He always provided detailed information along with right balance of re-assurance and managing expectations - which is what I needed this at such an anxious time. He also helped me wrap up my health insurance which was far more than he needed to do - I felt he went that extra mile for his clients. Such quality healthcare is something I feel blessed to have had and feel truly grateful. I am aware of how valuable time is to Doctors and I have had many a rushed appointment with other Doctors - Dr Manjaly dedicated his time to this process and I felt truly looked after. Thankfully, I had a successful operation with removal of the disease, a fairly smooth recovery and my hearing has improved since!

I’ve seen many ear consultants. Joe stands out from the pack. His bedside manner is so calming and he is super clear with explanations on what the operation will entail. He has a wonderful calming smile.

Mr Joseph Manjaly is an incredible doctor/surgeon who is clearly an expert in his field. I found him professional and his approach to care was 'patient centered' Right from my very first appt, he showed empathy, compassion, and kindness which were second to none. I felt that he ‘truly got’ and ‘genuinely cared’ about how my deteriorating hearing was impacting both my personal and professional life. Without a doubt, he is the most caring, thorough and respectful doctor I have ever met, and I cannot recommend him highly enough for anyone considering Cochlear Implant surgery.

Dr Manjaly was immediately a doctor who cared about the patient as an individual. His approach was one of understanding and kindness from the offset - simply put - he made the entire ear surgery experience from initial consultation and diagnosis through surgery and aftercare - the best possible experience. I think without his insight, professionalism and good humour the treatment of my Surfer's Ear (exostosis) would have been a very different journey. The fact that his team were equally lovely was a complete bonus. I owe him my deepest thanks for getting my hearing back, for calling me multiple times to listen and reassure me, and for just being a wonderful human being.

Joseph was reassuring through the process. He has a very kind and caring manner. Cannot fault him

From the moment I met Mr Manjaly, I was put at ease and knew I was in the right hands. I have Single Sided Deafness and was looking into the option of a Cochlear implant. My Manjaly understood, cared and was very knowledgeable about SSD and how CI is a good option. He listened to me about my concerns and how it effects my life, and at not one point did I feel like he wasn't caring about everything I was saying. He talked in great detail my options, how the CI works and how it could help me. I was able to leave with enough information to make the right decision and since having the surgery I don't regret a thing. Meeting Joseph has been the best thing to happen in a very long time. My life has been completely changed, I met him Jun 10th and by the start of August I had the surgery. After the surgery if I ever have any questions, he takes the time to listen and answer. I would highly recommend talking with Joseph what ever stage you are at with your Single sided deafness or any hearing issues!

I cannot speak highly enough of Mr Manjaly. On every level his care is superb. He listens attentively and he seems to remember far more than is probably in his notes as I discovered on a return visit more than a year after my first one. He explains everything fully and in a way that the lay person can understand. His manner is patient, thoughtful and reassuring, something that I particularly value as a sufferer of ‘white coat syndrome’!

Mr Manjaly came highly recommended to us through a friend and he certainly is a very friendly, lovely, highly skilled surgeon who provided my 7 year old son with such amazing care. He was excellent at explaining everything, brilliant at helping you feel at ease and walking you through the process, very quick to answer any questions sent via email and always provided that extra touch to ensure you’re being well looked after. Our son has had 2 operations with Mr Manjaly and he is certainly the best man to help you out! I highly recommend Mr Manjaly!

More than 40% of people over 50 have some degree of hearing loss. It is now recognised as the biggest modifiable risk factor for developing dementia. Yet it often remains undiagnosed, and it’s been estimated that people wait an average of 10 years before seeking a referral. Many people still have the misconception that hearing loss only affects the elderly and is just part of ageing 🤯 The good news is wearable hearing tech is going to be much more normalised in the next generation, and that will hopefully reduce anxiety and stigma around making hearing loss visible.

What happens if someone finds hearing aids impossible to use? There can be a few different reasons for this: anatomy, repeated infections, the discomfort of blocking ear canals, problems with distortion, whistling & feedback, cosmetic concerns & 'device hassle'. Nowadays we have more options for this group of patients. One such device is the MED-EL VIBRANT Soundbridge implant which bypasses the ear canal and delivers sound directly to the ossicles behind the ear drum. It is suitable for people with different types of mild, moderate and severe hearing loss. The days where people are left to struggle on needn't be the case anymore, and awareness is still growing regarding these technologies. This video shows the surgery to fit the implant. It is not sponsored or endorsed by MED-EL but we are always grateful for the support of all the hearing implant manufacturers we work with.
