I was recommended to Dr Manjaly following ongoing issues and previous surgery to my ear. From the initial consultation meeting, Dr Manjaly has demonstrated absolute professionalism and excellent patient care, with experience and knowledge that fully put me at ease. Dr Manjaly performed my ear surgery in February with Dr Peter Thomas the Anaesthetist who was extremely professional and knowledgeable with support from Nurse Caroline who was also very caring and kind. All of the team put me at ease, ensured I was comfortable and sincerely listened to any concerns I had. I am truly grateful for their support and care. I have recently had a follow up appointment after surgery and am extremely happy with the results.

I wanted to take a moment to share my experience with Dr. Manjaly and the exceptional care I received at OneWelbeck. Since birth, I have grappled with hearing loss, which significantly impacted my daily life and ability to engage fully in social settings and at work. Despite trying various hearing aids, I found them ineffective and ultimately opted for surgery. From the initial consultation to the post-operative care, Dr. Manjaly's expertise, professionalism and genuine concern for my well-being were evident. Despite my apprehensions about the surgery, Dr. Manjaly patiently explained the procedure and the associated risks, alleviating my fears and instilling confidence in me. I am thrilled to report that the surgery has been life-changing. For the first time, I can fully participate in conversations, enjoy social gatherings and appreciate the rich tapestry of sounds around me. I cannot express enough how grateful I am to Dr. Manjaly and the entire team for their exceptional care and support throughout my journey. Their professionalism, empathy and commitment to patient care are truly commendable. In conclusion, I am beyond satisfied with the treatment I received at OneWelbeck and I would highly recommend Dr. Manjaly to anyone seeking expert care for hearing-related issues. Thank you once again for changing my life for the better!

If going to a doctor can be pleasurable this was it! I came to Mr Manjaly with severe dizzyness and as it turned out wax in an ear where the eardrum had a perforation. From start to finish - removing wax and ultimately closing up the perforation he was kind, patient, considerate and took the time to listen He explained everything and was reassuring.

I have had both sided performed ears and hearing loss from a young age and always just got on with it. I have explained to Mr Manjaly the severity of the situation and incredibly he was able to help. I could not have asked for a better surgeon. After 2 successful tympanoplasty surgeries on both ears, my life has genuinely changed for ever and it’s all thanks to Mr Manjaly. I am very grateful for his skill, professionalism and caring. I can now hear almost flawlessly and I am able to continue working and it feels like he has performed a miracle. Mr Manjaly is the most genuine, nicest, and most caring doctor I’ve ever seen in my life. He went above and beyond to help me with my issue and I can’t thank him enough for his STUNNING service! Thank you again so much!

Mr Manjaly successfully carried out a stapedectomy without an anaesthetic for my 93 yr old father: the restoration of hearing is amazing. Mr Manjaly was clear in his explanations and always straightforward. We are all very grateful.

Mr Manjaly was substituted at the last minute for the consultant who was supposed to perform my stapedectomy. He was absolutely brilliant! He is very experienced in his field and has an excellent bedside manner which made feel at ease. He has always made himself available to me if I had a further hearing issues, often squeezing me into his clinics at the last minute. He is an absolute credit to his profession and the GOAT of the ENT department!

I have had one sided hearing loss from a young age and always just got on with it. I need to have a hearing test every few years with work and at 31 years of age my hearing loss was questioned and it was predicted that I wouldn’t be able to work in a few years. I was sent to Mr Manjaly and explained to him the severity of the situation and incredibly he was able to help. I could not have asked for a better surgeon. Every time we met he put my mind at ease. After the ossiculoplasty surgery, my life has genuinely changed for ever and it’s all thanks to Mr Manjaly. I am very grateful for his skill, professionalism and caring. I can now hear almost flawlessly and I am able to continue working and it feels like he has performed a miracle. Thank you

I presented to Joe with idiopathic sudden sensorineural hearing loss in my right ear. Joe was so thoughtful and reassuring and explained my options and we continued a series of intratympanic steroid injections. I had a total of five injections over a period of two weeks. I returned after week three to find that my hearing had improved from severe hearing loss (80db) in my right ear right back to normal. Joe’s calm measured approach and his expertise at the intratympanic injections reassured me throughout the whole process.

More than 40% of people over 50 have some degree of hearing loss. It is now recognised as the biggest modifiable risk factor for developing dementia. Yet it often remains undiagnosed, and it’s been estimated that people wait an average of 10 years before seeking a referral. Many people still have the misconception that hearing loss only affects the elderly and is just part of ageing 🤯 The good news is wearable hearing tech is going to be much more normalised in the next generation, and that will hopefully reduce anxiety and stigma around making hearing loss visible.

What happens if someone finds hearing aids impossible to use? There can be a few different reasons for this: anatomy, repeated infections, the discomfort of blocking ear canals, problems with distortion, whistling & feedback, cosmetic concerns & 'device hassle'. Nowadays we have more options for this group of patients. One such device is the MED-EL VIBRANT Soundbridge implant which bypasses the ear canal and delivers sound directly to the ossicles behind the ear drum. It is suitable for people with different types of mild, moderate and severe hearing loss. The days where people are left to struggle on needn't be the case anymore, and awareness is still growing regarding these technologies. This video shows the surgery to fit the implant. It is not sponsored or endorsed by MED-EL but we are always grateful for the support of all the hearing implant manufacturers we work with.
