When booking the consultation with Nick Panay, the earliest available date was 2 months in advance. I was required to pay the full £395 under pressure at time, being told that the consultation would be lost unless I paid by 5pm. My understanding that this appointment would be for specialist, in-depth input tailored to a complex clinical history. Given that context, I was disappointed that the consultation felt limited to a reiteration of guideline-based recommendations, with little opportunity to explore causation, individual nuance, or the specific questions I had prepared. At several points during the consultation, I felt that my questions were closed down rather than explored, and the overall tone felt more directive than supportive. Given my long and complex medical history, I had hoped for a more compassionate and collaborative approach. Instead, I left the consultation feeling unheard and dismissed, which was distressing. I had hoped for greater depth and collaborative discussion, particularly in light of the significant upfront cost. I was given no additional value beyond what I already knew and was told in any case, that I required a further consultation to finalise a treatment plan. I have been in contact with the practice and explained that the consultation did not meet the reasonable expectations set by the cost, structure, or positioning of this service. I appreciate that since, I have received a considered response from the Practice Manager and the consultation and fee are being reviewed.

Admin efficiency Things didn't get off to a great start when there seemed to be an issue regarding what my insurance would cover, even though I had received two confirmations from the insurer over the phone and one confirmation by email. I felt a bit like a criminal and that I was lying about the treatment being covered. In the end, the insurer had to phone Practice Plus direct to sort it out, because no-one would believe that I was telling the truth. I've never come across this problem before at the Spire or the Nuffield. Usually the admin trail works very smoothly. Cleanliness The carpet in the waiting area is dirty and is covered in tea/coffee stains. There were pubic hairs on the toilet seat in one of the toilets by the waiting area. Not great at all. Waiting Time I am a private patient and I usually use the Spire in Bristol or the Nuffield, which run to time. My appointment for an injection was 30minutes late. Unacceptable. Staff To be fair, some of the staff are lovely. But some of the staff are downright rude. When I went to speak to one of the receptionists after waiting for my appointment for over 20minutes, I simply asked to check that I was on the system. The answer "yes". Oh I said, it's just that I haven't been called yet. Is there a delay? The answer "yes" - and a roll of the eyes to say "yes and your problem with that is??" I have to have another appointment at some point, so let's hope that my next experience is better.

My experience with CP&R…. has been fantastic…. everyone involved has been so very helpful…Becky….. Angela… Tom…. and my trainer Paddy….. (Patrick)…. he has been beyond amazing… from the start…. nothing but encouraging… always supportive…. I have had quite a few bumps along the way and he has always been so kind…. I feel so much stronger… and more confident…Paddy has a wonderful attitude…. full of kindness and nothing but encouragement…. he works you hard but understands one’s limitations… I cannot praise him highly enough…. and I shall never forget this experience…. he has become a lifelong friend…. and I wish him all the luck in the world going forwards…. I reckon CP&R are very lucky to have him!…. I would also like to say a thank you to you all but to Tom who stepped in a few times and was also so encouraging… and I always loved his texts of support…. Thank you!… Becky and Angela .. thank you too for all your support… although it’s been a much longer journey than I had realised…. out of hard times…… has come a lot of good …meeting you all!…. so a huge never ending thank you….

I had jaw surgery and a wisdom tooth removed, Mr Chiu and his team were very clear about what they would be doing and how my recovery would be. I did have particularly bad swelling and a tough recovery but Mr Chiu was very helpful at explaining all of this and providing information on how to properly recover. The other team members were also very helpful and recommended I rent the face mask cooler to aide my recovery which really helped speed up the swelling going down. My post ops have been extremely good and informative and I have left each one very happy both with the appointment and the progress following surgery. I have anxiety and Mr Chiu was really kind at putting me at ease and letting me know I could take my medication. I am really happy with the outcome of the surgery and how I have recovered. I have had a really positive experience with Mr Chiu and his team and am extremely grateful to all of them!

I recently had a hysterectomy with Mr Wassim Hassan, and the whole experience was smooth from start to finish. He made me feel completely at ease throughout the process, thoroughly explained everything in detail, and was incredibly patient—when I didn’t quite grasp the medical terminology, he rephrased it in simple, everyday language that I could easily understand. His skill and care during the procedure were outstanding, and my recovery has been straightforward. I also want to recognise his assistant Marie—she was superb! Always responsive, helpful, and reassuring, which made coordinating appointments and dealing with any questions so much less stressful. The combination of Mr Hassan’s expertise and Marie’s fantastic support made what could have been a daunting time feel manageable and even positive. Thank you both so much—I couldn’t recommend Mr Hassan and his team highly enough.

On arrival I was taken into a room by the Sister and given an examination, drops and told not to rub my eyes after the Laser. Just a few minutes later I went into see Mr Cazaban, after examination I was told that both eyes now need treatment and agreed to this. the actual Laser treatment was slightly uncomfortable but to be expected. After this Mr Cazaban told me that my surgery was completed and that I should never need further laser treatment. The only complaint I would have was after the initially being told not to rub my eyes I was given no after care information.

Prof Chris Eden was all that I had been led to believe, understanding and sympathetic but wholly focused and professional. He explained the process and outlined the risks of the proposed surgery in clear layman's language that I could understand.. He did not sugar the pill! He carefully reviewed my medical history and identified several issues upon which he has requested additional investigation. I came away totally confident not only in his personal ability but also in the decisions that I have now made regarding my treatment plan. First impressions are very good.

Had an immigration medical appointment for Australia. I was running late and had to reschedule my AM appointment. Sent an email as the call option was automated message but the email was promptly replied and I was rebooked for the next available PM appointment. It meant I had to wait longer but they were swift to accommodate me and the services from reception to chest X-ray and GP examination was brilliant. I was offered the Polio vaccine and a painless blood tests. Overall I recommend 100%.

Initially believed a guided steroid injection had been arranged through our GP. However despite trying to confirm this prior to visit this transpired not to be the case and was told another appointment would need to be booked for a later date. Fortunately Natalie, senior radiologist, was kindly able to arrange a guided steroid injection for that afternoon for which I am very grateful for as it is one hour twenty minutes round trip for us

I had my Bariatric sleeve surgery on 28/10/2025, I was thoroughly looked after from start to finish by Chris, Emma and all the theatre staff. They looked after me when I woke up in a lot of pain post opp and kept me calm. Joseph in Pharmacy helped me with meds to ensure I was not in pain and didn’t have nausea. Already Iv lost over 2.5 stone and feel so much healthier. Thank you to Chris and Emma and everyone else for my great care.

I had paid £250 to see Mr Lau for the same consultation as I had on 7th January, meaning that I am no further along the path of accessing the treatment I’ve waited 21 months for.
