Mr Tev Aho ; HoLeP Review ;October 2025 I was introduced to Mr Aho in October 2025 after my BPH prostate issue of 15 years became troublesome in a matter of weeks; I attended my local A&E as I could not empty my bladder due to something happening in my prostate, resulting in my being catheterised for 7 weeks; My prostate was given an MRI by the NHS, that showed an anomaly , and i was informed i should consider losing my prostate, as Surgery was my only option; I was 66 yrs of age at the time of the surgery; I spoke with Mr Aho, who is an absolute gentleman, with a fantastic bedside manner; He listened to my situation, explained very clearly what a HoLeP would involve, and we agreed to proceed; The procedure took place in London just 12 days after my discussion with Mr Aho, and all went well; I was discharged the next day, in my case with a catheter after my 2 months with one, and this was removed after 6 days; Once removed, i had no issues and found that i now had a high pressure ‘firehose’ when i urinated; I experienced no leaks, incontinence , ‘accidents’ etc, and only a mild tingling sensation where the equipment had been inserted for the procedure , that passed after a few weeks; After the catheter was removed, life returned to normal instantly; This is far better than the other surgery options, that can have ongoing issues , and I can’t thank Mr Aho enough for his skills and accepting me as his patient; The alternatives open to me were to horrific to consider; If you are considering this procedure , In my opinion, its by far the best option, and from a patient point of view, simple, quick, home in 2 days, and life gets back to normal fast; Mr Aho is without doubt a Godsend, of whom i have no hesitation in recommending .

Mr Graeme Nicol

I was referred from my local hospital to Mr Nicol, due to his speciality in young adult hips and my diagnosis of hip dysplasia. In my initial consultation, Mr Nicol spent a good duration of time, explaining my hip dysplasia and potential treatment options. With my scans not showing damage to my hip labrum, we discussed my symptoms and likelihood of me experiencing potential trauma to my hip. Mr Nicol appeared confident I was presenting with pain of labrum pathology, something nobody had mentioned before. I went ahead with a hip arthroscopy which did indeed reveal a labral tear and labral detachment with was repaired successfully. Immediately following surgery and in follow up appointments, I’ve been able to contact Mr Nicol with any questions regarding my recovery and felt very reassured. Occasionally, I had some confusion with my initial treatment, discussion of this post surgery etc. but I do consider this is to be because of the complexity of hip bio-mechanics and treatments etc. I would highly recommend Mr Nicol for young people experiencing ongoing hip pain and looking for a second opinion or initial support with treatment options.

Mr Sacheen Kumar

Following my diagnosis of oesophageal cancer, my consultant gastroenterologist strongly recommended referral to Mr Kumar’s team due to the complexity of the surgery required. I was able to see Mr Kumar within 48 hours. He explained the treatment plan clearly, including chemotherapy and an oesophagectomy, and arrangements were put in place immediately. While realistic about the challenges ahead, he was also reassuring and instilled confidence throughout a demanding pre-surgery period. Key decisions were made following careful consideration by Mr Kumar and his highly capable multidisciplinary team, culminating in an 11-hour operation at the Royal Marsden Hospital. Post-operative care has been exemplary, and even while on holiday Mr Kumar took the time to contact me when needed, which speaks volumes about his dedication and professionalism. I would not hesitate to recommend Mr Kumar and his team to anyone requiring upper gastrointestinal surgery.

I have have had previous eye surgery at NW Eye specialist Centre under the care of Dr Bhargava, and was entirely satisfied with the care received and outcome of my operation. On this occasion, I received a very prompt appointment which I was grateful for. The environment in Bangor was spotlessly clean and the receptionist and nurse were very friendly and professional. My consultation was thorough and Dr Bhargava gave explained to me with care and attention the nature of my symptoms and I was given a treatment plan to follow and a follow up appointment to check progress in six weeks. All of this was verified by a consultation letter that was also sent to my GP on the same day. I am very grateful to receive this high standard of care and attention from all of the team involved.

Facilities clean, staff efficient, overall hospital experience very good. Consultation with Dr Angad Dhillon was vey professional. He remembered me from an earlier consultation which was very reassuring and helped me relax as my diagnosis was quite stressful. He explained everything to me in terms I could understand and comprehend. He gave me time to ask questions and answered adequately. I felt very reassured that my care with him and ongoing teams have the best chances of a positive outcome. I will take this opportunity to stress my diagnosis was only due to findings in a routine bowl test which left undiagnosed could have left to much more serious consequences. Thank you to the bowl screening process and the care of above mentioned there after.

I feel very lucky to have had Mr. Vemulapalli as my orthopaedic surgeon. I broke my tib/fib and ankle in August 2023 and didn't feel listen to with my previous consultant. I had a completely different experience with Mr. Vemulapalli as he listed and understood everything I said and acted immediately. Fast forward to feb 2026 after having surgery in December, I am now on the road to full recovery after thinking for a long time that I would be disabled. I have the utmost respect for Mr. Vemulapalli and would recommend him to all my friends and family as he leaves no stone unturned. He is simply the BEST and I am truly grateful to him for everything he has done.

The support at the very beginning when I was accessing the service was excellent - the person I first communicated with was helpful, gentle and kind. I felt able to ask questions and to access the support on my own terms. Getting a regular appointment that suited my needs and schedule was also easy - as a single parent, I really appreciate the flexibility. The portal took a little bit of getting used to but here too, lots of friendly support was available. The counsellor I speak to weekly is just brilliant. They are flexible and kind, and our relationship has evolved according to my needs. It's genuinely changed my life, and I couldn't be more grateful.

Pretty straightforward experience overall. The receptionist on the first floor (the Somali lady wearing a hijab) was extremely kind and helpful. My phone was about to die and I asked if there was any chance of a charger- she went out of her way to help me, which I really appreciated. It’s the small things like that which leave a lasting impression, and that’s exactly why I wanted to leave this review. The only small suggestion I’d make is having oat milk available at the coffee machine for those who don’t have dairy, it would be a thoughtful and considerate touch.

I attended saint marys hospital over a week ago with severe pain from a gallbladder infection. I was informed my infection markers were very high. I was given antibiotics and told to wait several weeks before I could have the gallbladder removed. Then I met Dr Navaratne and his team who arranged for me to have the surgery straightaway. I found cathedral eye clinic a very warm and welcoming practice, its staff were friendly and attentive, the specialist (Gillian ) that dealt with me kept me kept me well informed of the process throughout the eye exam which did put me at ease. Sadly for me my eyes are not suitable for the procedure required, this proved to me that it is not all about pounds shillings and pence with them. Hopefully down the line they can come up with another procedure that will suit me. I would have no hesitation in recommending cathedral eye clinic.

Everything was first class from reception to the nurse checks to the kind person who took me to surgery, the surgeon was nice to talk to, the team in the surgery room were efficient and kind. Back on ward the nurses were so lovely. I had a wobble (previous trauma) which unexpectedly made me emotional. They were so kind, non judgmental and all in particular Anna took time to be human - show human support from one female to another. It was appreciated.

Met the consultant, the short wait for mammogram, short wait for ultrasound and then back in to see the consultant. I was in the building for about 2hrs amd basically had 4 appointments.
