Mr Arbuthnot's explanation of the state of my arthritic knee together with the pain I was experiencing convinced me that a knee replacement wasn't really optional but totally necessary as without an operation I would not be able to walk. On operation day he explained what would happen and the procedures that would take place before the operation. Surgery procedure went well, I received excellent care with every step of my hospital visit/stay being explained and with appropriate reassurance. Post surgical care was also top quality. The only problem I experienced was excessive blistering all around the plaster placed over my wound, this appeared to me to be caused by an allergic reaction to the plaster, the surgeon felt there could be other causes. Anyway I received plenty of post operative care including physio and nursing care (for my blistering around my wound - which was resolved over a few weeks). All in all five stars from me thank you. The surgery proceeded smoothly, and I received excellent care; each stage of my hospital stay was explained with suitable reassurance. Post-surgical attention was equally high quality. The sole issue was extensive blistering around the plaster over my wound, which seemed to stem from an allergic reaction, though the surgeon suggested alternative causes. I nonetheless received ample post-operative support, including physiotherapy and nursing care for the blistering, which settled over several weeks. Overall, I give five stars—thank you.

The pre-operative online information was excellent, although some of the postal correspondence was duplicated. All appointments, consultations and scans were well organised, and staff were welcoming, informative and professional throughout. The operation and immediate post-operative care were very good, with everything clearly explained. However, the following morning felt less organised, and it was concerning to hear staff say they were overstretched. I also experienced some issues with pulse-rate monitoring and post-operative nausea. I mentioned that this could potentially be linked to my use of Mounjaro, but I felt this concern was not fully considered. The discharge process was smooth, the post-operative physiotherapy was excellent, and the online communications worked very well. The final consultation provided a valuable opportunity to discuss my recovery and any concerns. Overall, this was a very positive experience, and I am grateful for the high standard of care I received. Had knee replacement. He gave me every opportunity using other ways before I had the operation to help me. Eventually had the surgery and consultant was professional from start to finish. Explained everything to me. Operation went brilliantly

I had a great experience as expected and found Mr Arbuthnot to be very good at telling you what was happening before and after the operation. He has a great reputation which I can confirm is correct and would not hesitate to recommend him to anyone getting knee surgery.
