In terms of booking I didn’t have the greatest experience. I filled out the form online the night before and got a call the next morning. It cut off before I could answer the phone. I called straight back but it rang out to answer phone. I must have called back more than 10 times that day over the course of a few hours but no response. I finally got through to someone in the afternoon, by this time all the appointments had gone. I was in desperate need of a blood test which had to be done on a certain day of my cycle, hence the urgency. The lady I got through to firstly wrongly assumed I was another patient (a cancer patient) which I thought was unprofessional, as I shared the same surname as another patient. She apologised for not answering the phone and said that she would ‘put me at the top of the list’ and treat me as ‘priority’ and would call me back to let me know if she can fit me in for a blood test. I waited for the rest of the day and never received a call back. I believe the way bookings are dealt with is highly unprofessional and does not reflect the service you say you aim to provide to your clients. I then decided not to keep chasing this appointment as I had a negative experience with the booking staff and the booking process. Two days later I received a call early in the morning which woke me up. The lady realised I was half asleep and apologised for the ‘early morning call’. She asked if I still wanted to book the blood test. I said I would let her know. After some consideration I decided to go ahead with the blood test even though I had missed the ideal window. I then called back and booked, the lady on the phone was evidently a young girl who may be new and clearly lacked customer service training. She was unable to answer basic questions during the booking process and came across as new and untrained. I was then sent an invoice which had an additional 30 pounds added onto the expected 150 charge. The invoice didn’t state what the 30 pounds was for. I called back just to check, and again the girl was unprofessional and could not clearly explain what the fee was for. I would like to stress that I am generally the most down to earth and open minded/non judgemental person. So when I give feedback it is generally from a good place and when I feel a service falls below expectations or standards. Clients pay a lot of money to MUMS for peace of mind and investigations into health concerns. The website suggests a certain level of care and service. I personally feel the booking process and professionalism of the booking staff is quite poor in terms of false promises, not being able to get through when calling over 10 times and untrained staff. However what I will say is when attending in person my experience was a lot better than I had expected given the above and it went quite smoothly in the clinic itself. Please train the young girl on the front desk as she comes across as unprofessional and disengaged even though I know this is not her intention. There is a certain level of customer service a confidence needed to be able to deal with bookings which can often be of a sensitive nature.

    Dr Shalini Chawla

    Obstetrician & Gynaecologist

If you are looking for an obstetrician to truly listen and understand your and your partner’s wishes and concerns around pregnancy and delivery AND an obstetrician who can step up to the highest standard of care in case of an emergency, you can feel confident that Dr Chawla is the right choice. Here’s my story and without being overly dramatic, how Dr Chawla saved my life and the life of my baby. I had a high risk pregnancy due to a bicornate uterus, previous classical cesarean (vertical instead of horizontal incision of the uterus) and previous premature birth. We decided to seek private care when I felt that the midwives I saw didn’t understand the risks I was facing and I was referred to the wrong clinic to discuss my birth plan. I reached out to Dr Chawla after watching her introduction on the UCLH website and a friend who was in her care a year ago recommended her. As I was already 32 weeks pregnant and facing a high risk of uterine rupture, Dr Chawla made time to see me in less than 24 hours after I reached out to her. During our initial appointment, she truly listened to me and my husband, understood our concerns, the risks which we were willing to take and the risks which we were not willing to take. She explained the pros and cons of different choices, backed by data. We knew she was the right doctor for us before we walked out of the appointment. At 34+3 weeks, my uterus did rupture. As soon as I felt any discomfort, I phoned Dr Chawla and she answered on the first ring. She advised me to head to the MFAU at UCLH and keep her posted. Once I was seen at the MFAU, Dr Chawla was able to give instructions to the midwife over the phone and liaise with the team on the labour ward to make sure that my situation was given the urgency it required. Dr Chawla arrived promptly at UCLH and took me to the operating room. She acted with confidence and coordinated the actions of the whole team swiftly, not wasting any time. I lost 3.5L of blood due to the rupture. In this situation, I was facing a potential hysterectomy and even death. But Dr Chawla managed to control the bleeding and save my uterus. Her swift actions made sure that our baby girl is taken out as soon as possible, reducing any birth trauma she could have experienced. She’s doing very well while we are at the neonatal unit establishing feeds before going home soon. Despite the complexity of the surgery, my recovery has been much easier than after my previous c-section. The scar is smaller, it appears thinner and is not painful at all. Dr Chawla visited me frequently during my 3-day stay in the hospital, showing concern for both my physical and emotional recovery. She also reached out after I was discharged. I know that I can seek her advice anytime in case needed. Last but not least, it was very obvious to me that Dr Chawla is extremely highly regarded by all her colleagues at UCLH. Due to the circumstances, we don’t plan for another pregnancy. But if we were to have another baby, I’ll be in Dr Chawla’s care from day 1. I’ll also recommend her to all my family and friends! Thank you, Shalini - our family will be forever grateful to you!

When booking the consultation with Nick Panay, the earliest available date was 2 months in advance. I was required to pay the full £395 under pressure at time, being told that the consultation would be lost unless I paid by 5pm. My understanding that this appointment would be for specialist, in-depth input tailored to a complex clinical history. Given that context, I was disappointed that the consultation felt limited to a reiteration of guideline-based recommendations, with little opportunity to explore causation, individual nuance, or the specific questions I had prepared. At several points during the consultation, I felt that my questions were closed down rather than explored, and the overall tone felt more directive than supportive. Given my long and complex medical history, I had hoped for a more compassionate and collaborative approach. Instead, I left the consultation feeling unheard and dismissed, which was distressing. I had hoped for greater depth and collaborative discussion, particularly in light of the significant upfront cost. I was given no additional value beyond what I already knew and was told in any case, that I required a further consultation to finalise a treatment plan. I have been in contact with the practice and explained that the consultation did not meet the reasonable expectations set by the cost, structure, or positioning of this service. I appreciate that since, I have received a considered response from the Practice Manager and the consultation and fee are being reviewed.

I was diagnosed with a large fibroid, and after many hours of research and careful consideration of different clinics and specialists, I chose to book a consultation with Miss Elena. It was one of the best decisions I could have made. From the very first appointment, Miss Elena’s professionalism, kindness, and calm confidence immediately put me at ease. She took the time to walk me through every treatment option with clarity and patience, making sure I understood each step. Her guidance was thoughtful and reassuring, and she provided all the information I needed to make a truly informed decision about my health. I left the consultation feeling not only well‑informed, but genuinely cared for. Following the consultation, we scheduled the surgery, and the entire process was planned with remarkable attention to detail. I was guided through every step, always knowing what to expect. Throughout the journey, I felt supported, safe, and truly cared for by Miss Elena and her wonderful team. I am extremely happy and deeply grateful for the outstanding care, professionalism, and compassion I received from Miss Elena and her team.

My experience with Mr. David Lawrence may be described as nothing short of FIVE STAR PLUS. From the beginning, Mr. Lawrence has been hugely approachable, friendly and reassuring; he gave me all the information I wanted/needed to know about my surgery and engendered in me a feeling of complete confidence that I was definitely in the safest of hands. Shortly before my surgery, Mr. Lawrence came to see me and although I was very nervous by then, never having had an operation in my life, he managed to make me feel a little more at ease, it was just somehow reassuring to have those few words with him. The operation has been a success and in my opinion - and in the words of Tina Turner - he is 'SIMPLY THE BEST". HUGE "THANK YOU" to Mr. David Lawrence.

Mr Dehne, has given me back my life. I needed a total knee replacement after suffering from an accident. He was very thorough in his explanations and examinations. He was extremely kind and thoughtful as I was extremely nervous about the surgery. He put me at ease and I trusted him implicitly. I’m so glad he was my surgeon, I might have to have my other knee done soon and there is only one man I want to have to do it. He is amazing. I’m totally indebted to him. I can’t put into words how grateful I am to him, Mr Kenan Dehne your are the best , kind and caring. Thank you.

I have been with VIP Hearing in Eastcote since it started. Sarah, I have known for years from previous hearing consultants in the area. Her help and support is beyond excellent. I have been "under" Nick since the beginning and his patience, his advice, his help, his easy explanation of things and especially instilling confidence is superb. I would thoroughly, without hesitation, recommend VIP Hearing in Eastcote and also their branch in Pinner which I have used as well. Their friendliness in both branches and help immediately puts you at ease.

The overall experience was very good. The information beforehand was comprehensive and honest and everything went according to plan. The pain in my knee and leg immediately afterwards still took my breath away but, as Christopher Gooding said they would, things got better. The Nuffield nursing staff were kind and considerate while I was in and my two visits afterwards for taking the staples out and later seeing Mr Gooding were reassuring.

Rohan was recommended to me by a close family member, who is also a medic. They said he was an excellent clinician, and lovely. After just a few interactions I can say both of these things are clearly true. He is an excellent communicator, putting patients at ease with his gentle wit whilst summarising their care with his impressive acumen.
