Mr Marc Laniado

I had a robotic total prostatectomy with nerve sparing, with Mr. Laniado, this June, for prostate cancer. I am 63 y o and otherwise in good health. He came to see me before the surgery and explained the procedure, the risks, the benefits and asked me what I wanted him to do if he could see more disease during the intervention that was seen on the MRI. That was crucial to discuss. Mr. Laniado listened to my concerns, took time to answer my questions, and explained things clearly without rushing and gave me confidence to go forward and put me and my family at ease. He laid out the surgery upsides and downsides. It is well known that after this procedure incontinence and impotence can occur. I was so worried about the need to wear diapers for a period! The operation took 4 hours and was uneventful. I had a suprapubian catheter inserted and was amazing. I recovered very quickly and in less than 24 h I was discharged! I did not develop blood clots or infections or any possible complications that could have happened. I wore the catheter for 10 days and was much easier than I imagined, I could go out and carry on with my life. After 10 days I spent few hours in the catheter clinic and I passed the tests, my catheter was taken out without pain, discomfort or leakage. The wound closed immediately with no problems like leakage or infection. I had no incontinence at all, not once, I did not wear a single pad. I found everybody to be kind, considerate and helpful, making all the arrangements for my diagnosis and treatment so much easier. Mr Laniado was considerate, empathetic and very clear in his explanations of the situation, options, advantages & disadvantages of the different treatment options available. HIs explanations were clear, concise and easy to understand. It was also very clear that all the team respected him hugely, which also created a increased sense of confidence. After unexpectedly being diagnosed with intermediate prostrate cancer, my priority was to get treatment booked in as quickly as possible for my prostrate to be removed. After discussions with family and close friends, I decided to explore private options for removing my prostrate. The overriding factor for going down the private route, was being in control to select the consultant who would perform such a delicate and potentially life changing operation. I located Mr Laniado via a series of online searches and decided to schedule a call. Following our call I was convinced of his calm professionalim having addressed all my concerns. Soon after i booked in robotic surgery with his team. My hospital experience under Mr Laniado was faultless and the operation was a complete success. All the cancer was removed and without any nerve damage to the surroundings areas. I'm extremely thankful to Mr Laniado. His care, knowledge and skills have been extremely calming during such a difficult and stressful period of my life.

I contacted Marc approximately four years ago having read about HIFU treatment for prostate cancer which he was able to provide. Until that time I had been under active surveillance for approximately three years. Marc had full access to my NHS records and was therefore able to provide several options for the treatment of the prostate cancer, one of which included the HIFU treatment. Interestingly, he picked up from my notes that I had a large prostate at circa 100 mls volume which was something I was not aware of although on reflection I was experiencing a slower than normal flow rate of urination. The point being that 100mls was too large for the HIFU treatment which resulted in me having a prostate reduction procedure known as HOLEP which Marc was able to provide. I then went on to have the HIFU treatment. The subsequent MRI scan indicated that Marc had removed all the cancer cells using HIFU. I have since had two follow-up MRI scans which have indicated that there is no evidence of recurring tumour. Furthermore, I have no ongoing issues with urination and sexual activity is normal. I would certainly recommend the HIFI treatment Marc can provide because it meant I was proactive with my condition rather than simply under active surveillance.

Mr.Laniado is absolutely fabulous, he is clear,concise,caring,compassionate and competent. He’s attention to details is excellent and he always explains everything in a simplistic manner and has an amazing ability to put you at ease whilst go through tough decisions.

I am a doctor and was diagnosed with intermediate multifocal prostate cancer Gleason 3+4.
