About Mr Mark Jones
Mr Mark Jones is a highly skilled and experienced Consultant Orthopaedic Knee Surgeon with a focus on sports knee injuries and degenerative knee conditions. He obtained his medical degree from Imperial College School of Medicine in London in 2009 and completed his higher surgical training in the Kent, Surrey, and Sussex region.
To further enhance his expertise in knee surgery, Mr Jones pursued additional training and gained international experience in Brisbane, Australia. There, he undertook a fellowship with world-renowned surgeons, specialising in knee surgery and the management of sports injuries in professional athletes. He also received training in computer-assisted knee replacement techniques.
In 2021, Mr Jones was appointed as a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at East Kent Hospitals University NHS Trust, where he focuses on knee surgery. His clinical interests include ACL reconstruction, meniscal repair, chondral injuries, knee preservation, knee ligament reconstruction, unicompartmental knee replacement, and total knee replacement.
Mr Jones is committed to teaching and is a member of the Faculty of Surgical Trainers of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. He is also a faculty member of the Advanced Trauma Life Support Course, demonstrating his dedication to educating the next generation of surgeons. Additionally, he is a member of several professional organisations, including the British Orthopaedic Association (BOA), British Association for Surgery of the Knee (BASK), and the South East Thames Knee Study Group.

Brilliant surgeon, didn't sugar coat the pain I will be in for few weeks and yes he was right .But he was still very nice and friendly. Would highly recommend him and i shall be coming back for my other knee to be done in very near future.
Mr Jones is very friendly and very informative. My left Knee has swollen over the years and Mr Jones reassured me he would be able to operate and I would end up being able to walk normally.
My doctor was friendly and i was greeted well. We sat down and went through my scans and he was explaining in detail what was going on. He answered all my questions and told me my options.

IAM very pleased with the outcome from my operation for a half knee replacement. I have not had a great deal of pain and my scar from the surgery is very neat indeed . Recovering well at home

Mr Jones fully explained the procedure including the post operative care and what to expect. Mr Jones has an extremely good bedside manner which put me completely at ease.
Prior to the operation, all went well. Unfortunately I reacted badly to the anaesthetic or one of the drugs administered during the procedure. I was violently sick and consequently did not hold down any of the orally administered pain control drugs and was not in a good frame of mind for two days. Consequently I did not fully take in the surgeon's post-op visit and did not take full advantage to learn of the issues. Similarly I was not ready to properly benefit from the first physio visit, and possibly not the second either. As I recover at home, I feel there are many questions I should have asked, or information/advice that the physios might have imparted. The third physio visit to tackle stairs, etc went well and I was cleared for discharge.
Extremely nice personable man who explained everything clearly.
The Entire Benenden Hospital experience was brilliant. Could not wish for a better experience. Special thanks to Nurse Vicky, she was wonderful....
