About Mr Andrew Smith

Mr Andrew Smith, a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon specialising in Hand & Wrist Surgery, embarked on his medical journey by graduating from King's College London in 1993, enriched by an additional BSc in Anatomy. His foundational surgical training took him through London, Bristol, and the Southeast, encompassing neurosurgery, vascular, and plastic surgery. Mr Smith's orthopaedic training was meticulously completed in the Southeast Thames training rotation before he ventured into a life-changing fellowship at the prestigious Kleinert Kutz Hand Care Centre in Louisville, USA.

Currently practicing at Benenden Hospital, One Ashford Hospital, Spencer Private Hospital Ashford, Spencer Private Hospital Margate, and The Chaucer Hospital, Mr Smith's career bears witness to his unwavering commitment to excellence. His practice, rooted in hand and wrist surgery, is a testament to his expertise and precision. Despite his specialised focus, he upholds a crucial role in general trauma care, with a pronounced dedication to wrist fractures, where his contributions have brought forth positive life changes for many.

Mr Smith's devotion to education and mentoring future surgeons is evident in his role as faculty for the AO hand and wrist group and his editorial board membership for the Journal of Hand Surgery. He believes in shaping the future of his field through education and collaboration. His clinical interests encompass a diverse spectrum, from commonplace conditions like carpal tunnel syndrome and trigger finger to the intricate complexities of Dupuytren's disease and hand and wrist arthritis.

I had developed an unsightly ganglion which was getting in the way of life in general. The earliest NHS appointment I could get was in December 2026 and then a possible further 18 week wait. This was unacceptable so I researched via Google. I found East Kent Hand Surgeons and made an appointment with Mr Smith on Monday 6th July. He was very professional, explained what was wrong and the op I would need. The following Monday on 13th July I had the op at Whitstable Minor Injury Unit. Excellent service. I would like to mention that Mr Smith has an excellent secretary in Leanne who is so friendly and efficient. Also Teressa at Whitstable who arranged that side of things in such a lovely efficient way.
