I visited Tev Aho for a second opinion following my attendence at my local NHS hospital for urinary retention where I was advised that I would require long term catheterisation with little chance of successful surgery. Being a relatively fit 70 year old I found this prospect extremely disheartening and as a result set about challenging this prognosis. My research led me to the Cambridge Urology Partnership website where I was encouraged by the solutions that could be available to me and to the successes claimed by Tev and his colleagues through the HoLEP procedure to those with my symptoms. My first contact with Tev was immediately very positive and I was given confidence from the fact that he had no hesitation in recommending HoLEP for me and advising me that there was a 98% prospect of a successful outcome. He explained in a very clear manner what was involved in the process and answered all of my questions openly with all risks (albeit relately small in my case) fully explained. At the conclusion of that consultation I had no hesitation in agreeing to have the precedure which took place within three weeks. My precedure was carried out by Tev at the Nuffield Health Hospital in Cambridge where I received excellent care from staff. The procedure which was under general anaesthetic took less than an hour and I suffered no immediate post operative pain at all. Following an overnight stay I was discharged by Tev following a positive flow test in early afternoon. I am pleased to say that I have never looked back and after years of deteriorating flow and the recent urine retention I am now back to having a flow that I could only have dreamed of a year ago. In summary it is no exageration to say that my experience of having had the HoLEP procedure carried out by Tev has been almost life changing. He displays absolute professionalism at all times with a pleasant demeanour. He is thorough in explaining details and he inspires confidence through his detailed knowledge and his successful achievements. I hope never to have to meet him again but if need dictated he would be my number one choice!

A bad first impression: I arrived as requested at 7:30 to find no staff in Reception and the whole area in darkness! After about 10 , mins a nurse arrived to take us through to the ward. I had been told by the nurse on the phone doing the pre-op check that I was first on the list. However on the day I was told I was 6th, but suspect there were more than 5 people in front of me, as I was not taken downstairs for the procedure until 1about 11:30.. The problem for me was that I was very nervous and the unexpected delay made me very anxious. During my time in Room 19 the male nurse (?) looking after me did an excellent job, trying to reassure me as well as doing all the necessary preparation. Once I got to the operating theatre everyone was pleasant, efficient and friendly, The sedation was effective and the experience much less unpleasant that the retinal tear repair I had had at Moorfields about 10 years ago. I am now in a much better state to face the procedure on the 2nd eve in a few days time.

I have been a client of the surgery for many years going back to when Johnathan Richardson set up the practice just off Wilson's Corner. I continued to use the surgery when premises were established in Shenfield. It was when I experienced heart problems some 5 years ago that I found Dr. Athreya to be particularly helpful. He offered his private cell phone number should I need help or advice at this difficult time prior to surgery. This literally proved a lifeline. I saw Dr. Athreya on 4th December this year and as usual he was able to diagnose the problem and prescribe a treatment plan. Dr Athreya is an experienced, knowledgeable practitioner and a credit to the team at EPD. He puts patients at ease and is interested in their experiences. I was sorry to hear he was leaving for I feel sure he will be sorely missed.

I had a recent admission for a Discectomy under the care of Mr Manoj-Thomas. The entire experience from initial appointment to the actual surgery was just over 6 weeks. During this time I received regular communication to prepare me for my surgery. I was overwhelmed by the high standard of care I received as an in patient from the nursing and medical team. All professionals were courteous calm and maintained my dignity and trust during an anxious time and I am incredibly grateful. My follow up care is continuing and I was very impressed with the phone call I received 2 days post discharge to ensure I was continuing to recover. My recent visit was positive as always, everyone is always warm and welcoming from the moment you step into the door. The office is clean and inviting and always decorated according to the season’s festive calendar, which always a nice touch. I admired the snowflakes decal on the windows giving it a cosy festive feel and fairy lights as I was getting my treatment! I have been seeing Lil for years now and she is absolutely amazing, I feel like a different person when I walk out the practice, in the best way possible. Also, if something else is bothering me she always makes time to take a look and do the necessary adjustments or advise on what exercises to do, or see a GP!

My visit to see Dr Dominic Mort was informative and really helped me to understand a pretty rare occurrence. It confirmed my suspicions that what I was experiencing was not seizures, but a "Jaw Jerk", an involuntary biting action whilst asleep causing sometimes deep lacerations to my tongue and mouth. I was extremely happy with the consultation and forward plan. I would definitely recommend Dr Mort to anyone. He was professional, precise, caring and put both my husband and myself at ease straight away.

After referring me for an MRI it was confirmed that I had coccydynia, which is indeed what Mr Sedra had initially suspected. This was my first experience of the Hillsborough Private Clinic and the staff were very professional, knowledgeable and welcoming. While this is an older style building is was well set out and immaculately clean and while I appreciate that space is at a premium a groundlevel toilet facility would be an asset as while I have no mobility issues I can see where climbing stairs to the bathroom could be an issue for some.

Nurses were all keen to offer care, and talk, which I appreciated, it's easy to get in your own head, and I appreciated the distraction! One thing I would comment on is that there is always a long wait. I was asked to arrive at 8:30am, but I didn't actually have my procedure until 10:30, which gave lots of time to think. A more streamlined appointment process would be helpful

Very good. Friendly staff. Very clean and pleasant hospital. Health screening tests were done efficiently. GP decided to refer one issue to a specialist which was reassuring that it is receiving proper attention. Only minor irritant was that I was asked 3 times if I was insured or self pay. As I had pre-paid my health screening I would have expected that to be on my records.
