I have been very happy with my overall experience at Vision Scotland Edinburgh. The staff were both friendly and professional. I was well informed regarding my choices and the procedure. I have been thrilled with the result of the cataract surgery. I was given an appointment very soon after the referral. I would however like to let you know how I felt the experience on the day of the operation could have been improved. Firstly I was not sent the Post Op information which would have been most helpful to read before the procedure. Secondly I got very cold in theatre and was given a blanket but it did take me ages to warm up. It would have been better to have been given a blanket before the procedure started. There is a lot of cold water being used which does add to the chill. Thirdly I was not told to bring sunglasses for the journey home or to bring analogies both of which I would very much appreciated as I lived over a hour away. On the journey home I became extremely uncomfortable. Finally the roof of my mouth and tongue got a little burnt I think by the coffee as they must have been a little bit anaesthetised still when I had the coffee. The coffee however i have to say was absolutely welcome and the best thing along with the toasted teacake. I found it very reassuring to have a telephone number to call which I did use. I also very much appreciate the phone call from the nurse a couple of days post op. I hope you find the above comments of use. I do not wish to criticise as overall it was an extremely good experience and I would and have already recommended Vision Scotland. ( I did tell my neighbour to ask for a blanket!)

Mrs Khinder made me feel calm and relaxed before surgery by thoroughly explaining the procedure. She is warm, reassuring, and easy to talk to, which immediately put me at ease. Her aftercare has also been excellent — she takes time to look after you properly and explains everything clearly, which is very reassuring. I took my 14 yr old, slightly awkward son to see Mr Buddhev recently and he was fantastic with him. Mr Buddhev put Jonathan at ease and spoke directly to him in language that he could understand. The staff at the hospital were all very friendly, helpful and efficient. They understood the importance of admission for surgery to the patient and were very supportive. All of the clinical and medical staff were first class, but the support staff were also excellent. The room was clean and comfortable and I was well looked after. The menu options were very good and the food was delicious. I have no hesitation in strongly recommending this excellent hospital.

I have struggled with trigger finger in both hands for a while. Mr. Jonathan Hobby has always given me the best advice and treatment. The most recent steroid injections have been a huge success. My middle fingers no longer lock when I'm carrying out daily tasks and the terrible pain in my left middle finger joint has disappeared. A huge relief and it's wonderful not to be in pain.

I feel very fortunate to be receiving care from The Royal Marsden at Sutton. Being treated at a specialist hospital focused solely on cancer is a very different experience from other NHS hospitals. All staff are incredibly caring, supportive, and excellent in their roles. Despite the longer journey from Kent, I feel it is absolutely worth it to receive such outstanding care.
