As a business owner and mum of 2 it is vital that I keep operating as close to my A Game as I can. As a result I have been trying to find both the optimal HRT for me personally - and also the best provider/ clinic I can find. I started with the NHS and my local doctor which quickly didn’t feel bespoke or targeted enough for my hormonal needs or personalised in the approach. I then registered with an online menopause clinic and worked thru them for over a year. The HRT felt much better however it was a logistical challenge. HRT was sent thru the post and took 2 weeks to arrive. If you missed/ had to reschedule an online appointment/ blood test (which with a business and kids happens regularly) it had ramifications so I would find myself running out of HRT with a 2 week stretch ahead of me. This just didn’t work with my job where I am client facing and needing to know that I am feeling grounded, confident and not overwhelmed / severely anxious. Another problem I found was that the online clinic wasn’t conferring with my NHS doctor so my records were not up to date which felt concerning. I have private health and know how close the private doctors work with the NHS so this raised alarm bells to me. It was in one of these periods when I was about to go into a work trip with no HRT that in my desperation I saw an advert for Dr Kemp. I booked an appointment with her and the process felt so personalised and easy. The consultation was surprisingly in depth (much more so than the online clinic). I realised after the consultation the importance of working with a medical professional who can take a holistic view of your health as a female - not just focussing on your hormones. I realised during the call that I was behind on my mammogram - and also have since the call booked myself in for therapy in the advice of Dr Kemp. She asked for a blood test - and prescribed a new variation of HRT with clear instructions on how to use. The prescription was emailed direct to me within a few hours and I could use my local chemist to action it. This felt so liberating being able to pick up within hours as oppose to waiting for a few weeks. Dr Kemp sent me the notes from our conversation with her suggested next step actions - which prompted me to both book the mammogram and therapy. And has checked in a number of times since. She also sent a letter to my NHS doctor and logged both the recommendations and HRT prescription. As a result if I need some urgently and I can’t contact Dr Kemp I can now go direct to my NHS doctor and ask them to prescribe. I feel I have finally found the set up and professional I need to be able to navigate myself through the perimenopause and menopause whilst maintaining the responsibilities I have in my life. I’ve realised how anxious I have been previously not feeling like I have a medical professional and HRT available to me - and I feel so relieved that I’ve been able to find the set up with Dr Kemp. No matter what the menopause continues to bring up/ throw at me I know I can face it head on - with my optimum health and mind set - with the advice of Dr Kemp helping me maintain my emotional and physical strength.

We opted for private care at UCLH because we wanted the birth experience to be as positive as possible. As a medically uncomplicated patient I felt that I may not receive much attention or time on an overstretched NHS ward. I also had some anxieties around birth (as a healthcare professional myself) and felt reassured to be receiving consultant-led care, from a clinician with whom I was able to build a trusting relationship. Shalini provided exceptional care from 32 weeks pregnancy and after delivery. She got to know me and my partner, and understood our priorities and concerns. I had previously found it hard to make decisions around birth. Shalini provided us with evidence, data and her experience - this empowered us to make our decisions. She spent a lot of time with us and brought great care, empathy and kindness to her practice, as well as her excellent clinical skills. When we had questions, fears or anxieties Shalini was able to reassure us, both with her kindness and her experience and expertise. The care she provides is holistic and individualised - she advocated for me in many ways and empowered me to advocate for myself too. We had an elective caesarean at 39 weeks. The surgery was pain free and crucially for me, I felt confident and safe - something that was not natural for me in approaching birth. Shalini was close at hand to care for us before and afterwards. I made an excellent recovery and have healed extremely well. I recommend Dr Shalni in the strongest terms to mothers and families looking for private care at UCLH. Shalini is passionate about obstetrics, her patients and practising medicine. It is a great privilege to be cared for by a clinician at the top of her field, who clearly cares deeply about her patients.

Doctor Khanna who I met 5 months prior is very direct, professional and confident which I liked because it showed me his passion and commitment to his craft. The day of the surgery when he came to speak to me and tell me what was going to happen he again was direct and confident. He spoke very clearly and I felt very informed of what was going to happen which gave me an assertive and positive assurance in his ability to perform the surgery which went amazingly well. I had no worry or anxiety about the surgery leading up to it and am extremely grateful to Doctor Khanna and his team for performing the surgery and fixing my hernia. Mr Tudor Jones was very clear and concise, he made the whole process easy for me. I have had a long, drawn out history of Achilles pain and he reassured me that the procedure would go to plan and I would be on the road to recovery soon despite the long history. So far so good, starting into a rehab block now and I have had a 6 week follow up with Mr Jones who was very accomodating to have this for me on zoom as I live in Ireland which saved me a trip! Would highly recommend.

He went through the image scan with me and explained very clearly the issues I was having, what could or could not be done and things to hopefully help. Really simple to order medications. Fairly straightforward experience. The problem starts and ends when the fact that they use Royal mail for deliveries. Had I known, I would have ordered elsewhere. Royal mail consistently mess up on deliveries especially on my area, and it's impossible to get through to customers service (which is non-existent really at Royal Mail).
