I had surgery on my hip as a small child due to severe dysplasia and have lived with restricted movement my whole life. The fantastic surgeon at RNOH at the time created a hip that functioned very well for me for many years but pain and limitations were the normal day to day. I had delayed getting my hip replaced for decades, wanting to wait as long as possible as I was young but after seeing Mr Newman and discussing a Mako hip replacement I felt confident that he would be able to improve what I had. At the consultation he was clear, honest and made me feel more relaxed about the procedure. On surgery day he was reassuring and I was very happy for him to carry out the surgery. He followed up with visits every day I that was in hospital. The results have been better than I had imagined. He has been able to give me, not only a functioning hip but has even improved the external appearance of it. I’m very grateful for his expertise and couldn’t be happier with the results. At my follow up appointments Mr Newman patiently answered all my questions with honesty and knowledge and made me feel very welcome to contact him in the future with any concerns. I would be hesitate to recommend him as an excellent hip surgeon.

I cannot thank Dr Arun Shanmugandan enough for his diligent assessment and treatment. My condition was severe requiring multiple procedures under sedation as well surgery under general anaesthetic each completed by Arun. Arun has been exceptional in ensuring the issues were resolved completely. Even picking up on an irregularity in my blood results which led to finding an unrelated issue with my parathyroid gland. This has now also been resolved following Aruns referral, which I was also very extremely pleased with. Aruns patience and bedside manner are second to none, ensuring I understood each process every step of the way. As a 41 year old woman I was horrified to find I had so many health issues happening at once. However, Arun was able to resolve each of them in less than 6 months giving me confidence in my health moving forward. I feel 10 times better, I have so much more energy and a new lease for life. Thank you so much to Arun and his amazing team for all you have done, it has truly been life changing for me .

Dr Nicolo Battisti

It was definitely worth coming for a second opinion and very reassuring to find that our hospital was doing the right thing and providing treatment that Dr Nicolo Battisti agreed with. However we have been to the hospital today for the routine oncology appointment and the results of the PET scan. This showed the cancer is now in the abdomen and the registrar is suggesting we commence with Capecitabine chemo tablets. I would be very interested to find out whether Dr Nicolo Battisti would agree with this decision. I have a week to think about it - would he be able to contact me. My daughter has had cataract surgery on both eyes on the 21st January 2026 everything went according to what we were told the whole surgery went well she was very pleased with the procedure. I would just like to say Marie who was her nurse was brilliant, she was very caring, put my daughter at ease all the time, she was there all the time and answered all the questions we had and was always available on the phone . 1)I found the signage to the main lifts and to Lyndhurst rooms confusing. There should be signage in the ground floor lift lobby saying which departments are on which floor. I have been complaining about this since 1971. 2)The excellent group portrait of the Royal Free consultants in about 1970 which used to be on the ground floor but has now been removed to the 12th Floor no longer has the key saying who they are. This is a digrace and an insult to the memory of a fine group of men (and about ten women), The key should be found and reinstated immediately.

I injured my back the week before Christmas — I could not even walk with the pain. I emailed Dr Swan over the weekend not expecting a response until Monday. I should’ve known from my previous experiences that he really cares about his patients and their outcomes so I was not surprised when he called me at home in the evening to discuss what I could do to immediately to relieve the spasm and a plan of next steps for investigations and treatment. I could not think of a safer pair of hands to be in when you are in severe pain and dealing with a spinal injury.

Appointment on 31/01/2026- 1. Poor mobile network at the reception area, irrespective of mobile network provider. 2. Staff at reception does not know who visitors can log to use wi-fi. In my case I need wifi to access BUPA app to provide treatment authorisation code. I had to walk outside in the rain to be able to get network. 3. Staff at reception gave the wrong consultation room. 4. Waited past appointment time and when back to query. Told appointment at a different consultation room. Always had issues at reception

He was able to explain clearly the reasons for all the preliminary tests and answered questions fully in terms that I could understand. He exuded confidence and professionalism and was very thorough in his preparations for surgery. He made himself available for questions and gave clear and comprehensive answers. My surgery went very well and I felt safe and cared for by the Professor and his team throughout the process.

Paid privately for Hip Replacement, initial appointment was disappointing with an hour wait, and a non interested surgeon. A few blips along the way, upon arrival on surgery day, they had me down for a knee replacement not hip, staff on night shift not the friendliest, and thet x rayed the incorrect hip after the surgery. Day shift were great and surgery went well. I will say I expected more for paying privately however the main thing I've had my surgery instead of the ridiculous wait time on the nhs.

Absolutely Gold service, from being collected at my front door, and being dropped home afterwards. I was looked after every step of the way. Dr Ho explain everything necessary through the procedure, which I found totally pain free. Wonderful staff from car driver David, reception staff, nursing staff, Maria, Anne, Rachel and the ones I didn’t get their names. Then Dr Ho for his amazing surgical skills. Very happy with my consultant and the nursing staff but (as I have previously said in feedback) that waiting area (on the first floor) at Parkside really needs improvement. The reception staff are unfriendly, talk noisily amongst themselves, the coffee machine was broken today, there are sirens (or alarms or phone rings?) going off regularly which is not good for anxious patients
