At times I felt patronised, or belittled for my personal thoughts and queries. There was a situation which got out of hand were he would come to me and tell me everything I'd be saying behind his back to the nurses and was not happy at all about me doing this even though it wasn't criticism about him, they were confidential comments I was suggesting to the nurses to make my experience here better such as having a 10 minute warning before Dr Burke would be visiting. Overall Dr Burke is a very good Doctor who knows a lot about medications and about the mental health conditions I've been facing, however I don't think we were the best match as I am someone who likes to discuss alternative options especially when it comes to medications and I felt I didn't get a say in any of my treatment plans and what I would be more comfortable with, it would be shut down very quickly.

From first contacting my GP who could have referred me to a podiatrist but asked me to decide on whether it was appropriate (a decision for which I have no expertise to make) in late May it took over 3 months to see Mr Qasim (via TIMS during which I obtained no advice to go back to GP to get podiatrist referral, but instead a referral to Mr Qasim for steroid injection). However, the podiatrist at Freeman said steroid was no longer suitable due to second toe having developed a hammer deformity by then (mid-November). I think I should have been referred straight to Freeman, not via TIMS and Mr Qasim because I had months of delay and pain while I waited, thus affecting my ability to do my job as a nurse.

I came in today for surgery feeling incredibly nervous after a bad experience on the NHS previously, all I can say is I am so impressed with how different the process has been with the team today. Everyone from reception to the nurses to the anesthesiologist and of course Mr Banwell were genuinely fantastic and I can’t thank them enough. No question or ask was too much, I truly felt genuine care and warmth from all the staff. They checked on me regularly, reassured me constantly. My pain has been managed incredibly well and Mr Banwell’s precision has most definitely aided this too. I can’t be more grateful for everyone that cared for me today, Thank you all so much.

The actual visit with dentist (Simon Robertson) was at is normal excellent standard by explaining what dental work was required to resolve the situation of which he completed explaining each task as he progressed with no drama or problems. Excellent consult. Unfriendly reception. Not particularly clean. The worst part the hospital didn’t order my medication. Said to my consultant we can get it tomorrow. He was down from Scotland. Only for the day. I was travelling to London. So he went and got it from another hospital. Next time I see him we won’t be coming there!

He offers evening phone calls and offers private prescriptions until you can arrange things with the GP. Highly recommend.
