About Mr Thomas Nicholas

Mr Thomas Nicholas, an experienced vascular surgeon, is based at Spire Cheshire Hospital and Fairfield Independent Hospital in Crank, St Helens. He offers comprehensive care for various vascular conditions.  With decades of clinical experience, he’s renowned for his patient-focused approach and expertise in diagnosing and managing complex vascular issues.


As the Clinical Director of Vascular Services for the South Mersey Arterial network, Mr Nicholas oversees Countess of Chester Hospital Wirral University Teaching Hospitals and Warrington and Halton Teaching Hospitals.


He qualified with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery from Mangalore University in 1988 and then completed a Master of Surgery in General Surgery in 1991.  In 1996 he became a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons and later earned his FRCS in General Surgery with a vascular sub-specialty in 2002.


Mr Nicholas specialises in modern varicose vein treatment, providing a convenient one-stop clinic for assessment and management.  His expertise also extends to diabetic foot conditions and investigating leg pain and swelling.  Beyond his clinical work, he actively participates in teaching research and audit, supporting medical students and surgical trainees.  He’s a member of the British Medical Association, the Vascular Surgical Society of Great Britain and Ireland and the European Society of Vascular and Endovascular Surgery.


Outside of his professional life, Mr Nicholas enjoys DIY, particularly woodworking, gardening and spending time with his family which includes doggie!

Mr Nicholas Is one of the finest consultants and human being I have ever met He has always treated me with honesty about my condition and spoken to me with respect and kindness I have white coat syndrome but not with him
