When booking the consultation with Nick Panay, the earliest available date was 2 months in advance. I was required to pay the full £395 under pressure at time, being told that the consultation would be lost unless I paid by 5pm. My understanding that this appointment would be for specialist, in-depth input tailored to a complex clinical history. Given that context, I was disappointed that the consultation felt limited to a reiteration of guideline-based recommendations, with little opportunity to explore causation, individual nuance, or the specific questions I had prepared. At several points during the consultation, I felt that my questions were closed down rather than explored, and the overall tone felt more directive than supportive. Given my long and complex medical history, I had hoped for a more compassionate and collaborative approach. Instead, I left the consultation feeling unheard and dismissed, which was distressing. I had hoped for greater depth and collaborative discussion, particularly in light of the significant upfront cost. I was given no additional value beyond what I already knew and was told in any case, that I required a further consultation to finalise a treatment plan. I have been in contact with the practice and explained that the consultation did not meet the reasonable expectations set by the cost, structure, or positioning of this service. I appreciate that since, I have received a considered response from the Practice Manager and the consultation and fee are being reviewed.

Mr Steven Harsum

In Feb 2025,I had same day cataract surgery ( in 50 mins) ,with multi focal implants, at Shirley Oaks hospital. Both the surgeon and another colleague advised that there were no fundament problems with the outcome of the surgery. On 19th April Purley Specsavers advised that there was no stability at all with his left eye. After further refractions and other glasses-single lens and multi focal glasses- there was still no improvement in short distance vision and problems in driving at night time. On 20th October, Director of Specsavers, on 2/10/25 , advised that glasses could not improve beyond N8. I appointed Mr Harsum, 29/9/25, as an independent advisor and reports were written on 14/10/25 , 22/10/25 and 8/12/25. The reports concluded: still very significant astigmatism, despite a left Toric lens. Possible outcomes : refractive error, astigmatism, lens exchange or refund of costs. I am meeting Mr Harsum 8/1/26 to agree outcome required on the basis of NHS treatment . Mr Harsum has provided me with confidence that he has been able to potentially propose a lens refund solution and hence a return to 20/20 vision. I am very great full in having located his professional service, in S London.

Pleasant waiting area with self-service drinks available. Within an hour you are called and escorted into the preparation/recovery room where you are prepared for the operation and the procedure is explained including a visit from the surgeon to check if you have any questions. The operation takes place in the adjacent theatre where again efforts are made to keep you informed as to what’s happening and before you know it you are escorted back to your recovery area for water and a biscuit. Staff were pleasant and attentive at all times. Once thoroughly checked out you return to the waiting area to be collected by your escort who has already been called to say your are ready for collection. I was back home within 2 hours

From my first consultation through to post-operative follow-up, Dr. Wilson was professional, reassuring, and extremely thorough. He took the time to clearly explain the procedure, answer all my questions, and put me completely at ease. The surgery itself went smoothly, thanks to his skill and attention to detail. I felt genuinely cared for throughout the entire process, and the results have been excellent. I had a part knee replacement and the staff were really caring and polite . I couldn’t fault them in fact I would trust them 100% and I don’t trust nobody but the staff were truly amazing . A big Thank you to Mr Patel truly amazing gentlemen and the aneasathetist wow I didn’t feel any needles top people. All I can say is I would highly recommend this hospital the service was amazing. The staff that looked after you couldn’t do enough for you . The place was spotless and the best part of it all you were respected as a person

On Saturday, I attended Canterbury Hospital at 7:30 am for a minor operation on my finger. Two nurses looked after me and prepared me beforehand. Emma went out of her way to help. I had a very good discussion with the test and we decided that general anaesthetic would be the best route. Mr. Smith carried out the operation and I was lucky to see him afterwards when I came round and he said it had been completely successful. Everything seemed very calm, organised and professional. My knee has recovered very well and it has not been a bad experience at all. I was terrified before the operation but I was reassured by the anaesthetist that I would be fine. The consultant has done an amazing job on my knee.

Overall my recent experience was excellent. I had recently had foot surgery and had a blue post surgery shoe on. A lovely, thoughtful and kind nurse called Theresa brought me a stool and pillow to elevated my foot without me even asking and generally looked after me and made sure all the other patients were ok.
