Dr Muhammed A Ottayil has been absolutely exceptional in his care and support of my daughter, Lyla Rose. From our very first appointment, it was clear that he is an extremely knowledgeable and highly experienced consultant paediatrician, but what truly sets him apart is the way he combines that expertise with genuine compassion and patience. Dr Ottayil is incredibly thorough. He takes the time to carefully review every detail, explains findings clearly, and ensures that nothing is overlooked. He never rushes appointments and always makes space for questions, no matter how small, taking care to explain things in a way that is easy to understand and reassuring as a parent. His depth of knowledge is evident, and his clinical judgement inspires complete confidence. Throughout our time working with him, he has been consistently supportive and approachable. He listens attentively, takes concerns seriously, and treats both child and parent with respect and kindness. As a parent, it makes an enormous difference to feel heard and understood, and Dr Ottayil excels at this. His calm and reassuring manner has been invaluable during what can otherwise be a very stressful experience. He has been truly amazing to deal with at every stage — professional, compassionate, and dedicated. I feel extremely grateful that my daughter has been under his care, and I would not hesitate to recommend Dr Muhammed A Ottayil to any parent seeking outstanding paediatric support. The communication from Skylignt is poor. My final report stated I did not complete 2 of the questionnaires, which I did, as I saved copies of my answers in case technology failed. Nobody chased these missing questionnaires and the response time when I did contact the admin team was 15 working days each time. All of the timescales I was told from start to finish were very inaccurate. Some of these timescales are still on the website. From referral to acknowledgement I was informed 6-8 weeks and it was 9 weeks. From acknowledgement/forms to initial appointment I was informed 8-12 weeks and waited 16 weeks. From assessment to report I was told 8-10 weeks and it was 14 weeks. I have been told 9 months from October until medication titration, but I can’t trust that this timescale is accurate. The staff are very friendly and helpful and brilliant when you do have an interaction with them, but the volume of work must be beyond current capacity to provide such inaccurate information to patients who are seeking support/diagnosis for a condition that requires accuracy and creates a high level of anxiety.

My first appointment was arranged within a week. After my appointment I was offered surgery in exactly one more week. Everything was great, lovely facilities, lovely staff. Everyone was very friendly and constantly being offered coffee etc. On every occasion I was taken either on time or early. I was put at ease and everything was fully explained and what the best lenses for me would be, based on my history and interests. On the day of surgery, everything went fine and there was no pain whatsoever, merely a strange feeling as the surgeon did his stuff. Afterwards I was given advice re eye drops and aftercare and again all great. Everything was fine when I got home, merely discomfort and that soon passed. I had plenty of people checking and following up that all was well. Finally, I had a follow up visit after a few weeks and again everything was great and very professional and I was advised to see my optician and GP. Throughout my time, the service I received was first class.

I have been so pleased with my experience of surgery by Dr Shilen Patel. At the first consultation he explained very clearly and in detail what my operation would entail and the possible risks, but without scaring me. This gave me a lot of confidence for the day of the operation, and the surgery went very well. When dressings were removed 10 days after my operation I was really surprised to see how neat the wound was, and it was healing nicely. I had very little pain, and Mr Patel explained to me at my follow up appointment that the tumour had been removed fully without rupturing, so there is very little chance of it returning. He had also explained how they had worked to ensure they did not damage a nearby nerve which I had been so relieved about. In conclusion, I was very pleased with the overall treatment received and with the care and respect I was shown. Thank you.

This was a follow-up appointment with David Cumming for MRI results regarding my back pain. As with with my first appointment, he provided excellent assistance and advice. His feedback was detailed and clear and he answered any questions I and my son raised. He ran through treatment options, but without putting any pressure on me to make decisions there and then. Indeed, throughout my consultations, I always felt listened to, and never felt that we were being rushed through. Throughout, Mr Cumming was friendly and clear, patiently listening to my concerns and answering my questions; he was warm and welcoming - when my son dropped my crutch on the floor, this consultant surgeon did not hesitate to pick it up! I also want to praise his secretary, Emma, who has been most helpful.

Mr Amit is an exceptionally skilled and highly experienced neurospinal surgeon, having trained in some of the leading spinal units. From my very first consultation, I was immediately impressed by his approachable manner, professionalism, and attention to detail. He listened carefully, put me completely at ease, and ensured I fully understood my condition. Mr Amit provided a clear and accurate diagnosis and outlined a comprehensive, evidence-based treatment plan, which ultimately led to an excellent clinical outcome. His care is truly patient-centred, and he consistently followed up to ensure the best possible results throughout the process. I always find the receptionists at The Holly difficult to deal with. The booking in experience is poor as one often has to wait for ages whilst the receptionists are on the phone or chatting or apparently doing something on their computers. It is a pity as the doctors and nurses and other staff including the porters at The Holly are extremely good. The receptionists in both the outpatients area and the scan receptionists need better training and better management. I would say however that the GP area receptionists and the front desk receptionists are very nice and very helpful so I have no issues with them.

Mr David Bell

My surgery has been so successful I can now walk steadily and much further, for several miles without pain. Mr Bell is very patient and communicative, I had plenty of time to ask questions in clinic. My other, milder narrowing at L4 is being managed conservatively and I can rest assured that it will be operated on only when it becomes absolutely necessary. My quality of life has improved tremendously and the doctor in my family has nominated Mr Bell for a greatly deserved award.

I went to see Mr Haslam due to me having pain in my knee and the feeling of it grinding every time I walked up stairs or bend my knee the pain was horrendous during bedtime and I felt like I needed to get into my knee cap and give it a good rub. I cannot recommend the clinic highly enough. Staff are friendly but professional and the level of care is exceptional. All appointments are followed up very quickly with a letter confirming all that was discussed and then follow up appointments are arranged very quickly. Would not hesitate to use this clinic for any further medical issues.

. It’s not clear where the private department is (or any other) as no reception desk at hospital entrance (only a security man on other duties). When in 2nd floor private area do not expect trappings of luxury or flashy equipment. You do get kindness, attentiveness and skill and efficiency. Came out with problem fixed. No cafe.
