Dr Vasim Farooq

It is a pleasure to provide the following review of the experience, assistance and advice that I received from Dr. Farooq during the last 18 months when I was quite seriously ill. At the early part of 2025 I suffered a severe lack of breath and after a discussion with my GP decided to attend at The Spire for a scan. Luckily for me, Dr. Farooq saw and examined the results of that scan and before I got home he telephoned me to state that I should go to the hospital immediately and he would endeavour to obtain a bed. During my stay in hospital Dr. Farooq arranged for a number of tests and scans - such as Echocardiogram and an Ambulatory Monitor - to be undertaken and upon my discharge he arranged for a Life Vest to be supplied and fitted which I wore for some 2 months. In addition upon leaving hospital it was found that I had developed drop foot to my right leg and again Dr. Farooq subsequently arranged for a stroke consultant to investigate. I have since attended a number of follow up appointments with Dr Farooq and receive, a few days after those appointments, a detailed letter from him – a copy of which also goes to my GP – setting out my progress to date and reviewing my medication. My experience with Dr. Farooq has been exemplary and his explanation of my current state of health at those follow up appointments have been particularly thorough - each one was undertaken with the utmost of professional standards - together with a touch of humour !! My experience with Dr. Farooq has always been excellent

Dr Farooq was very clear and gave me all the information I need. I appreciated the time he gave me and I didn’t feel rushed. I feel confident I am in good hands under his care and expertise.

I felt at ease and listened to , doctor was polite ,explained clearly what steps were to be taken and how my treatment plan was going to be worked out

A person-centred approach which made me feel listened to and involved in all decisions about my treatment plan. This made me feel empowered to self-manage my health.

From the first appointment Dr Farooq put myself and my daughter at ease. My daughter had experienced chest pains for a few months and her anxiety about the possibility of a heart attack was high. Dr Farooq had a calming manner with Ruby and let her talk through her symptoms of which there were many. When Ruby had finished explaining Dr Farooq was able to get Colin very calmly what he thought this could be. With her permission he gave her an ECG which was normal. This helped Ruby’s anxiety and we could visibly see her calm . Dr Farooq allowed Ruby as much time as she needed in the appointment and helped book her in for a MRI to rule out any further problems with her heart. My daughter told me after the appointment how much Dr Farooq had helped with his explanation of what it possibly could be and that he had made her feel heard after multiple appointments with GP’s not understanding what she was trying to explain. We both found the experience with Dr Farooq to be a very positive and helpful experience and one that led to Ruby’s recovery both with the medication prescribed and the reassurance he gave.
