Dr Alasdair Macinnes

Dr Alasdair Macinnes is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon who specialises in lower limb joint reconstruction and trauma care. Dedicated to providing compassionate, evidence-based care, he focuses on diagnosing and treating complex musculoskeletal conditions to help patients alleviate pain, restore mobility, and regain their quality of life. His clinical practice encompasses primary hip and knee joint replacements, partial knee procedures, and the management of challenging or previously unsuccessful joint replacements.

Dr Macinnes graduated with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB) in 2010. He completed specialist higher surgical training in Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgery across major healthcare institutions in Scotland, earning his Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons in Trauma and Orthopaedics. To further refine his technical expertise, he undertook advanced specialist fellowships in pelvic and acetabular trauma as well as an international fellowship in revision arthroplasty in New Zealand. He maintains active professional standing through Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh.

In addition to his surgical practice, Dr Macinnes is deeply involved in medical education, serving as an Honorary Clinical Lecturer and receiving formal recognition for excellence in surgical training. He chairs regional multidisciplinary meetings focused on complex joint replacement cases, facilitating collaborative discussion for intricate surgical conditions.
