Mr Farooq Khan

Mr Farooq Khan is a Consultant Urological Surgeon currently practising at the private Spire Harpenden Hospital, Spire Bushey Hospital, Spire Bushey Diagnostic Centre, Cobham Clinic in Luton as well as OSD Healthcare in Hemel Hempstead. He specialises in prostate treatments for benign prostate enlargement (BPH) and offers Holmium laser enucleation of the prostate (HoLEP) and is considered a national high volume surgeon with this surgical expertise in the UK and is a national mentor for HoLEP surgery. Along with Rezum (steam therapy for enlarged prostates) he has recently added Aquablation to his portfolio of treatments for men with BPH.  He also offers  laser stone surgery, early prostate cancer detection, investigations for blood in the urine, treatment of bladder cancer, erectile dysfunction, urinary incontinence and general core urology including circumcisions and scrotal swellings.

Mr Khan graduated from University College London with a Bachelor's degree in science (BSc. Hons), a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery with distinction (MBBS, 1996) and a Fellowship of the Royal Colleges of Surgeons in Urology in 2008. Mr Khan has been practising urology for over 15 years as a consultant and completed urology training between 2003 and 2010 in Cambridge. He has performed over 1600 cases of 50 Watt laser prostatectomies (HoLEP) in the UK, with excellent outcomes. These have been presented at international meetings such as the American Urological Association, European Association of Urology and The British Association of Urological Surgeons.

Additionally, Mr Khan used to be the course director for a laser prostate surgery masterclass which ran for urological consultants twice a year and continues to be an invited faculty member in the UK and Europe to teach HoLEP surgery to consultant colleagues. He set up and runs a national HoLEP fellowship, accredited with The British Association of Urological Surgeons (BAUS) and regularly hosts surgical teams wishing to set up laser prostate surgery services in their units. He also has memberships of the Medical Protection Society, Royal College of Surgeons of England and is a BMA member.
