Dr Peter Dickinson is a Consultant Clinical Oncologist with specialist expertise in the treatment of lung cancer and the use of stereotactic ablative radiotherapy (SABR) for primary and metastatic cancer. He has worked at Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust since 2013 and joined GenesisCare in 2023 as Specialist Advisor to the Stereotactic Ablative Radiotherapy Clinical Reference Group.
Dr Dickinson graduated from the University of Nottingham Medical School before completing specialist training in Clinical Oncology in Nottingham. He subsequently undertook a technical radiotherapy fellowship at The Christie Hospital, Manchester, where he developed advanced expertise in modern radiotherapy techniques. He was appointed as a Consultant Clinical Oncologist at Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust in 2013 and has since held a number of clinical leadership roles, including Clinical Lead for Radiotherapy for six years and Clinical Lead for Clinical Oncology for two years. He is also a member of the Royal College of Radiologists Clinical Oncology Professional Practice Board.
His clinical practice focuses on the treatment of thoracic malignancies using radiotherapy and systemic anti-cancer therapies, with particular expertise in stereotactic ablative radiotherapy (SABR). He treats patients with primary lung cancer and metastatic disease affecting the spine, lungs, lymph nodes, liver, bones and adrenal glands. Dr Dickinson also has experience in delivering stereotactic radiotherapy for selected patients requiring treatment to areas that have previously received radiotherapy.
Alongside his clinical practice, Dr Dickinson is actively involved in clinical research and serves as Principal Investigator and Sub-Investigator on a number of lung cancer clinical trials. His work supports the evaluation and development of new treatment approaches for patients with thoracic malignancies.
