I had been referred by my optician for a potential glaucoma diagnosis. This referral went through extremely quickly and my appointment on Tuesday 14th October 2025 was the best medical experience I have encountered. My elderly parents had kindly driven me to my appointment as I do not drive. The car parking facilities were excellent. I asked permission if my parents could wait and the 3 of us were warmly welcomed. The reception, seating area and customer service was outstanding. The free hot drink was a surprising luxury and we were fortunate to attend on a day when Newmedica staff had organised a cake sale for the organisation Vista. The quality of refreshments reached a high standard and provided such a positive environment. The 3 Practitioners who conducted my eye tests and recorded my medical history were kind, patient and reassuring. My Consultant provided exemplary care. Professional, thorough and calm. He provided a clear explanation of how he was reaching his conclusion. I received an email of the outcome within the hour. I have a follow up in 12 months and this will be the first medical appointment that I will look forward to. Thank you to the whole team at Newmedica. It was a privilege to be treated as an NHS Patient here and whether Private or an NHS patient customer care is exceptional for both patients and their family members

Professor Bloomfield’s extensive research background is impressive on paper, and for over a year, I valued his care and placed significant trust in him. However, when I raised a legitimate complaint, my experience was that the focus shifted dramatically. In my opinion, the clinical documentation became defensive, and I felt I was no longer dealing with my trusted clinician, but with an impersonal administrative process that felt designed to manage liability rather than address my concerns. This feeling culminated in my final appointments. In one, the discussion turned to the time, less than 10 minutes into the session, which left me feeling like a passenger watching a taxi meter. Yet on his terms, I felt the session was then later prolonged, not for my therapeutic benefit, but to find a reason to refer me out of the service. The suggestion that I be referred back to the very services I had paid a significant sum to escape felt like a profound betrayal of the trust I had placed in him. My experience was ultimately one where I felt the commercial and administrative pressures of his practice overshadowed the therapeutic relationship. A deeply disappointing end to what was once a valued clinical partnership which I believed there was a trusting clinician-patient relationship. This will be my last visit.

Staff were exceedingly helpful, friendly and supportive, which resulted in a very positive experience. Two important feedback comments 1: telephone system in Belfast is not fit for purpose. In spite of many attempts, I always had to wait more than 15 minutes and (apart from once) did not get through (see below). NW system is much better, in that you can opt for a callback when your call reached top of the queue. 2: Co-ordination between NW and Belfast needs attention. I did not get any pre-op preparation advice, in spite of requesting this when appointment was arranged. (I think I fell between two stools, each side thinking the other had provided me with the info). When I realised some time later that I had not got anything, I could not get through on the phone in spite of repeated attempts. I eventually got through on one occasion to advise re: recent medication, but couldn't speak to an appropriate person. The telephonist was very helpful and arranged for it to be dealt with by email., but I still got no pre-op prep information..

I wanted to share & express my upmost gratitude for the treatment and care delivered to my son on 20th September 2025 who has Neurodiverse needs. Spencer hospital and all the staff were absolutely fantastic in supporting him through his recent gallbladder removal surgery. Every care and attention was given to him from the moment we were referred, to pre consultation and pre operative assessment to the moment he was discharged after a successful surgery. Mr Boshnaq and his medical team did an amazing job, reassuring us every step of the way and fully explained procedures and took their time to ensure we both felt comfortable. I really cannot thank everyone enough, nurses porters etc… This is what great care looks like and I wish every NHS experience could be as positive. Thank you, you made what could have been a terribly traumatic experience for my son into a calm and gentle process and I feel truly blessed to have such a great hospital, with caring and competent staff in my home town.

I am so lucky to have had Dr Harris as my Consultant. He listened to me giving me all the time I needed to explain my symptoms. He put me at ease, not least when I was dreading an endoscopy which went without a hitch and no suffering on my part. He is clearly very knowledgeable in his field and was able to convey any problems in terms I could easily understand. If I have any further problems, I will definitely go back to him and if anyone reads this, please feel reassured you will get, 'A' star treatment. I would also like to thank his Secretary who was very efficient, helpful and quick to respond to my questions between appointments. Thank you very much.

Mr Issaq Ahmed

Mr Ahmed was incredibly professional, whilst showing an empathetic, kind approach. At our first meeting, he explained the procedure fully (a total joint replacement to my left knee. He asked if I wanted to see my X-rays, which I did. He went over details of the operation with me, going over what I could expect. He went at my pace, was thorough, making sure I was comfortable with the information he was giving me. Mr Ahmed was approachable, contactable and empathetic during all follow-up meetings. Thankfully Mr Ahmed agreed to carry out a similar operation to my right knee. You can't get a better recommendation than that! It's a 10 out of 10 from me.

I attended the clinic in order to have a steroid injection in my hip. The doctor carrying out the procedure was professional, friendly, reassuring and informative. The only slight negative was that when being referred for the procedure I was given no information regarding what to expect both during and after the procedure. Fortunately I had had a similar procedure on the NHS so was aware that the advice was not to drive so had prepared accordingly, as the doctor did ask after the procedure who was driving me home.

Antonia explained in simple and straightforward detail the process of either a root canal or extraction depending on what she would advise after she carried out a fresh, post antibiotics course. In the event the tooth was badly cracked down the root so was not suitable for root canal treatment. Each step of the extraction process was explained. The procedure was completed. Antonia was the epitomy of pleasant professionalism. If it is not already the case, I would like to be assigned to Antonia as my dentist!

I cannot fault any of my visits to HCA at the Shard. All of the staff were very professional and friendly. The building is extremely clean and comfortable. My appointments were generally on time and if not - the reception staff always communicated any delays. The views are rather impressive too!

Appalling service. Couldn't speak to any one on the phone most of the time as the calls went unanswered and they didn’t respond to emails. Just kept you waiting and didn’t do anything until you finally got through on the phone after many attempts and pushed for answers.
