Professor Sandip Hindocha

Professor Sandip Hindocha is a Consultant Plastic, Reconstructive, Aesthetic, Laser and Hand Surgeon on the GMC Specialist Register for Plastic Surgery (GMC 6122218). He is Clinical Director of the Plastic Surgery & Laser Centre at Bedford Hospital, Visiting Professor at the University of Bedfordshire, and Chief Medical Officer of The Private Clinic Group.

He sees private patients in London (including Harley Street and King Edward VII's Hospital), Bedford, Luton, Northampton, Manchester (Hale), Cheshire (Northwich) and Newton-le-Willows. He carries out every operation he agrees to take on himself, and looks after each patient from first consultation to final follow-up.

Motiva Preservé: Professor Hindocha is certified by Motiva in the Preservé technique, a minimally invasive breast augmentation that places a Motiva Ergonomix2 implant through a small incision of around 2.5 to 3 cm, designed to preserve the patient's own breast tissue. It is usually carried out as a day case.

Cosmetic surgery: breast augmentation, breast uplift, breast reduction, breast asymmetry correction, implant exchange, removal and revision, and nipple and areola surgery; tummy tuck (including mini tummy tuck and muscle repair), mummy makeover, liposuction (including VASER), fat transfer, arm, thigh and buttock lifts, and labiaplasty; facelift, neck lift, brow lift, eyelid surgery, rhinoplasty and ear correction; and procedures for men, including gynaecomastia surgery and pectoral implants.

Reconstructive and hand surgery: breast reconstruction (DIEP flap, implant-based and fat transfer), skin cancer surgery for basal cell carcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma and melanoma, removal of moles, cysts and tattoos, scar revision, trauma reconstruction, and hand surgery for carpal and cubital tunnel syndrome, Dupuytren's disease, trigger finger, ganglion cysts, tendon injuries, hand fractures and thumb-base arthritis.

Non-surgical treatments: anti-wrinkle injections, dermal fillers, Profhilo, PRP, chemical peels and laser skin treatments.

Medicolegal: he prepares expert witness reports in personal injury, clinical negligence and criminal cases.

Training: Professor Hindocha qualified in medicine from the University of Manchester in 2005. He trained in plastic surgery in Manchester and Liverpool, with further training in Dallas (USA) and Toronto (Canada), and completed a recognised cosmetic surgery fellowship. He holds an MPhil (2009) and a research MD (2013) from the University of Manchester, and was awarded the FRCS (Plast), the specialist fellowship in plastic surgery, in 2016.

Research and teaching: He has published more than 100 peer-reviewed papers and several book chapters, including research into the genetics of Dupuytren's disease, and founded the Bedford FRCS (Plast) course for surgeons in training. His awards include the Society of Academic Research Surgeons prize (2009) and a Royal College of Surgeons of England Research Fellowship.
