Dr Thines Karunakaran

Dr. Thines Karunakaran is a Consultant Gastroenterologist and Physician at Colchester Hospital, specialising in the diagnosis and management of a broad range of digestive and liver conditions. His clinical expertise spans hepatopancreatobiliary (HPB) disease, irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), reflux, and inflammatory bowel disease (IBD).

Alongside his general gastroenterology practice, Dr. Karunakaran has specialist proficiency in advanced endoscopic procedures, including Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) and Endoscopic Ultrasound (EUS). As an active member of the HPB cancer multidisciplinary team, he collaborates closely with surgeons, oncologists, and radiologists to deliver tailored, evidence-based care for patients with pancreatic and biliary conditions.
