    About

Ms Natasha Spiteri is a consultant ophthalmologist with a special interest in cornea, the anterior segment of the eye and cataract and refractive surgery.

She graduated from Medical School in Malta in 2004, after which she undertook ophthalmic training in the Mersey region in the UK. Ms Spiteri then spent a year of further intensive training in corneal disease in Sydney, Australia, where she gained experience in corneal transplant and other corneal surgery.

Upon her return to the UK in 2017, she took up a consultant post at the Countess of Chester Hospital. Here, she has invested much time and effort developing the cornea service, which now offers a range of corneal transplant procedures, and also provides a more comprehensive range of treatment options for dry eye disease and other corneal pathology.

During her first year back in the UK, Ms Spiteri also undertook a postgraduate diploma in cataract and refractive surgery with the University of Ulster, where she learned about various surgical and laser treatment options to reduce dependence on spectacles.

Ms Spiteri has a particular passion for education and training, and is currently College Tutor at the Countess of Chester Hospital, responsible for the coordination and delivery of local training of young ophthalmologists. She also regularly participates in cataract and microsurgical training courses at the Royal College of Ophthalmologists.

Ms Spiteri is experienced in cataract surgery including complex cases, various types of corneal transplant surgery and pterygium surgery. She also offers YAG laser posterior capsulotomy treatment, as well as detailed management plans for cases of persistent blepharitis and dry eye disease.

My experience with Ms Natasha Spiteri is of extreme satisfaction. Ms Spiteri carried out a comprehensive eye examination, and communicated the current health of both my eyes in a uniquely reassuring manner. I travelled from overseas to visit Ms Spiteri at her ophthalmic clinic, and there is no question in my mind that she's one of a kind! Highly recommended.

The outcome is amazing. Crystal clear distance vision. With mild prescription I can can read the bottom line on my opticians chart, which he says is excellent. Both eyes were measured at the first consultation. Operations were painless, about 10 weeks apart, Ms Spiteri pleasant throughout. Very pleased with outcome.

I was initially very anxious about the eye procedure but Ms Spiteri was excellent at putting me at ease and explaining everything very clearly. The procedure itself was more straight forward than I had imagined and the result, in each eye, is excellent.
