Ms Natasha Spiteri is a consultant ophthalmologist with a special interest in cornea, the anterior segment of the eye and cataract and refractive surgery.
She graduated from Medical School in Malta in 2004, after which she undertook ophthalmic training in the Mersey region in the UK. Ms Spiteri then spent a year of further intensive training in corneal disease in Sydney, Australia, where she gained experience in corneal transplant and other corneal surgery.
Upon her return to the UK in 2017, she took up a consultant post at the Countess of Chester Hospital. Here, she has invested much time and effort developing the cornea service, which now offers a range of corneal transplant procedures, and also provides a more comprehensive range of treatment options for dry eye disease and other corneal pathology.
During her first year back in the UK, Ms Spiteri also undertook a postgraduate diploma in cataract and refractive surgery with the University of Ulster, where she learned about various surgical and laser treatment options to reduce dependence on spectacles.
Ms Spiteri holds a private practice at Nuffield, The Grosvenor Hospital in Chester where she offers cataract surgery including complex cases, pterygium surgery, YAG laser posterior capsulotomy treatment, as well as detailed management plans for cases of persistent blepharitis and dry eye disease, amongst other general eye conditions.
In February 2022 Ms Spiteri joined the team at Newmedica in Shrewsbury, who currently offer cataract surgery and YAG laser posterior capsulotomies to both NHS and private patients, with other services to be offered in the near future.
Ms Spiteri has a particular passion for education and training, and is currently College Tutor at the Countess of Chester Hospital, responsible for the coordination and delivery of local training of young ophthalmologists. She also regularly participates in cataract and microsurgical training courses at the Royal College of Ophthalmologists.

Ms Spiteri's examination was thorough and her summary of my eye condition was very clear, as was the description, and the risks, of the potential treatments. She supplemented her explanation by sending me an excellent link to information leaflets which I found very useful. Also her offer to be available for consultation should my condition deteriorate was reassuring. At all times I was confident of her ability and found her manner very reassuring and pleasant
