Thames View at Charing Cross Hospital

I actually did not get to use the facilities in the private wing of Charing Cross Hospital, as I was seen in neurophysiology on level three of the NHS departments. The only time I had to go up to the 15th floor was to get two forms, stamped and provide my pre-authorisation number that meant getting in a crowded lift and riding up to the 15th floor, which took a very long time as the lift stopped on nearly every floor. Then I had to go back down to level three for tests. It was actually quite stressful for someone with my health conditions to do this, and to be expected to do this administration as the patient!. The waiting area in the NHS department was not relaxing, it was very hot, no natural light was had limited/poor ventilation and the receptionist was quite rude. The medical staff were more polite. When I pay for private healthcare, I prefer to stay in the private department than in the crowded NHS areas. I gather on this occasion the tests were not available in the private wing, but perhaps another hospital where the consultant worked would’ve been able to accommodate. I was not informed that the tests would be in the NHS department.

Mr Daniel Dowen

On admission to Sunderland Royal Hospital in February 2025 I was placed in the care of Mr. Dowen. I was in very severe pain in my right leg after a fall at home in November 2024. Despite earlier hospitalisation I had had 16 weeks without any alleviation of the pain. The care I received from Mr Dowen and his whole team was second to none. I couldn’t have been in better hands. Within a very few days Mr Dowen carried out a very complex operation which was followed by 48 hours in Intensive Care and I was soon totally without pain. The bedside manners of Mr Dowen and his team were excellent. All procedures were explained to me before they were carried out. Although they were all busy people they made me feel that they had all the time in the world for me. The aftercare I received on discharge was just as good with several outpatient visits arranged, mainly with Mr Dowen himself, so that he could keep tabs on my progress. I honestly don’t think I could have had any better care and will always be very grateful for the treatment I received.

Mr Osama Aweid

I had a fantastic experience with Mr. Osama Aweid following a skiing accident last year in which I tore my ACL and damaged my meniscus. From my very first consultation at the Fortius Clinic in London, Mr. Aweid was incredibly approachable, reassuring, and clear. He took the time to explain everything thoroughly — not only how the surgery would be performed, but also what to expect throughout the recovery process. This helped set very clear expectations from the start and made me feel completely at ease and confident in his care. The operation went extremely well, and I have since made a great recovery. I am still doing some physiotherapy, but my knee feels strong and stable, and the scarring is excellent. I am really grateful for the care, professionalism, and support Mr. Aweid provided throughout the whole process, and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend him to anyone needing knee surgery.

I was referred to Mr. Perera through our private insurance company Aviva. From the start Mr. Perera was welcoming and following X rays, discussed treatment and corrective surgery for my bunion problem and my toes. He went through the surgery procedure, explaining clearly what he would do and what to expect after the surgery. On the day of surgery he went through everything again with me, prior to the operation. I was kept in overnight and have had several follow up outpatient appointments. I would highly recommend Mr. Perera for his excellent bedside manner, knowledge and professionalism.

My surgery took place there and had to stay overnight due to vertigo and dizziness. The hospital was friendly, new and pristine. The nursing staff outstanding as well as of course the medical team. I had dinner and breakfast and it was also healthy and delicious. Yesterday I returned to have the dressing removed and it was equally good. If any criticism would be to the pharmacy with a 30minute wait to get my prescription and also despite being a Bupa hospital not having the availity to charge Bupa for medication- I am under Bupa Global and in other Bupa hospitals this is the case.

I visited twice due to a stiffness in my neck. Rey was exceptionally friendly from the start and I felt I was listened to and he understood the issues I had been experiencing. I was very happy with the treatment feeling a notable difference minutes after the first session. They really do give good customer service and will not try to add extra, unnecessary sessions to get more money - my treatment lasted two sessions, and I was told to listen to my body and get back in contact if and when I need to. I will definitely be going back, even if it’s just for a quick readjustment.

I recently visited Mr Challand (Jan 2026) for an initial consultation to discuss some post childbearing issues (haemorrhoid's). Mr Challand was amazing from start to finish, he made me feel so at ease in a subject that is so personal to myself. Mr Challand thoroughly explained all treatment options in a professional manner yet in layman’s terms so that I understood fully what treatment operations are available and the full extent of my condition. The appointment was not rushed and Mr Challand answered all my questions at a high level and has made me feel so at ease.

Today I visited Dr Devalia and his team, through recommendation. I went in slightly worried with symptoms I was experiencing but Dr Devalia and his team were so friendly and did everything in such a calming and respectful manor which really Put my mind at ease. I was sent straight across for an ultrasound which was thankfully all clear , Dr Devalia spent time with me after too just checking I was absolutely reassured and answered any further questions I had. I would absolutely recommend Dr Devalia to anybody. Thank you again

Hugest thanks to Dr Onur Gilleard for removing the cyst like lump on my face - he is an incredible highly skilled surgeon - the procedure was pain free, very quick and I couldn't believe how neat and small the incision and stitches were which are healing beautifully. It was only a week ago however I have absolutely no doubt that there will be minimal scarring due to his expertise. Dr Gilleard and the nurse were incredibly kind and caring and totally put me at ease. Would very much recommend to anyone.

Cannot tell you about my visit as my reply to asking for an appointment is we don’t have and appointments and try calling on a Monday Tuesday or Thursday. Absolutely disgusting I’d be happy if given a date in a months time . You know you can never either get through on the phone or online to ge pain and with many other issues t an appointment. Spend a hour on hold to be told there are no appointments so I’m living in absolute pain and many other issues what a waste of time

Mr Oakley could not of been more helpfull in explaining to me the complexities of the operation I was going to have on my knee.Unfortunately on my first visit to the Operating theatre there was a slight problem but it was dealt with without any fuss by his team and I had the procedure done a fortnight later,with great success I might add.The aftercare I had was second to none and I have no complaints whatsoever.Doubles and trebles all round.Cheers!

I had the Aquablation surgery under Mr Brewin at New Hall. I spent a long time researching surgeons who perform this procedure and I am very pleased I chose Mr Brewin. I live a very long way from Salisbury but it was worth the journey. I am extremely pleased with the outcome. My only regret is that I wish I'd had the treatment earlier. Mr Brewin is down to earth charming and Knowledgeable and I would highly recommend.

After failing to get an appointment with my GP, my Daughter made an appointment for me at WLC , within a couple of hours of phoning I was seen by the lovely Dr. York. She identified me having a chest infection, and reduced power in my lungs . Collected prescription from chemist. At 82 , I think I would have ended up in hospital had it not seen this Doctor. Amazing service Now a day later feeling much better. 😎

It is a lovely, calm setting, always very clean, with friendly and welcoming staff, including the midwives, who made each visit enjoyable.
