About Mr Tony Bateman
Mr Bateman is a kind and compassionate double fellowship trained spinal surgeon with experience of managing degenerative, traumatic and metastatic disease of the whole spine from occiput to sacrum.
He completed a complex spine surgery fellowship offered through the University of Toronto and has been a substantive Consultant at University Hospitals of Derby and Burton NHS Foundation Trust since 2017. His clinical practice includes the emergency and elective management of degenerative, traumatic and metastatic spinal disease.
He has a Diploma in Sports and Exercise medicine and has provided medical support for various events including the Olympics in 2012 and various rowing and motorsport events.
He is a member of several professional societies and actively involved in research.
