Surgery for long term acid reflux, during sleep this was causing choking & difficulty breathing also constant throat pain over a number of years. Mr Raslan was very understanding that these long term issues had worsened & where now having a severe effect. The surgery that was offered was fully explained & easily understandable. He was also very honest when explaining associated risks, even though these where small. We went ahead with the surgery, Mr Raslan and all of the staff treated me with a high level of respect, care & understanding. I felt very reassured throughout, both before & after surgery. This is something that they do countless times a day every day but i was made to feel as if i was there one and only patient. I felt completely reasurred and at peace going into surgery due to the extremely high level of care. The surgery has been a complete 100% success, the throat pain i'd suffered for a number of years had immediately disappeared. Mr Raslan came to see me shortly after & was again very caring & reassuring. Explaining how surgery had gone, asking how i was feeling & explaining what both my short & long term recovery should look like. He was very clear on what to expect of my bodies recovery & of my diet plan over the coming six weeks. Again the care of every single member of staff was outstanding, attentive caring & reassuring throughout. Mr Raslan visited me again the next day to discuss how i was recovering & confirming i was safe to be discharged. He even offered me the chance of an extra night in Hospital to recover if i felt i needed it. I was more than happy to be discharged, feeling completely reassured by the best quality of service of every member of staff. Especially Mr Raslan who has been outstanding throughout & is a definite asset and credit to the NHS.

Practice Plus Group Hospital, Barlborough

I had knee replacement surgery at the Practice Plus hospital at Barlborough on 29th November. The pain I experienced during the two weeks following the surgery on a scale of 1 to 10 I would rate at 8 to 9. Now that I am in my eight week of recovery my pain level is 1 or2 I had a problem in that during the first 2 weeks after surgery I was hardly able to sleep due to the pain when lying down and some nights I had zero hours of sleep. After discussion with the hospital pharmacist it became evident that one of the pain killing medicines I had been prescribed had insomnia as one of it’s side effects. After stopping this medication and taking an alternative my sleep pattern returned to normal and my recovery accelerated. From the experiences of friends who had undergone this surgery I knew that physiotherapy was the key to a successful outcome. The physiotherapy I received at Barlborough was exceptional. By following their exercise plans and receiving guidance at my follow-up visits I am now able walk for one hour virtually pain free, ride my static bike at home and if all goes well should be able to ride my bike on the road in a few weeks time. I accompanied my teenage daughter to visit Dr Jog, following an initial consultation where my husband had been present. During the initial consultation, I had been overseas with work and because of the conviction my husband spoke about Dr Jog, I felt reassured and comforted that my daughter was in safe hands. Not being home for such a significant consultation was difficult but Dr Jog’s professionalism, confidence and assurance, as relayed by both my daughter and husband, made it a little easier for me. When it was time for our next consultation, we were apprehensive but were immediately put at ease by Dr Jog. She was sensitive to my daughter’s feelings, treated her with respect and grace, and spoke to her clearly without ambiguity. Dr Jog’s presence and conduct throughout our interactions was refreshing and reassuring. We would have rather not needed to attend the clinic at all, however I am grateful to Dr Jog for making the experience as positive as she did, for her kind words to my daughter and most importantly giving my daughter confidence on leaving the hospital to conquer the world! She is a true role model to young women.

My first appointment with Dr James Thing went very well though I had to phone the clinic to say that I would be late for my appointment since the taxi broke down on the way. I arrived at the clinic with my husband 15 minutes late, but I was seen by Dr Thing without further delay. He told us that there was a patient who was on hour late on that day perhaps due to the cold weather. Dr Thing checked my medical details, my knee conditions in both legs, examined my knees carefully before looking them closely on the screen. I had bilateral Ostenil Plus Knee injections while the doctor was guided by Ultrasound Scan to insert the needles into the exact area of my knees. I had a little sensation when the needles were inserted but it was done in a gentle manner that I was feeling alright throughout the time of insertion. The whole procedure went smoothly and the doctor said he would see me in a year's time. In the meantime I was to take it easy and rest well for my knees to heal and he would write me an email in three weeks' time to see how I was doing.

As a someone who has never experienced detox/rehab, group therapy, meetings, psychiatric evaluation or support and with very little exposure to discussion or open dialogue about my addition or indeed addiction in general it would have been helpful to have a better introduction/orientation to the process, perimeters, etiquette etc. I full appreciate the variables and ambiguities in an environment such as this but even being aware of what they might be would have been helpful. I felt my length of stay and the detox treatment was minimised and at times mocked, invalidating my treatment, commitment and if I’m honest, my character. I felt ridiculous and vulnerable and two particular group sessions. I would never have mocked anyone else’s efforts or derided anyone on their multiple attempts at recovery but if I had I would have fully expected to be challenged for doing so - I didn’t feel there was anyone interested in challenging the negativity directed towards me and it left me feeling quite isolated and undermined.

Miss Sascha Dua is a great professional—respectful, knowledgeable, and caring. I was very scared to be in a breast cancer unit for the very first time, but she was wonderful at breaking the ice and making me feel comfortable. She was attentive and taught me how to properly perform self-examinations, which made me realise I had always been doing them incorrectly. Her team is also amazing and very caring. They sent me letters in advance introducing the team and explaining in detail how the process works, which was incredibly helpful. My husband and I were very happy with the whole process. I truly wish all doctors’ appointments were this supportive.

The treatment I received at the Matrix Eye Clinic was excellent from both Mr Guy Smith and his first class team. The results from the cataract operation in both eyes is sensational. My eyesight is significantly improved, the length, the accuracy and the intensity of the colour are all enhanced. I am absolutely delighted. Before I had the operation I was considering exchanging our television for a new model because I was having difficulty in reading small print and the scene was blurred. Now I can enjoy watching. Hugest thanks to Dr Onur Gilleard for removing the cyst like lump on my face - he is an incredible highly skilled surgeon - the procedure was pain free, very quick and I couldn't believe how neat and small the incision and stitches were which are healing beautifully. It was only a week ago however I have absolutely no doubt that there will be minimal scarring due to his expertise. Dr Gilleard and the nurse were incredibly kind and caring and totally put me at ease. Would very much recommend to anyone.

This was a follow up after an intial appointment 6 months ago which was a negative experience, I was however sent for an MRI without much hope of help in the future.just more pain! Attended MRI mistakenly procedure was for the wrong foot. Persuaded the Radiographer to do other one she did however take the affected foot, proving severe arthritis exists in my foot. Distressed to get result yesterday and would have liked a definite follow up appointment not just I think will be seeing you in the future

Mr Saravelos and his team made us feel at such ease for our Frozen Embryo Transfer. He was so patient and helped talk through the procedure in a way I could understand. He kept me calm through the procedure, which previously have been a really painful experience for him. The Nurse Raj was also great and helpful and managed to get all our prescriptions done before the transfer so we didn’t have to wait around. Really great time and brilliant experience.

Dr. Agathou was extremely thorough during my visit. She managed to sift through my long, rather complex medical history in conversation and deliver a very detailed, accurate clinical summary. Dr. Agathou was warm, understanding, and very knowledgeable. Since my appointment, she and her Secretary, Abdulaziz, also worked hard to ensure that I have critical medication, despite supply constraints. I look forward to continuing to work with Dr. Agathou.

Spire Harpenden Hospital

The only area for improvement is the check-in process - quite often there is a queue of people waiting at reception and the vehicle registration screen is separate to the check-in form, which isn't very efficient. The waiting area and exam rooms are clean and tidy, the staff is friendly and helpful. I prefer coming here despite it being a longer drive than my nearest private hospital because of the great experience I've had previously.
