I came in for day surgery, the day care I received was great however, after surgery I was advised that I should stay over night as my blood pressure was very low and as I lived quite a distance from the hospital. Once the day nurses left another nurse looked after me. She made me feel, and by the comments she made to me and in front of my husband, that I was not needing to be there, I felt like a nuisance to her. My husband left around 9pm. This nurse then came back to see me maybe once, she tied a piece of sting to the help cord and to my bed and told me to put that if I needed her. There was no offer of food as she told me the chief had gone home. I was so hungry as the sandwich I had at lunch time I didn’t feel like eating. I hadn’t been up on my own at that and felt like I could’t ask her for help. when I needed help in the night to use the bathroom I got up on my own and walked along the wall to the bathroom. I felt alone and worried. The next morning a lovely lady came in with the breakfast menu and was horrified when I told her that I had had nothing to eat but some biscuits the day before. She got me some breakfast as soon as she could. It’s a shame as before the night nurse came I couldn’t fault the care I had received.

From making the enquiry to having the operation the communication was excellent, except that paperwork wise I seemed to get 2 copies of everything. The staff were very friendly, professional and efficient. The procedure was a success but I do have a follow up appointment in June to check that it is all ok. Communication since the operation has not been so easy, I ran out of drops and the number I rang was not answered and I was offered a ring back facility which did not work except for the Admin section at Whitely. There were a couple of occasions one an appointment change the other to get more drops when this happened, when I did get through the tie up with the phone and the hospital did not work, and I turned up when it was closed. I was introduced by a friend and read once surgery was completed they would get £200 for the introduction 6-8 weeks after. This did not happen within the period although I understand this has now been rectified.

Mr chan’s manner, knowledge and professionalism is simply excellent.

Have a human being intervene or inspect those messages before they're sent out or don't send them at all. No good saying ignore that after 2 days
