About Mr Simon Gane
Mr Simon Gane, Consultant Rhinologist and ENT Surgeon, currently works at Moorfields Eye Hospital and the Royal National Throat, Nose and Ear Hospital in London. He is a highly experienced surgeon with over ten years of training, who specialises in rhinology, nasal inflammatory disease, smell disorders, benign nasal tumours, sinus surgery, anterior base skull surgery, and Hereditary Haemorrhagic Telangiectasia (HHT).
Mr Gane began his medical education abroad in South Africa, qualifying in medicine in 1996 from the University of Cape Town. Following this, he went on to do his post-graduate qualifications in the UK—specialist surgical training in London as part of the North Thames Deanery. During his training, he became a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England and was given membership of the Royal College of Surgeons, Edinburgh.
Mr Gane is an active member of the research community, with over 30 peer-reviewed publications and book chapters focusing on rhinology and smell. Mr Gane remains an active researcher and was awarded his MPhil in the physics of human olfaction and the olfactory receptor in 2019.
He is a member of the British Rhinology Society, the European Rhinology Society, and a Fellow of the Centre for Olfactory Research and Application, Institute for Advanced Study, UoL.
