Mr Mark Harris is a Consultant Spinal Surgeon specialising in the management of spinal conditions in children and young people. He currently practices at the internationally acclaimed Great Ormond Street Hospital as well as St Thomas' Hospital. He also practices privately at The Portland Hospital for Women and Children.
In his current posts, Mr Harris provides patient-centred care for children and young people with complex spinal conditions. He typically performs around 120 deformity correction operations a year which is a testament to his extensive expertise in paediatric spinal surgery.
Mr Harris completed his Bachelor's degree in Medical Science at St Andrew's University subsequently completing his medical degree at the University of Manchester in 2003. Soon after, he completed his surgical training at a number of London's top teaching hospitals, including the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital, St George's Hospital, The Royal Free Hospital and Guy's & St Thomas' Hospital. He also trained on the South West Thames Trauma and Orthopaedics Rotation and became a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons during this training. Following his training, he also completed subspecialist fellowships in Spinal Surgery at St George's University Hospital and Great Ormond Street Hospital.
In addition to his clinical work, Mr Harris is a trainer of future spinal surgeons and acts as an Educational Supervisor to his colleagues at the Great Ormond Street Hospital. He is regularly invited to teach on spinal surgery courses in his area of expertise.
