Having developed quite acute urine retention symptoms about six months previously (having managed an enlarged prostate condition for a number of years reasonably successfully) I was in the position of having to deal with various forms of catheter (and occasional attendant complications such as UTIs). As someone who had a reasonable level of fitness (e.g. rugby referee) a catheter makes one something of an invalid and life just becomes more complicated and somewhat depressing. Tevita Aho was strongly recommended to me by a friend and I finally made an appointment with him because I was faced with a serious, and ever-growing, waiting list for NHS treatment. Tev was extremely friendly, refreshingly honest and straightforward about treatment options and prognoses. HoLEP was the recommended option and he was able to operate on me surprisingly quickly. The operation, under general anaesthetic, appeared to be 'routine' and I awoke with no pain whatsoever and a new type of catheter that was flushing my bladder of the debris created by the operation. Straight back to the ward, encouraged to walk about! and my urine was checked regularly for a colour change (port wine to provencale rose was the hoped-for progress). The colour change occurred and I was discharged later the same day. Bed rest for four days while the bladder drains and then the joy of catheter removal. Since then my recovery has been steady and complete. At first bladder control is challenging - you have to be very quick when you feel the urge! But to my complete astonishment I never wet the bed once and with continued pelvic floor exercises the control returns, and being able to pee (as Tev says: "Like a teenager") and empty the bladder has been one of those joys of life. My life has been transformed by this operation and I feel incredible gratitude to Tev, his team and the HoLEP procedure that has given me the fitness and general health that I had thought had been lost. I cannot recommend Tevita Aho sufficiently strongly, words seem insufficient.

I was delighted with my recent visit to One Hatfield Hospital. a) The hospital was easy to find. b) The parking was perfect, and I immediately found a parking space. c).I loved the look of the hospital, and the high ceilings and modern appearance I found very uplifting. When I went inside the hospital I was greeted by Georgia at the desk, who took me through the registration process, and I also registered my car. I sat down for a very short time and then Mrs. Fiona Batesan ( with whom I had an audiology appointment) came out to greet me, and she took me in to her consulting room. I also met Amy who was the very friendly nurse who was assisting. I thoroughly recommend Mrs. Fiona Bateson. Finally, I had a delicious snack in the little cafe. Sam was serving and he was very attentive and interesting to speak to. I forgot to mention the toilets, which were very clean, and I was slightly amused when the male cleaner rushed outside the moment that I entered the toilets. All in all, I had a very positive experience of my visit to the One Hatfield Hospital, and I shall certainly be recommending the hospital to everyone. Since my visit I have heard of a friend who had his NHS. hip.or knee replacement at the hospital, and he was also very pleased with his experience. I have to say.I Had another amazing experience at my appointment. This hospital has to be the best hospital I have ever attended.. From the minute you walk in the doors of the hospital, you are just made feel so welcome. The staff at the reception are so helpful and friendly. The two lovely people in the scanning sre also incredibly. They are just so kind and considerate and so friendly.too. The hospital itself is just stunning. Its like stepping into a 5 star Hotel. There is a lovely ambience in the hospital. I have to take this opportunity to say a massive thank you , to Dr Gérard Kelly. He is an amazing surgeon. I am so pleased with the surgery.. He did a fantastic job. He is so patient orientated. He is so very friendly , he has a lovely manner when speaking with his patients. Which is rare these day's. He explains everything in detail regarding your procedure you are having. He listens to what you have to say, and allows you to voice any concerns or worries you have regarding your surgery. He is a lovely Gentleman, I can praise him enough for all he has done for me. Even the aftercare I received was exceptional. After careful consideration and conversations with other surgeons, I decided to have an upper blepharoplasty with Huw, and I'm so pleased I did. From the outset, Huw was kind, gentle, and realistic about how he could help me, while also being sympathetic to my desired outcome. He listened carefully and I felt reassured by his knowledge, professionalism and sensitivity, his kind and caring manner. On the day of surgery, he was compassionate and reassuring. He was especially gentle and seemed intuitively to understand how I was feeling. I also felt very confident in his ability as a surgeon. I trust and appreciate his considered approach, and genuinely feel he wanted the best for me, both in terms of the surgery on the day and how I'd look in the future, years down the line. I have been so pleased by my experience, and results as a whole, if I had any future eye surgery, I would only now go to Huw. He had my best interests at heart, and I have felt very well cared for and looked after. He is very skilled in what he does, and I can't recommend him enough to anyone considering embarking on ocular surgery.

If I had had my post procedure check with the Consultant who did the procedure at Kingsbridge and not at Specsavers, who referred me. I would not have had to make the recent appointment. I would have been able to ask the questions and get answers that Specsavers were not able to reassure me about. My recent appointment with Mr. Spence did exactly that. I explained my concerns about my after procedure experience and he was able to explain in detail and reassure me. Had my 6 weeks post procedure appointment be been with my consultant at Kingsbridge I would have been able to have my concerns answered then and would not have gone through weeks of worry, 2 visits to Specsavers (one which I was charged £25 for a full eye health check which I did not need) The reason I booked the last appointment at Kingsbridge was because I had concerns and was getting no answers. I therefore feel it is important that the post procedure check should be with the consultant who carried out the procedure, so that any worries or concerns can be addressed.

As a nervous patient I'd always found it very difficult visiting the dentist and had neglected my teeth, but the Oceana team are all so understanding and the environment there is so welcoming, that my visits to the dentist are no bother to me now. I'd visited more than one dentist in Southampton before deciding (very quickly) that Oceana was the one. Right from day one, I walked in and spoke to Jade about what I suspected I needed, she listened, gave advice and got me booked in. I'm having a lot of work done including root canals - Ian has been incredible for that - he creates a very calm environment and works gently at a pace that is comfortable for me. I've had most of the work done with Ian so far but Adnan has been fantastic too on other appointments, always taking the time to explain my options. Overall would definitely recommend.

Attended for an SVT ablation by Prof Lambiase. Blood and MSRA tests done evening before, very convenient after short wait. Early check-in at 06:30, a short wait and then taken up to 5th floor for procedure. All extremely clean, staff very competent and helpful. Pre-op visit by Prof and anaesthetist, who were both extremely caring and gave full explanations and advice. Procedure went smoothly, comfortable and attentive in the theatre. Apparently went well! Follow-up overnight very comfortable, appropriate meals, even if breakfast order got scrambled! Spacious room with TV and shower. Thorough medical attention and full explanations, cannot fault either the professionals or the clinic. Visitors made welcome and unlimited access.

Paul has been a complete lifesaver. I came to him with neck / back pain but only a couple of months to train for a 6 mile charity swim... Within the first session, Paul identified the cause of the problem and had me back in the water that week (with a snorkel!). He was able to relieve the pain and the exercises targeted the issue but were feasible around my day-to-day / other training. His swimming experience was invaluable, and I really don’t think I would have been in a position to complete the big swim without his help, guidance and encouragement! I couldn’t recommend him enough. Thank you Paul!
