About Mr Edward Ibrahim
Mr Edward Ibrahim is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon specialising in the diagnosis and treatment of shoulder and elbow conditions, with additional expertise in hand, wrist and upper-limb nerve problems. He treats a wide range of conditions, including persistent pain, sports injuries, tendon tears, joint instability, arthritis and fractures.
Central to his approach is establishing an accurate diagnosis before recommending treatment. Mr Ibrahim takes time to listen carefully to each patient’s concerns, undertake a thorough clinical examination and personally review relevant imaging, including X-rays, ultrasound, MRI and CT scans. By interpreting these investigations alongside the patient’s symptoms and examination findings, he aims to identify the underlying problem and explain the available treatment options clearly.
Mr Ibrahim believes that the best treatment decisions come from understanding the patient as well as their condition. He considers how symptoms affect everyday life, work, sleep, sport and personal wellbeing, recognising that different patients may have very different priorities. His approach is based on open discussion, shared decision-making and providing the same honest advice he would want for himself or a member of his family.
He only recommends surgery when he believes the likely benefits justify the risks and recovery involved. Many conditions can be managed successfully without an operation,
using physiotherapy, rehabilitation, injections or other non-surgical treatments. When surgery is appropriate, he offers specialist procedures including shoulder and elbow arthroscopy, tendon repair, nerve decompression, joint stabilisation and joint replacement.
Mr Ibrahim now works in full-time private practice, having previously practiced as an NHS Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at Chelsea and Westminster Foundation Trust, where he also served as Service Director for Trauma and Orthopaedics at the West Middlesex site.
Mr Ibrahim graduated from University College London with distinction in Medicine and first-class honours in Orthopaedic Science, including accredited time at Harvard University. His specialist training included the Oxford School of Surgery, the Imperial College London orthopaedic rotation and upper-limb fellowships in the UK and Europe. He also received first prize for his Master’s degree in Surgical Education.
A keen tennis player who has competed for the University of London and Queen’s Club, Mr Ibrahim understands the importance of helping patients return to the activities they enjoy, whether competitive sport, recreational exercise or everyday life.

Mr Edward Ibrahim holds a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery with distinction and first-class honours in Orthopaedics from University College London (2006), a Master’s in Surgical Education from Imperial College London (2012). Needed surgery to debride and anchor the common flexor tendon back onto the elbow following a shotput injury. Dr Ibrahim was great walking me through the MRI diagnoses and discussing options. Surgery was very smooth and recovery has been better than expected so far. Had a post-surgical follow-up with Dr Ibrahim today where we discussed rehab and various interventions to try and speed recovery.
I would highly recommend Mr Ibrahim. He was excellent throughout my consultation: professional, friendly and approachable. He took the time to explain my MRI results in detail and clearly outlined the options available to me, ensuring I fully understood the next steps. Mr Ibrahim was also able to carry out my injection on the same day. Throughout the procedure, he continually checked that I was comfortable and not experiencing any pain, which was very reassuring and demonstrated his genuine care and consideration for his patients. I would also like to thank his secretary, Tanya, who went above and beyond to arrange an appointment for me that same day. Her efficiency and willingness to help were greatly appreciated. My brother had previously been a patient of Mr Ibrahim and was equally complimentary about his manner and his medical and surgical skills, which further reinforced my confidence in choosing him. I would not hesitate to recommend Mr Ibrahim to anyone seeking an excellent, knowledgeable and compassionate specialist.
