Dr Ryckie Wade

Ryckie Wade is a Consultant Plastic & Reconstructive Surgeon based in Leeds, specialising in hand and peripheral nerve surgery. Following 16-years of clinical and academic training, he is an expert clinician and leading academic. Ryckie currently serves as the Senior Clinical Lecturer in Plastic Surgery at the University of Leeds, where his research team focus on improving the outcomes for patients with hand and complex nerve disorders.

Ryckie's clinical practice is underpinned by a significant research background, including a PhD which developed (for the first time) advanced imaging to diagnose nerve injury. His research includes quantitative MRI techniques for diagnosing neuropathy and monitoring recovery, evaluating the cost-effectiveness and prognostic value of tests in nerve disorders and improving hand surgery techniques for the benefit of patients.

Mr Wade is also highly committed to medical education and leadership within his specialty. He is the National Lead for Research, appointed by the Royal College of Surgeons of England to support the delivery of high-priorty plastic surgery research across the UK. He is Co-Director of the prestigeous EXSEL Scholarship Program at the University of Leeds, supporting the education, training and professional development of doctors.
