About Dr. Derrick Phillips
Dr Derrick Phillips is a consultant dermatologist at OneWelbeck Skin Health & Allergy and Skin55 Dermatology.
Dr Phillips obtained his medical degree from University College London Medical School in 2011, graduating with a double merit and achieving First-class honours in the Medical Physics and Bioengineering BSc. He completed his general medical training, gaining experience at prestigious hospitals in London, Singapore and New South Wales, Australia, before embarking on specialist dermatology training in Liverpool.
Dr Phillips worked in the National Health Service for over 13 years and was a consultant at the world-renowned Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust, where he was the clinical lead for psoriasis, overseeing the prestigious biologics clinic. He also held an honorary appointment at Imperial College London as a clinical teacher and site lead for undergraduate teaching.
Dr Phillips has a keen interest in clinical research and has been the principal investigator for multiple high-profile clinical trials, including the SAFA study looking at the efficacy of Spironolactone in treating hormonal acne.
Dr Phillips was awarded the British Association of Dermatologists 2022 Green Prize for his work on sustainability in Dermatological surgery as part of the ‘Dermatology Sustainability UK Group’. He is widely published in scientific literature and is a chapter author in the third edition of ‘The Handbook of Systemic Drug Treatment in Dermatology’.
Dr Phillips is an official spokesperson for the British Skin Foundation, and his commentary is regularly featured in print and online media, including British Vogue, GQ, The Guardian, Tatler and Harper’s Bazaar. He has also provided expert opinions on TV and radio.

I recently visited Dr Phillips as I was looking for a laser treatment for skin rejuvenation. After a consultation where we discussed different options I decided to go ahead with a laser facial using the Lase MD Ultra. The whole experience was smooth from start to finish, I had numbing cream applied and the procedure was very tolerable. I have been really happy with the results. My skin feels smoother, looks much brighter and make up sits on it really well. The downtime was also minimal (less than a few days) and I really liked the retinoid serum I was given to apply for a few days following the procedure. I will definitely be back for further treatments.
