There was a lot of waiting for drops to take effect as part of the treatment but the fact that everytime one of the staff passed they acknowledged you so you didn't feel you had been forgotten, a big plus in my book. There were many times when my DOB and name were checked. This made me feel secure as I think it made me feel that any mix up was very unlikely, another plus in my book. During the set up for the operation I was asked to look into the very bright light. Not a problem for the eye being operated on but keeping my other eye open as requested was difficult for me. Perhaps some form of shading for the other eye could be provided so that the natural instinct to close that eye could be eliminated and thus the natural effect of doing that affecting the eye being operated on. During the operation the surgeon needed to speak to me at times. I am hard of hearing and didn't have my hearing aids in. At times it was hard to hear the surgeon. The issue was worse when the "pump" noise was going. Some of this was the fact that she was a lady with a higher pitch voice, whereas I could easily hear the male voice in the room. I have the same issue hearing my wife for the same reason (I claim!). Perhaps it would be good if the surgeon established if there is a hearing problem and if there is, the voice volume could be raised. I realise that this is my problem but I cannot be unique in this case given the age profile of you patients. This visit was my second eye so I knew what was happening. However, thinking back to my first visit perhaps a slightly better introduction could be given to new patients as to what to expect with the intervals between patient staff interactions to help limit any anxiety they may feel. Also a bit more information regarding the after effects of the operation could help and anxiety at that time. I realise you will wince at this but I found a YouTube video of american origin that went through the after effects step by step and this relieved me as I realised what was happening to me was normal. Overall I was very pleased with the atitude of all the staff I met and the service they provided. Thank you very much.

Mr Tony Nargol

I had a full knee replacement in April 2024,due to bone on bone friction and pain. That affected my lifestyle and movement. Mr Nargol undertook the procedure via a epidural. I was awake for the the whole operation. I was in hospital for about 30hrs in a room to myself and was monitored throughout. I was able to walk out with less pain than I went in with (with medication). I was pain free after four weeks. I was able to resume gardening and able to walk about a mile daily. Throughout Mr Nargol explained the whole procedure in a way that I could understand with kindness and understanding. I was given exercise's to undertake and kept to them as planed and explained. I feel that these were to key to my recovery and full range of movement in my knee. I can not recommend Mr Nargol enough to any one that needs a knee replacement. He has improve my outlook and lifestyle with his knowledge and expertise in this area, to the point that I do not feel that I have a knee replacement. I would like to take this opportunity to thank Mr Nargol in giving me a new lease of life pain free.

Mr Andrew Northeast

Mr Northeast examined my condition at the initial appointment and confirmed that I needed umbilical hernia repair surgery. He explained what the procedure would entail and how my day to day life would be impacted for 4 to 6 weeks after the operation. He also answered all the questions I had about the procedure. He sought the requisite funding for my operation and kept myself and my GP updated on progress. I was fortunate to obtain a cancellation and so my operation date was sooner than I had anticipated. The operation went smoothly and I had very little pain or discomfort following the operation. I subsequently returned to see Mr Northeast approximately 4 weeks after the operation where he examined me and advised me the operation had been a complete success and advised me what I should avoid doing until the full 6 weeks post operation period was complete. Overall I was very pleased with the entire experience and grateful for his expertise.

He went on to clearly and thoroughly explain what the treatment would entail and how this would be done. He checked my understanding at every stage and he created a safe space for me to ask any questions I had and to discuss any fears or concerns about the treatment or its outcomes. I left my consultation absolutely clear on what was in front of me. At all stages Dr Kalla was warm, engaging and very considerate. His path of investigation led to my ultimately receiving a new aortic valve which has saved my life. I recommend him most highly.

This was my second cataract operation on my left eye having had a very successful cataract removal and lenses replacement on my right eye performed by Mr Sian a couple of months earlier at Musgrove Park. Mr Sian’s skills , patience and care are exemplary. The outcome hss exceeded all my expectations. For information I initially saw Mr Sian at the Nuffield and had my resulting procedures at Musgrove Park due to the complexity of both eyes. My comments apply mainly to Musgrove although are also applicable to treatment received by Mr Sian at the Nuffield Taunton.

Mr Saravelos and his team made us feel at such ease for our Frozen Embryo Transfer. He was so patient and helped talk through the procedure in a way I could understand. He kept me calm through the procedure, which previously have been a really painful experience for him. The Nurse Raj was also great and helpful and managed to get all our prescriptions done before the transfer so we didn’t have to wait around. Really great time and brilliant experience.
