From the moment I arrived at The Princess Grace Hospital until the day I was discharged, the standard of care I received was exceptional. The hospital itself is immaculate. Every area was spotlessly clean, calm and welcoming, creating an environment where I immediately felt safe and well cared for. Having my own private room made such a difference to my recovery. It gave me the privacy, comfort and quiet space I needed after major surgery, while also allowing my partner and mum to spend time with me in a relaxed environment. Every single member of the nursing team was outstanding. Without exception, they were compassionate, kind and genuinely caring. They took the time to explain everything clearly, checked on me regularly and ensured I was as comfortable as possible throughout my stay. What stood out most was that they didn’t just care for me—they also welcomed and supported my partner and my mum, making them feel comfortable, informed and included. During what could have been a very stressful experience, that meant so much to all of us. Before I was discharged, I was visited by a pharmacist, a nutritionist and a physiotherapist, each of whom took the time to ensure I had everything I needed to recover safely at home. I never once felt rushed. Every question I had was answered thoroughly, and I left feeling confident that I understood my medications, my recovery plan and what to expect over the coming weeks. The attention to detail throughout my stay was remarkable. Every member of staff I encountered treated me with warmth, professionalism and genuine compassion. It was clear that providing excellent patient care wasn’t just part of their job—it was something they truly cared about. I cannot thank everyone at The Princess Grace Hospital enough for making what was a major operation feel as calm, reassuring and well supported as possible. I cannot praise Mr. Bassem Mettias highly enough. From my very first consultation for a complex left submandibular gland tumor, he demonstrated world-class expertise combined with a genuinely compassionate bedside manner. Hearing a cancer diagnosis is incredibly overwhelming, but Mr. Mettias instantly put me at ease. He is so thorough that during our milestone post-operative consultation, he completely pre-empted almost every single question I had prepared before I even had to ask it. He took the time to explain my MRI results, my surgery, and my long-term care plan with absolute clarity. My surgery at One Hatfield Hospital went flawlessly. Thanks to his exceptional surgical precision, my incision was placed beautifully in a natural neck crease, and it is healing remarkably flat and neat. Furthermore, he took extraordinary care to protect the surrounding facial nerves, resulting in a perfect recovery. He also accurately diagnosed a temporary ear muffled sensation as simple post-op swelling, which brought me immense reassurance. The final pathology report confirmed clear margins and that no further treatment is required. Mr. Mettias has mapped out a meticulous 5-year follow-up plan that gives me total peace of mind. I came to see Simon Cabot after suffering from chronic upper back pain that had been affecting me every day, with very little effective relief. Before moving to the UK from Australia, I had spent years trying physiotherapy without much success. Just before relocating, I started seeing a manual therapist who recommended Simon and put me in touch with him. What really stood out was Simon’s approach. He assessed my issues more thoroughly than I had experienced previously and helped me understand what was contributing to my pain. We developed a regular treatment routine, but perhaps most importantly, he taught me techniques I could use to self-treat between appointments, which has been a huge help. Simon has also regularly checked in on my progress, and I genuinely feel that he cares about seeing his patients improve rather than simply treating them appointment to appointment. Through daily self-treatment and semi-regular sessions with Simon, I have been able to overcome what was previously debilitating chronic pain and get back to living without constant discomfort. I would highly recommend Simon to anyone struggling with persistent or chronic pain. Of all the treatment I’ve experienced over the years, his approach has been by far the most effective for me.

As soon as I met Mr. Sam Rajaratnam, I knew I was in good hands. I had a lot of questions as I had been in pain for a long time. He did not rush me at all, explained my knee issue to me in detail and was incredibly kind and reassuring. I booked my surgery in right away and from that moment, the support of his entire team has been exceptional. It's like nothing I've experienced in any hospital setting. He works with a specific team. Everyone from his brilliant anaesthetist Dr. Barry Phillips (who I wish i could have for any future surgery) to his nurses Magdalena, Christine and Andreia to Ali Yeo (physiotherapist) are amazing. The post op support was also wonderful. You are given a number for the nurses in case you need anything. Magdalena was always available for questions and advice during my recovery post op and was extremely caring. Even pre-op, Daisy (medical secretary to Mr Rajaratnam) was so helpful and supportive. I would recommend Mr Sam Rajaratnam and his team (sorry if I have forgotten any names here) without hesitation. He is an amazing, ethical and extremely skilled surgeon who cares about his patients in a way that is rarely seen these days. If you need surgery, he is the best of the best.

I was quite anxious on arrival, however I felt welcome and relaxed from the first greeting in checking in for my appointment. I was then taken through to a private room and had a medical background conversation and the process that I was going to happen. This was very reassuring and the room has air conditioning for us women of a certain age. The check included a full head to toe check, so bring a hairbrush. I was informed that I would have stickers applied to any areas where she wanted to do a second check and possible photographs to be taken for the dermatologist to look at further. Once completed I was informed of the different types of skin marking I had and leaflets given to read about. I was told it takes 3 working days for my report to come back and if the dermatologist would like to see me I will get a telephone call to go to the Manchester clinic. All in all I felt very reassured and had a lot of laughs with the dr examining me, which lightened the whole process. So thank you, and see you again in 12 months

His knowledge, care and attention gave me great confidence throughout what has been a difficult journey with my shoulder. What impressed me most was his genuine commitment to my ongoing care. He has even agreed to help me in the future should I need any further treatment for my shoulder, despite the fact that I will then be within the NHS system. This level of care and willingness to continue supporting me means a great deal. I am extremely grateful to Professor Gwylim for everything he has done for me. I was a private in patient for a hip replacement from 29 July to 1 August. The experience from start to finish was outstanding. There were many issues with Bupa prior to admission that required a massive input from Pryanka Danbar .. I would like to express my gratitude to her for being so amazingly helpful and informative throughout the process. The ward staff and physios were excellent. The only thing that let down the experience was being moved twice to different wards/rooms during my stay. This was difficult as I was just starting to mobilise and learn techniques for my independence and I had to keep adjusting.

The Vision Scotland practice in Aberdeen is superb. As soon as you walk in you are met with friendly & helpful staff who have everything methodically organised. I’d only a two week wait from the time I had my initial meeting to the day of my surgery. Incredible. On the day of my surgery I was only in the practice for approximately 2 1/2hours. She took a great deal of time getting to know him and understanding how to improve his regimen. We did not feel rushed at all — she went into real detail and clearly has an excellent understanding of teenage skin. We are delighted to have found a dermatologist who can support our son, and would recommend her to any parent in a similar position.

I was glad to be seen, and so quickly. I was glad to receive some information , which helped, regarding the pain in my right hip. I would have liked further information regarding the state of the two damaged tendons over my hip, but also presume yoh feel the main pain is coming from the bursitis.
