I have recently had a hysterectomy performed by Professor Bunkheila. The operation was a great success and I cannot thank the Professor enough for his compassion and care from my initial appointment through to the post op consultation. Professor Bunkheila was the nicest gentleman to deal with, listened to all my concerns and was reassuring and professional when discussing all the pros and cons to having such a procedure. His kind, caring manner made me feel so comfortable and after many years of extreme pain and debilitating medical conditions, I felt finally that someone was actually listening to me and could make a difference. I was very poorly at my initial consultation and now feel 100% recovered and it has been truly life changing. Professor Bunkheila and his medical team of anaesthetists were wonderful on the two occasions of my surgery as I was very nervous, but both times they were so reassuring. All the staff were very kind and efficient, my personal ward room was clean and the catering was very good. I would also like to thank a particular gentleman called Anil who performed my pre operative assessment blood tests, I am very needle phobic and was terrified but he ensured that it was done swiftly and with such kindness towards me, I was so grateful.

Mr Banim did my right total hip replacement on the 24th November 2025. From the initial appointment until my follow up appointment at 6 weeks the service he provided has been exemplary. All procedures were explained to me before they were carried out and I was given lots of opportunities to ask questions. My right leg used to turn out (as far as 3 on a clock). Immediately after the surgery my leg and foot was back in the midline and all pre operative symptoms were resolved. The care I received by all members of the Nuffield team (Chester), including admin staff, catering staff, nurses, doctors and physiotherapists was of the highest standard and I felt safe and cared for at all times. Thank you all. I have no hesitation in recommending Mr Banim as an excellent orthopaedic surgeon and the Nuffield team as an whole for the great job they are doing. I will be back for my left hip done (hopefully not for a while yet!). Thanks again.

Attended for a blood test. I’ve had multiple bad experiences with blood tests over the years. This is primarily because I have very small and narrow veins which disappear with the touch of a needle..☹️ I find the whole experience extremely painful and distressing … I explained all of this to Debbie, the wonderful and kind nurse who attended me. She was brilliant! Totally put me at ease and was incredibly supportive and gentle. I was definitely a challenge for her as my veins were completely uncooperative per usual. But she took her time and used the smallest needle possible to minimise any discomfort. She succeeded in the end and managed to get enough blood for a full blood count!! Miraculous! I am so very grateful to Debbie for turning a potentially very upsetting and negative experience into a positive outcome. She has helped me to regain a little more confidence in having my blood taken again. Thank you Debbie! 😊

I am extremely happy that I chose Dr Derek Ho to perform my cataract surgery. He took his time to explain to me over the phone the different options and to make a recommendation when I asked him to. In the end I went with his suggestion of having a toric EMV lens in both eyes done at the same time. On the day of surgery he was very calm, polite and caring. His surgical skills are second to none. I felt reassured that I was in very experienced and capable hands. I could not believe that the treatment was completely pain free and smooth and easy. I could see very clearly after the operation straight away. Two days after the procedure I am totally amazed by how well I can see. I can now see better than I have ever been able to with glasses when I was younger. A truly transformative operation. I am so grateful to Dr Ho for what he has done for me. He is a great surgeon. Asked to be 15 mins early for scan, but then not called until 30 mins or so after time of appointment without any prior indication of running late (perhaps because it was at 6pm ). Head scanner was still busy so junior radiologer kindly chatted to me for 15 mins after I'd changed to kill time. Having been told it would take 15 mins, scan took about 45 mins and team forgot to talk to me or put music on despite me saying I was a bit claustrophic (but can get by ok). Then at 8pm, no doubt in rush to scan next person, they didn't remove cannula so i wandered around to find another staff member to do that who happily obliged. Not a major problem but not up to Cleveland usual standards. Staff were all very friendly though, but perhaps clinic shouldn't book in patients at end of day if they can't really handle them properly.

My care at this clinic has been outstanding and I would recommend it to anyone needing expert psychiatric support for complex trauma. The service is psychiatry-led, with the consultant coordinating treatment plans and supervising input from psychology, occupational therapy, group therapy and trauma modalities including EMDR, DBT, CBT and embodied psychotherapy. This ensured that care was coherent rather than fragmented. I initially attended four in-person sessions per week and have now safely transitioned to monthly. The team have specialist expertise in workplace bullying, institutional power dynamics and identity-related trauma, which is unusual to find. The level of understanding and clinical leadership has made a meaningful difference to my recovery, and I could not recommend the service more highly.

I was made to wait 6 months for my cataract operations because I had a cardioversion. This is a short sedation rather than a general anaesthetic. I have been given no clinical explanations for this. I am in perfect health despite my age. I understand that a normal waiting time at other hospitals is 6 weeks with good recovery after a major operation. I suspect there are no clinical reasons, just a bureaucratic hesitation to take the slightest risk. I wonder how many patients discover that “Well soon” should be retitled “Well sometime”. Your bureaucratic incompetence is illustrated by your list of specialists which does not include the name of my surgeon, your lead ophthalmologist Dr Marzena Raszewska. It is her recorded ability that persuaded me to wait the 6 months rather than seek an alternative.

My wait time was excellent, I was seen ahead of my appointment time. The individual who picked me up to take me to the MRI was very friendly and kind. Unfortunately, that’s when things got somewhat awkward. The actual MRI attendant who was in charge of asking me the safety questions in advance found herself having a disagreement with a member of staff on another ward whilst with me. I understand that people are overworked and underpaid - resourcing has always been an issues (I have worked for the NHS), however, having an argument over who would tend to someone being seen after me is something that should not have happened infront of me. A joke was made of it when she hung up the phone but it was incredibly uncomfortable for me.

Mr Iain McLaughlin-Symon performed surgery on my left hand to correct dupuytrens contracture on my little finger. The surgery went well and I left hospital with my hand well bandaged and protected. After 1 week a very proffessional nurse removed the big bandage and replaced with a smaller bandage and I was provided with a splint to wear at night to keep the finger straight. Another week later another very proffessional nurse removed the bandage and removed all of the tiny stitches in the wound. The attention to detail by all of the staff who helped me was very impressive and has contributed to the excellent outcome of my surgery.

My recent visit was for a crown fitting and work on the gums. I saw Dr Balawal . I have had a number of appointments with him. He explains what he is doing and, he takes care to ensure the patient is not experiencing any discomfort. I have always understood, and been pleased with, his treatment. He presents as a very competent, conscientious dentist. The reception staff are all polite, helpful and friendly. I am so pleased that I contacted Quality Dental. I have taken out a dental plan and will continue to attend this surgery. I don't know what the other dentists in the practice are like, but I can certainly recommend Dr Balawal.

I had been referred by Bupa and the Dundee location wasn’t the nearest but it was possible to get an appointment sooner. So it proved awkward to drive to but I knew that when booking. For my discharge appointment it wasn’t great driving for three hours round trip for a five min chat that could have been done over the phone. Otherwise I had a really great experience with the team and Dr Mowat. He was speedy, knowledgeable, understanding, patient, professional, friendly and very approachable. I would highly recommend

Oh what a lovely man, he is so kind, gentle and calming. He explained everything thoroughly so you were in doubt what was going to be done. He is so patient and relaxing. I came out of the Consultation Room on cloud nine. I would highly recommend Mr Farrugia to anyone. Hebput me at ease straight away, it's so good to know, there are still some medical staff with a warming bed side manner.
