A Life-Changing Experience – Thank You My wife is 62 years old and has battled alcoholism for 27 years. She had been to rehab three times before, but this time was different. After losing her mother – her last remaining close relative – she turned to alcohol once again, retreating from the world in her grief. As a family, we were at breaking point. In a desperate effort to keep a promise to her late mother, I kept her at home until the funeral so she could attend sober. It was one of the hardest challenges I’ve ever faced, but I managed it. Sadly, after the funeral, the drinking returned and we lost her to the bottle once more. When a small inheritance came through, I decided to try again. From the very first conversation, they understood exactly what we were going through. They acted quickly, knowing how critical timing is — when an addict asks for help, you must act immediately before the addiction takes over again. Addiction is not just the addict’s disease — it affects the whole family. They supported all of us, not just my wife. It’s now been four months, and I see a change in her I have never seen before. She is beginning to embrace sobriety in a genuine, lasting way. She speaks openly when she feels low or has a difficult day, instead of turning to the bottle. That openness has been life-changing for the whole family. I will always be grateful for their understanding, dedication, and wisdom. In theatre, I had to say I couldn’t open my eyes fully as the plastic covering placed over my eyes was rucked and digging into my previously operated rt. eye.. This was then corrected. A large amount of iodine was instilled to my left eye ( later discovered it was all in my hair ), and I said it felt so painful that I was sure my eye was not anaesthetised. I was then told I would have lots more anaesthetic drops which I believe happened. But I felt the eye speculum being put in and the sensation, not pain, of a tiny curved cut to the nose side of my eyes and then the sensation moved to the opposite side of my eye , where I had a sort of digging sensation, no pain, for a couple of seconds. No further discomforts or sensations felt, just extreme relief to be over the ordeal. However good communication throughout and attention paid to what I was experiencing. My eye was completely comfortable afterwards and my recovery was first class for which I am most grateful.

Whilst carrying out the proceedure he ensured that I was fully aware of what was going to happen and kept things light hearted. Post op - great follow up, with clear and concise explanations, welcoming questions. There is an element of familiarity when the doctor approaches you, he finds the ability to relate, which is great, a Doctor that actually talks to you rather than at you! Lastly his secretary always kept in touch regularly , super friendly and always there when you need her. GREAT!

The Loose stones in my bladder , seen in earlier scan (s) at C W S. His need to talk to Consultant Owen Warren , and others already in the C and W loop . The purpose is for absolote clarification . Similarly Mr Smith would discover any facts unclear in the abdominal area . I attempted to give Mr Smith to my best endeavour, my understanding of our discussion . Such a discussion had never taken place with me before ..at C ans W . I agreed the next steps .. the first one being for me to have relevant scans on Thusday 18 the Sept. followed by a second consultation with Mr Smith with me , one to one .

I had a really positive and pleasant experience with the radiographers. There were two of them and they were both very friendly, helpful, patient, careful, knowledgeable and extremely professional. I was very happy with their care. What I was not happy about was the service from the MRI/Scan receptionists, this is the second time I’ve done a scan and each time the receptionists were not friendly, they we’re extremely direct showing no empathy and welcoming presence. They seemed busy with the conversation they were having with each other so I have found on both occasions their service has been very poor. The first time I assumed it was a one off but after experiencing it for the second time I feel it’s necessary to provide the feedback so something can be done about it.

Thursday afternoon visit, the surgery did not adjust to be that busy, arrived before my appointment time but still had to wait till after my scheduled time before being seen. Cat was blocked in when I be wanted to leave and I requested for the owner to move their vehicle as I had other engagements scheduled. No sense of urgency amongst the staff it appreciation that my time is as valuable as theirs. Managed to manoeuvre my car out whilst waiting so impact was not as bad as if I had waited for the other to move their vehicle but it was irritating.
