I recently had a rhinoplasty and septum correction procedure with Dr Alwyn D’Souza. I liked his calm and reassuring energy from the first consultation - he didn’t try to show off, he listened to what I said, and he offered his view on what he thought was the best outcome for me based on my facial features and proportions. In the end, he and his team overdelivered. Not only did they offer me a revision surgery at a decreased cost when I had a self inflicted trauma after the original surgery (yes, it was incredibly stupid of me, won’t bore you with details, but post surgery care is extremely important! 😅). But importantly, Dr D’Souza achieved a beautiful straight nose which fits my face perfectly - and importantly, feels very me. Nothing drastically changed, but was only skilfully enhanced. Dr D’Souza is a true artist at what he does, and his attention to detail is just impressive. He is also an incredibly humble and kind person, and a pleasure to work with. So are his team, Karen and Chelsea - true professionals who have been so very helpful during the period leading up to and after the surgery. Highly recommend!

I had been advised against the op by friends and family due to questionable social media reels regarding the potential for things to go wrong and the low level of concern for the individual. I know today that if I had not done it my life would look very bleak in just a couple of years. I had prepared for a general anaesthetic but was happily surprised with the epidural and local injections. I clearly underestimated the intrusion and how much I needed to take regular medication afterwards. I also needed to top up with more medicine after 3 weeks. I’ve am also very grateful for the care and focus on making the scar so neat and the limited damage caused around the knee. I hardly brushed at all. A good physio and movement is key. 6 weeks after the op I can drive a manual and walk with no crutches.

I attended Spencer Ashford Hospital which was easy to find and was able to park nearby in the carpark using a Blue Badge displayed. Access was at ground level with no steps. Reception staff greeted me straight away and booked me in, provided necessary to complete my procedure. Toilets were easily accessed just off Reception and there is a water machine free. All staff including the medical team that I saw were engaging, jovial yet professional. The atmosphere was calm and relaxing with about three patients waiting. Mr Georgios Papadopoulos explained the procedure that I was undergoing in depth and was unrushed and very calm and inquired whether I had questions. His team were as fantastic ensuring that I was at ease throughout. At no point did I feel under pressure to leave after the procedure.

I visited for an US abdominal and internal after NHS scan could not find my ovaries due and I was very anxious to find out if theses were causing my pain. I was fortunately referred by my GP quickly and seen the following day. The experience was totally different to the NHS one. My questions were answered rather than the NHS “you will need to speak with your doctor “ response to every question. The consultant Christina spent time to get the necessary images and did advise further scans to eliminate any issues with bowel/colon. The whole experience was very comfortable and I did not feel like I was being a nuisance by asking questions about my body!! Thank you so much. It was ++ reassuring and did also identify a condition which I may have causing the pain.

I highly recommend Miss Mez Aref-Adib. I’m 39 years old and had a 6 cm fibroid that caused heavy bleeding and severe pain. Dr. Aref-Adib performed my laparoscopic surgery and successfully removed all of the fibroids. She was extremely attentive to my condition after the surgery, followed up closely to make sure everything was going well, and was always available to answer any questions I had during recovery. Three months later, I feel so much better, and there is only a very faint mark left from the stitches on my abdomen. I highly recommend Dr. Aref-Adib—not only because she is highly skilled and professional, but also because she is genuinely kind, caring, and responsive.

I can’t recommend Dr Mistry highly enough. I first met him when I was at my lowest, and his support and treatment plan helped me navigate an incredibly difficult period. He is deeply caring and attentive, which made it easy to build trust and talk through the hardest things. He consistently offers different options, clearly explains the trade-offs, and leaves the final choice with you. I never felt pressured into a single “one-size-fits-all” plan. Although he is very clinical and pragmatic in the best way, every consultation felt like a safe space for any emotion

I feel very fortunate to be receiving care from The Royal Marsden at Sutton. Being treated at a specialist hospital focused solely on cancer is a very different experience from other NHS hospitals.
