Mr Rajeev Parameswaran

Dr. Rajeev Parameswaran is a highly skilled Consultant General and Upper GI Surgeon. He serves as a consultant at the Wirral University Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, where he provides specialised care to patients with biliary (gallstone and pancreas) disease, reflux disease, and abdominal wall hernias. He also sees private patients at Spire Murrayfield Hospital Wirral. Dr. Parameswaran utilises a laparoscopic (keyhole) approach to deliver minimally invasive surgical interventions. He is also accredited in diagnostic and therapeutic gastroscopy.

Dr Parameswaran completed his medical degree at the University of Mumbai, India in 2001 before moving to the UK. Following the completion of his higher specialist training in the South West and London deaneries, Dr. Parameswaran pursued a fellowship in upper GI surgery at two renowned medical centres: the Royal Adelaide Hospital in Australia and St. James Hospital in Leeds. These experiences allowed him to gain valuable expertise and exposure to the latest advancements in his field. He is a member of the Association of Laparoscopic Surgeons of Great Britain and Ireland (ALSGBI) and the European Association of Endoscopic Surgery (EAES), demonstrating his commitment to staying at the forefront of surgical techniques and knowledge.

Dr. Parameswaran has a keen interest in patient-reported outcomes, and he completed a higher degree from the University of Bristol focusing on this area. He actively engages in research and has authored book chapters and papers in peer-reviewed journals, further contributing to the advancement of surgical knowledge and patient care.

Alongside his clinical practice, Dr. Parameswaran maintains a strong commitment to teaching and training. He is an accredited trainer for several courses run by the Royal College of Surgeons, including the highly regarded Non-Operative Technical Skills for Surgeons (NOTSS) course. Through his dedication to education, he imparts his expertise and skills to aspiring surgeons, fostering excellence and ensuring the delivery of high-quality surgical care in the future.
