About Mr Ashish Rohatgi
Mr Rohatgi is a general surgeon specialising in upper gastrointestinal benign and cancer surgery, biliary pathology, and gastroesophageal reflux disease. He received his specialised training at two prominent oesophagogastric cancer centres in the South East of England.
He has been working as a consultant for the NHS for the last 17 years, splitting his time between two sites. He is one of six oesophago-gastric surgeons at University College Hospital, a cancer treatment centre of excellence. He is involved in resections and postoperative treatment of all forms of oesophageal and gastric cancer at the hospital. As a tertiary referral, it is responsible for the acute care of all upper gastrointestinal emergencies in North and East London.
Mr Rohatgi is currently the senior upper gastrointestinal surgeon at Whipps Cross Hospital, a large district general hospital in northeast London. He performs all types of benign and complex upper gastrointestinal and biliary operations, primarily robotically.
In addition, as a robotic, laparoscopic and general surgeon, he is regularly involved in the handling of general surgical emergencies. He is passionate about clinical research and has over 25 publications and has delivered multiple international and national presentations.
