On arrival I waited in the reception area and there were already 3 other patients waiting for admission. The escort took the first one up and followed with the second and third. On his arrival back in reception he then disappeared through a side door. I thought he probably needed the bathroom but by the time it was 7.35 (and I had been waiting since 7am) I asked reception when I was going to be shown to my room. At which point he phoned the escort who then reappeared. When the nurse came to talk me through everything on admission I had to ask about the emergency call button. She had completely forgotten it and left it on the wall. When I came to put on my theatre gown one of the ties was missing at the neck I was told to just hold it Surely a hospital I am paying so much for can afford another gown?? I gave her my medication and she pushed it into the bedside cabinet and nothing further was done with it until I asked later in the day. I was amazed that the omezrapole had been missed off my medication list. I had to ask for it despite me going through all my medication at both pre- assessment (where I was told it was very important to take) and admission so it was all on the computer. Then, as they hadn’t been given my medication earlier in the day, the pregabalin had not been written up in time and was prescribed to start the following day (also see above about computer listings) I had to insist that I needed it that night. I was never asked if I wanted help to wash or shower so had nothing during my 2.5 days on the ward. And as I was tethered to the bed with a catheter I could not get to the bathroom on my own. Catering - staff were very pleasant but the menu seemed to be very rice based. Also it would have been nice to have a couple of tea/coffee rounds during the day instead of having to bother the nurses by pressing the emergency button to ask for a drink. I kept complaining how dry I was and had difficulty to even talk but I was never offered a saline drip. It took 3 days plus for this to wear off by drinking lots of water which in turn caused a lot of acid reflux from my hiatus hernia - something that has been ongoing since my discharge. The dry mouth also made it very difficult to swallow medication. Physios were very pleasant girls who walked me round the ward and gave me a leaflet about exercises but didn’t actually make me do even the simplest of them. On discharge I was fitted with a catheter. My discharge notes told me to go to a GP in 7 days for removal. Apparently GPs do not provide this service and when I phoned the ward for help the nurse was horrified that I had been given those instructions and that an appointment had not been arranged for me to go back to the Harborne. I am attending tomorrow so I will be interested to see if this all takes place. Overall this is the fourth private hospital I have been in and although the surroundings are probably the best I felt the 'in house' service was probably the worst. This is with the exception of the consultant, theatre staff and Claire (one of the night time nurses)

Everyone was at all times friendly and quietly efficient. I was assessed via up to five impressive machines on the working day following my initial approach to the clinic. I had to approach the Clinic following the retirement of the consultant whom I had originally engaged, and who had agreed with my optician that I was ready for surgery. The initial examination at the Clinic was most impressive, and when Mr Chan met me shortly thereafter he was clearly able to make a quick assessment. He explained to me that the operation would be challenging, given the damaged condition of my eye, but he agreed with my decision to ask him to proceed. The pamphlets provided enabled me to have a good understanding of the nature of a cataract and the usual course of treatment before and after the operation. On the day of the procedure I approached without misgivings, and following a full discussion with a senior nurse who sought fuller details of my medical history, and then the application of anaesthetics by the anaesthetist, I proceeded to the operating theatre. It was good and very reassuring to be able to feel the area round my eye go numb in advance of entering the theatre. The operation was for me comfortable, and I enjoyed the soft verbal exchanges between Mr Chan and his staff, and the gentle and futuristic sounds of the surgical equipment. Afterwards, I have felt no discomfort from the after effects, and the post operation advice from another nurse has been very clear and helpful. And I am delighted with the outcome. After having been in effect virtually blind in my right eye, my vision is now clear, bright and colourful. Very much better that these current aspects of by “good” left eye! Well done everyone! My doctors are always amazing and when ive had a serious procedure they have been excellent. Only minor thing id say is once the doctor hands over to the team of nurses etc it felt as though they werent sure what to do with me. I was sent for bloods then asked to go to the main hospital then told to go to ground floor then someone else was able to sort out my appointments. When I couldve resolved a few things on the day I went, it ended up having to make appointments for everything. I was given a urine sample kit to take with me. I kinda wish my bloods and urine would have all been completed on the day as they have the facility and there was time as I sat on the chair for a few minutes before they apologised and told me id have to go to the main hospital. I think when its one thing to do, its pretty straight forward but when theres a few things to book in I was handed from one nurse to another to anothert and in the end I left having to change my appointments. They are all lovely but feels as though they are missing some direction and considering that the patient may already be a bit anxious about the visit. Otherwise its always a good experience

Hi My time with glenda was superb , since the start of my sessions i was greeted with great compassion. Glenda has a great ability to dig up issues that made me feel i was in the right place. When i was diagnosed with depression ,anxiety ,ptsd and finally adhd glenda started with my adhd issues first which we worked together to finally understand my feelings and also understand who i was . Glenda has really helped me with talking about my depression in a big way as i thought it was just normal to feel sucidal all the time and thinking real bad things in my mind. I have always known there was something not quite right since when i was young but again i thought it was normal but glenda taught me to understand that things i did and have done over the years were not so normal . I felt i was in good hands with glenda and like to thanks her again for helping me at such a bad time in my life , and if anyone else in this world needs that help glenda is there to help. I am now in a better place

From the first moment I met Professor Ford I knew I was in great hands. He is so friendly and approachable. He immediately put me at ease. He explained what he would do for me in easy to understand language and I couldn’t wait for my incisional hernia repair. I didn’t have to wait long. I had my pre-op the following week and my operation at The Priory the week after that. The operation went amazingly well and all the staff were excellent and friendly too. I saw professor Ford again last night to have my surgical drain removed and find out what happens next. As it transpires my operation presented challenges that he rather enjoyed solving to my benefit. I feel great just one week since my operation. He has cautioned me to take care until 6 weeks has passed. I promised him I will.

The whole process from consultation to operation was excellent. I was well informed about the procedure and felt at ease on the day of my operation due to knowledgable caring staff. At all stages communication was superb. The procedure was very successful and has totally improved my quality of life allowing me to enjoy many things including 2 of my passions reading and sewing with my improved sight. During the operation I was constantly reassured and spoken to about what was happening and where to look. I really liked this and felt included in my treatment. Aftercare was also explained thoroughly.

Both occasions on visiting the practice have been fantastic. Having a fear of the dentist isn’t great, but the reassurance from the staff is absolutely second to none. Talking through the steps to give you an indication of what’s going on etc. checking in constantly to make sure everything is ok with the procedure taking place! The staff are professional and very friendly, the practice is probably one of the best I’ve ever visited. It doesn’t have a normal sterile dentist feel to it! Again a great experience for someone who isn’t particularly keen on visiting the dentist.

I have been privileged to have had the expertise of the wonderful Professor Bernard Prendergast on several occasions over a span of around 15 years now. As always the care is outstanding. He effortlessly puts you at ease and kindly explains everything clearly and professionally. What might seem completely impossible, in his hands is entirely possible. He's proved that in my case. He's exceptional! I'd also like to say thank you for the care and efficiency of all the staff.

Visited morning of 26.01, had to wait a few minutes before being let into the building as arrived just before 9am. Although i was fully aware and ready to wait, everyone passing by including reception staff were kind and apologetic. Getting in, staff (reception, radiographer, doctor) were prompt, thorough, straightforward and quick. No time to scroll through phone as i moved from one stage to the next with ease. Highly recommend.
