Dr Avanish Tantry is a Consultant Paediatrician at Leeds Children's Hospital, which is one of the largest and busiest children's hospitals in the UK, seeing in excess of 50,000 children per year. He is also the current Clinical lead for the general paediatric department. He has over 22 years of experience in the field of general paediatrics and looks after children with a large variety of problems and illnesses.
Dr Tantry obtained his primary medical qualification in India and went on to complete post graduate studies in paediatrics at one of the busiest children's hospitals in India. After finishing his studies in India, Dr Tantry continued his training in the UK and has worked in some of the busiest children's hospitals in the country, including Birmingham and Leeds. His qualifications are MBBS, MD paediatrics, FRCPCH and MSc in child health. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Paediatricians.
He has been working as a Consultant in Leeds since 2013 and has developed extensive skills and experience in managing a wide variety of childhood illnesses including recurrent wheeze, asthma, abdominal pains, constipation/diarrhoea, headaches, reflux, cow's milk intolerance/allergy, heart murmurs, chest problems, growth issues and newborn problems. He has a special interest in secondary paediatric nephrology which is a paediatric sub-speciality dealing with common kidney problems in children e.g. recurrent urine infections, nephrotic syndrome, urinary frequency/urgency, etc.

Dr. Tantry seemed very thorough. He listened to everything we had to say and explained his thoughts clearly.

We were made to feel comfortable and valued during our visit and every effort was made to gain a full understanding of our daughter’s needs. Everything was explained clearly and all our questions were answered, we had clear next steps to move forward by the end of our appointment and a detailed report was completed in a very timely manner to support those next steps.

Dr Tantry was fantastic and spoke to my son like he was a person, not like a child which my son really responded well to and enabled him to open up about his symptoms. Dr Tantry provided an excellent explanation for my sons symptoms and he put us both at ease. Would highly recommend.

Dr Tantry was very pleasant and thorough in discussing my child’s issue. He ordered the appropriate tests which were performed straight after the appointment and he provided a thorough explanation of the plan of care. We will definitely use him again if required.
