About Dr Donald Hodge
Dr Hodge is a Consultant in Paediatric Allergy and General Paediatrics and leads a very busy NHS practice in Leeds which provides all the paediatric allergy secondary care for Leeds and additionally provides a tertiary allergy service for Yorkshire.
Dr Hodge personally sees thousands of patients with allergic disease a year which provides him with a wealth of experience in the presentation of and treatment for food allergies (common foods including dairy, egg, fish, wheat) allergic rhinoconjunctivitis (hayfever – grass pollen, tree pollen, house dust mite), eczema, asthma and idiopathic urticaria (chronic hives).
- Dr Hodge also has a depth of knowledge in many common paediatric medical problems due to the large number of young patients he sees each year. These include gastroesophageal reflux, constipation, weight issues, heart murmurs, recurrent infections, lymphadenopathy, abdominal pain, diarrhoea, colic and urinary tract infections.
Dr. Hodge offers a very detailed initial consultation that attempts to take into consideration all environmental factors that are relevant to diagnosis. Beyond allergy testing this involves looking at the patient's diet, family history and other genetic factors, plus a review of other atopic comorbidity. Treatments plans are shared with parents, schools and other caretakers and include a detailed document outlining the emergency medical management in the event of future accidental allergic reactions.
Dr Hodge is also able to offer immunotherapy treatment if required.
