Dr Duncan Birth

I cannot recommend Dr Duncan highly enough. He looked after me throughout my pregnancy and ultimately delivered our daughter by planned C-section, and we could not have asked for better care from beginning to end. Throughout my pregnancy, Dr Duncan was incredibly reassuring, thorough and kind. He always took the time to explain everything clearly, answer all of our questions and make sure we felt completely comfortable with each decision. Nothing ever felt rushed, and I always came away from appointments feeling reassured and very well looked after. When it came to the delivery, the whole experience was exactly what I had hoped for. Dr Duncan made me feel completely at ease going into my C-section, and his calm and confident manner made what could have been an anxious experience feel incredibly positive. The procedure itself went smoothly, and the care I received before, during and afterwards was exceptional. It meant so much to have the same consultant who had cared for me throughout my pregnancy there to safely deliver our daughter. Her birth was such a special experience for both my husband and me, and Dr Duncan played a huge part in making it so. I am enormously grateful to him for the care, reassurance and support he gave us throughout the entire pregnancy and delivery. I would recommend Dr Duncan without hesitation to anyone looking for an obstetrician — we genuinely could not have been in better hands.

Seven years after having my first child, I was having my second baby, and I feel incredibly fortunate that I chose Dr Duncan for my C-section. From pregnancy through to delivery, he made me feel completely reassured and well cared for. Dr Duncan and his whole team were professional, patient, warm and incredibly supportive. The C-section went extremely smoothly, with very little blood loss, and my recovery was much faster than I had expected. My incision was beautifully done, and I was already up and walking almost normally just a few days after surgery. I couldn’t have wished for a better doctor or a better experience.

I saw Dr Duncan privately for my second pregnancy and C-section after having had a difficult experience previously within the NHS, and I’m incredibly grateful that I did. I felt genuinely listened to, reassured and very well cared for throughout the whole pregnancy. A few things particularly stood out. Firstly, Dr Duncan was really flexible about his package given that I was combining NHS and private care, which helped me keep the overall costs at a more manageable level without feeling that I was compromising on the care I received. Secondly, I hugely appreciated that he scanned me at every appointment. After a difficult previous experience, being able to see that everything was progressing well each time was enormously reassuring. It also made the whole experience feel very joined-up, rather than having to arrange scans separately with different providers. His wider team are also exceptional. Colette in his office is absolutely brilliant — incredibly efficient, responsive and helpful throughout. Darrell, his anaesthetist, was also extraordinarily kind and reassuring on the day of my C-section, which was exactly what I needed going into surgery. Finally, the C-section itself could not have gone more smoothly. My recovery so far has been remarkably straightforward and my scar is already looking really good. I came away feeling that I had been in extremely capable hands technically as well as being treated with real kindness. I’m not planning on having another baby, but if I were, I would have absolutely no hesitation in going back to Dr Duncan. I’m very thankful to him...

I had the most amazing experience here throughout my pregnancy and the birth. I look back at the day I went in to have my baby and the whole experience m, it was just amazing, I want to re live that day over and over again. When I went in for my 6-8 week postnatal check up I felt a little sad that it was all over. I will be back for my second baby absolutely no doubt.

Dr Duncan is the best of the best when it comes to obstetric care. His expertise, coupled with his calm and reassuring approach, gave me an enormous amount of confidence, particularly when I experienced complications during the second half of my pregnancy. I particularly appreciated that Dr Duncan personally carried out all of my scans and was so easily contactable with any questions or concerns between appointments, which I know is not the case with all obstetric consultants. Being able to text or call him at any time of the day or night and receive immediate, clear and considered advice and reassurance was invaluable. It helped put me at ease during what were, at times, quite stressful periods of my pregnancy. Dr Duncan also went to great lengths to put together a delivery plan that was highly tailored to my medical needs. As a result, when the day of my caesarean section arrived, I felt completely reassured that I was in the safest possible hands with him and the team at The Portland. The procedure itself was carried out with the highest level of skill and care, and my recovery has been much swifter than I had anticipated. I cannot recommend Dr Duncan highly enough. I will genuinely miss having regular appointments with him, but very much hope to return for baby number two in the future! He is not only an exceptional obstetrician, but also a genuinely kind and caring person who is clearly invested in his patients and wants to ensure they have the best possible pregnancy and birth experience.

Dr Duncan was an exceptional consultant throughout the pregnancy and beyond. He is a kind and caring consultant and always easily contactable. Col his Secretary was also outstanding dealing with all the administration. We had a relatively complex pregnancy and throughout it Dr Duncan offered great advice and kept us calm throughout the process clearly demonstrating his incredible expertise and experience. There are no words that can truly express our gratitude to Dr. Duncan. From the very beginning of my pregnancy, he provided exceptional care, combining outstanding medical expertise with genuine kindness and compassion. Throughout a very high-risk pregnancy, he was always available, incredibly reassuring, and remarkably responsive whenever we needed him. When my placenta praevia suddenly started bleeding at 6 a.m., Dr. Duncan reacted immediately. His rapid assessment, calm leadership, and excellent clinical judgment led to the life-saving decision to deliver our baby without delay. My Caesarean section was performed with extraordinary precision, and my recovery exceeded all expectations. The scar is remarkably neat, the healing has been outstanding, and I could not have hoped for a better outcome. It is a testament to his remarkable surgical expertise. Beyond his incredible medical abilities, Dr. Duncan truly cares about his patients. He listens carefully, explains everything clearly, and makes you feel safe even in the most frightening moments.
