I had a consultant review with Dr Shaikh for the re-initiation and titration of medication for a pre-existing ADHD diagnosis. I chose Mentis Clinic as it was the most affordable option I found during my research, particularly considering that their service includes consultant review, medication titration appointments, prescriptions, and a shared care agreement. My previous notes were reviewed promptly, and I was offered an initial consultant appointment within a week, followed by a titration appointment the following week. Dr Shaikh was very attentive and took the time to understand my circumstances and reasons for seeking re-initiation and titration of medication. There was no waiting list, which meant I was seen extremely quickly. The pharmacy also handled my prescription efficiently, with medication delivered in a timely manner. After the initial consultant review, I received my clinic letter very quickly and was given the opportunity to request amendments, which were dealt with promptly. I was provided with comprehensive information about medication options and was also given a letter of support for education and employment without even having to request one, which was something I genuinely needed. I am extremely satisfied with the service I have received from Mentis Clinic and would highly recommend them to anyone seeking assessment or ongoing care for ADHD.

Practice Plus Group Hospital, Barlborough

I had knee replacement surgery at the Practice Plus hospital at Barlborough on 29th November. The pain I experienced during the two weeks following the surgery on a scale of 1 to 10 I would rate at 8 to 9. Now that I am in my eight week of recovery my pain level is 1 or2 I had a problem in that during the first 2 weeks after surgery I was hardly able to sleep due to the pain when lying down and some nights I had zero hours of sleep. After discussion with the hospital pharmacist it became evident that one of the pain killing medicines I had been prescribed had insomnia as one of it’s side effects. After stopping this medication and taking an alternative my sleep pattern returned to normal and my recovery accelerated. From the experiences of friends who had undergone this surgery I knew that physiotherapy was the key to a successful outcome. The physiotherapy I received at Barlborough was exceptional. By following their exercise plans and receiving guidance at my follow-up visits I am now able walk for one hour virtually pain free, ride my static bike at home and if all goes well should be able to ride my bike on the road in a few weeks time. I recently completed a course of CBT sessions with Dr Sharon Pettit, focusing on managing my anxiety, worry, and rumination. When I first began, I struggled significantly with social interactions, often feeling socially awkward and fixating on past conversations. My mind would race with worries about things entirely beyond my control, pushing my anxiety levels to an all-time high. It felt like I was in a constant state of fight or flight, from the moment I woke up until I went to bed, leaving me completely drained. Now, almost six months later, I've gained valuable tools to help manage my thoughts and emotions. While I wouldn’t say I’m completely cured, I feel about 75% better and am now enjoying a much happier life. I've decided to take a break from CBT for the time being, but I'm committed to returning if I notice my anxiety levels rising again.

The team at One Stop Healthcare in Hemel Hempstead were very friendly and welcoming from the moment I arrived. I had a clean, tidy private room, which made the experience much more comfortable. The two ladies who handled my general anaesthetic were excellent and really helped put me at ease as I was quite nervous. Post surgery, the physio who showed me how to use my crutches and explained my recovery was lovely. My only criticism was the inconsistency around my sick note - my surgeon signed me off for 6 weeks, but a nurse was unhelpful and stated they only do 4 weeks and that I would need to see my GP to extend it! This felt unnecessary given this was my agreed recovery time. My surgeon did step in to resolve this. I did appreciate the follow up call a week after surgery to check how I was doing, which was a nice touch overall.

Having been to several medical professionals in my life, I can honestly say the care provided by Dr Katie Cowie is exceptional. She has a great bedside manner, there is no judgement and she is, very knowledgable and understanding. Personably speaking, I would now always consult her on my journey through peri-menopause and beyond. She is well worth the cost for such excellent one to one care. I also see her for weight loss and again, for anyone contemplating medical assisted weight loss, I would always recommend going through someone like Dr Cowie. The assistance she provides with her vast knowledge on the subject is invaluable. I’m so grateful to have met her. and I recommend her to everyone I know going through any women’s health issues.

I was very impressed by the clarity, structure and details of the summary of my first appointment. It was the most professional summary of a medical meeting that I have read in any hospital. What particularly impressed me was that it set out precisely how this first session had been designed to "break me in" by conducting it in a chair instead of more formally lying down and with fewer needles than subsequently. Mr Brown cleverly interspersed medical questions with some remarks about Somerset. This limited distraction was vital to me as I am chronically needle phobic. In this way, by partly taking my mind off what might have been an ordeal, Mr Brown ensured that I underwent no strains, mental or physical, from the treatment.

My son had a surgical extraction and the procedure was very calm and relaxed for him. I was able to be there too, so I watched the whole procedure and was very impressed at how clean the procedure was, resulting in a positive experience and successful extraction, ahead of upcoming orthodontic work. Waiting times weren't too long, although for private treatment we had hoped to be seen a little sooner than we were.
