As I am now almost three months post full hip replacement surgery, so I wanted to write and thank Mr Nicholas Cooke and the Nuffield for an extremely successful outcome, and for making the experience much more comfortable and far less frightening than I had feared. The theatre team and anaesthetist (Mr Pollard, I think) were so kind and gentle - I was really afraid of the entire epidural process, but was very reassured by the nurses on this team. One of the nurses actually stroked my hand as the epidural was being administered, and I cannot tell you how comforting such a small gesture was. There was no great fuss, everything was calm, everyone was concerned for my wellbeing, I was comfortable and warm and before I knew it - it was all over and to my great surprise, I was back in my room. I could not be happier with the surgery itself, and am beyond delighted with the outcome. Mr Cooke is clearly a magician (!), as well as being very kind and professional - I would not hesitate to recommend him to others. The pain I felt afterwards was nothing like I had anticipated, and was such that only paracetemol was needed - no nasty codeine - and I was able to discard my walking stick after only two weeks. I am still feeling stronger and better each day, walking further and achieving more, the surgery was life changing for me. Furthermore, I can't believe how small the scar is after such a major operation. I would also like to say a special thank you to my physiotherpaist, Jason Rohun, who has advised and supported me along the way, especially when I was a little confused over slightly mixed messaging or perhaps my misunderstanding, at one stage in my recovery - I had read much online about the relatively new approach (no need for raised toilet seats, not such strict adherence to the 90 degree rule etc etc), and also this was the information I was given on the day of, and the day after my operation. I was therefore rather taken aback at my first check-up consultation when the advice seemed to contradict this. I felt really disappointed and disheartened that perhaps I wouldn't get back to normal activities competely, but after a scheduled telephone appointment with Jason, his calm, reassuring explanation of what was and wasn't possible at that stage of my recovery calmed me down, and helped me back on track. His advice was much appreciated. The Nuffield York is also extremely clean - and feels very safe and hygienic, which is very important for patient confidence (especially mine). In sum, enormous thanks to Mr Cooke, to Jason, to the anesthetic and surgical teams and to the Nuffield, for making the whole experience as successful (sorry, I can't say enjoyable, that would be weird) as it has been. I hope I don't ever need the other hip replacing, but if I do, I know where I'll be coming.

Mr Lamb’s commitment to his patients truly shines through, and I am actually looking forward to the procedure, confident that I will soon be free from ongoing pain and discomfort. I would also like to highlight the incredible support from his secretary, Wendy McGill. The level of care and attention I have received from both Mr. Lamb and Wendy has been outstanding—they genuinely have their patients’ best interests at heart and continually go above and beyond to provide a smooth and supportive experience. In summary, I have complete trust in Mr. Lamb and his talented medical team. Got up extra early as had a 9am appointment and was advised to get there early to fill in form etc and was unsure about whether parking could be an issue. The staff asked who I was waiting for etc and the Dr hadn't arrived. I had arrived for a Urology appointment with a full bladder for any tests needed. The staff organised this so I was more comfortable!!They said they would contact her.It turns out that she thought her clinic started at 10am not 9.The staff were very apologetic and offered me a cup of tea whilst waiting and checked if I was happy to wait.As I was there it was best to wait but frustrating nonetheless. I finally got seen around 10.10am.The Dr was lovely and very helpful. Couldn't fault the building or staff only the wait.

Dr. Watson was recommended to me by my GP, who had previously received excellent feedback from her patients. He is professional with a friendly mannerand I had complete confidence in him to carry out my procedure. He explained my procedure in a way that I could clearly understand it. He listened to my concerns about being awake during the procedure and offered sedation as a solution. This put my mind at rest. He also suggested that I took a probiotic tablet that some of his previous patients had benefited from. Since taking the tablet I also have benefited from it. The overall service and care I have received from Dr Watson and his team has been excellent and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them to others.

I recently developed a constant heart palpitation due to iron overload. Dr Adhya is very kind, calm, helpful and extremely knowledgeable. He examined me thoroughly on my first visit and explained all my concerns with answers that put my mind at easy. He is very easy to talk to and I feel completely confident to consult him. I must also thank Dr Adhya’s secretary Deanna, she is amazing, she is one of the most efficient secretaries I have seen. Dr Adhya arranged me to have an ECG and ultrasound scan tests, Deanna ordered both tests immediately, and she replied all my emails within minutes. I would 100% recommend him to anyone. Seamless; from the pre-op, the payment process, the admission for surgery, physio visit, discharge and follow-up. The day case private room was very clean and comfortable and the food was good. All staff were kind and helpful, both on the phone, in the ward and in the theatre. I always knew how to contact someone if I had questions.
