Mr Mfazo Hove
Ophthalmology
London
I had a bilateral phacoemulsification with trifocal lenses done by Mr Hove in April 2022. My first consultation with Mr Hove was incredible. He explains everything before you agree to treatment including a video of how the operation is done and how to cope afterwards. You will experience halos at night but this is something you get used to. On the day of the operation the staff were very helpful and friendly and explained what was going to happen. First you are given several lots of drops in both eyes which anaesthetise the eyes ready for surgery. Next into the room where Mr Hove explains all the procedure and it was finished in about half an hour. Amazing. You then have to wear plastic shields over each eye until the morning. Then you have to wear them overnight for seven days. Not a problem. You also have to put drops in your eyes four times a day for five weeks. The following day I could read well even the small print and didn’t need contact lens or glasses. Mr Hove rang me in the evening to ask how everything was and had I any questions. He is happy for you to contact him if you need any help. I went back to see him after five weeks and had the usual eye tests and then he told me everything was really good but I could contact him anytime if I had problems. He is one of the best consultants ever and also has a good sense of humour which helps you relax. I would recommend him to anyone.

Mr Tariq Ayoub
Ophthalmology
London
I had superb life changing experience at Oculase for an ICL (Implantable Collamer Lens) surgery. Dr. Tariq Ayoub is a wonderful surgeon, and the staff was always helpful and kind. They ensured I had a smooth prep, surgery, and plenty of follow-up checks. I am so glad I chose Oculase and would highly recommend to anyone considering corrective eye surgery. TL:DR - if you’d like to learn more about my journey, read on …. I had been wearing glasses from the age of 5, maybe earlier, perhaps I was too young to remember for certain. I have very high myopia (approx -9 to -10 diopters) with astigmatism added to the mix. Thus, Laser surgery was never in the cards for me. I had gotten used to a life wearing thick glasses which meant minimising contact sports, foggy vision in winter due to glass condensation and many other things such as swimming wasn’t very enjoyable. I had tried contact lenses for a while but they were a pain as eyes got dry and the headache of remembering to take them off for bed time. When I spoke with Tariq about my issues and wanting a glasses free solution, I was intrigued and somewhat skeptical to hear about ICL surgery, so decided to explore it. I had a several consultations at Oculase where detailed checks were done on my eyes in order to determine the best possible solution. I had lengthy discussions with Tariq where he explained why ICL was the best option, backed by data from the scans and insights from experts. Of course, there were risks as well which I felt Tariq did best to put me at ease. His availability night and day over a quick call or response to messages was super helpful in this process. The operation itself was expertly handed by Tariq and the team. I was fairly relaxed thanks to the pre op discussion by the friendly staff at the clinic (and calming music helped!). The procedure was quick, painless and almost immediately after I was able to see better than I did with glasses. There were of course some artefacts in my vision (flashes, halos) which took a few weeks to go away as the eyes healed from surgery. Post operative care was explained to me thoroughly by the clinical team and Tariq was always at hand to address any concerns as my eyes healed over the weeks. Within a week my vision had become better than ever, perfect 20/20 and with most of the meticulous post op aftercare out of the way, I began to take notice of improvements in lifestyle. No more blurry showers or swimming, no fumbling for glasses first thing in morning or during night waking, not having to repeatedly clean glasses thorough out the day, improved peripheral vision, no lenses, no glasses anxiety when exercising, playing sports or going out for a run, the list goes on. I will most certainly add to the list of improvements as more things being apparent, that I had just gotten “used to” while wearing glasses. In closing, my only regret is not knowing of this earlier in life! Thank you Tariq and Oculase for taking me through this life changing experience.

I was well looked after by my surgeon and the procedure wasn't as bad as I was expecting. I would recommend my surgeon. My surgeon was very friendly and explained very well as she went on. I wouldn't be scared to have the other eye done.
