On admission to Sunderland Royal Hospital in February 2025 I was placed in the care of Mr. Dowen. I was in very severe pain in my right leg after a fall at home in November 2024. Despite earlier hospitalisation I had had 16 weeks without any alleviation of the pain. The care I received from Mr Dowen and his whole team was second to none. I couldn’t have been in better hands. Within a very few days Mr Dowen carried out a very complex operation which was followed by 48 hours in Intensive Care and I was soon totally without pain. The bedside manners of Mr Dowen and his team were excellent. All procedures were explained to me before they were carried out. Although they were all busy people they made me feel that they had all the time in the world for me. The aftercare I received on discharge was just as good with several outpatient visits arranged, mainly with Mr Dowen himself, so that he could keep tabs on my progress. I honestly don’t think I could have had any better care and will always be very grateful for the treatment I received.

After many months of difficulties as a result of the sudden loss of my husband, I can finally see a light at the end of the tunnel. Communication with Kernow Psychiatry beforehand was very responsive and I booked an initial appointment to discuss my mental health difficulties. Dr Reid welcomed me into a comfortable room at the wellness hub, she immediately put me at ease made sure I was settled and ready to begin. After one hour, Dr Reid summarised what she saw as the key priorities to getting me back on an even keel, suggesting a clear approach to addressing my intersecting issues. I felt I was in good hands and I'm now looking forward to my follow up appointment to start my treatment plan towards recovery. I only wish I’d followed my instincts sooner and booked in months ago.

It’s underneath my chin, lopsided, on top of any tissue, not even near my chin bone, and they refute 2nd opinions I’ve had that there’s anything wrong with this. They also promised me a referral for a CT scan for months but keep deferring. So I’ve had to arrange these scans myself to get proof needed. Made a formal complaint and didn’t even get a written response. Independent adjudication (ISCAS) next then Small Claims. They will not take responsibility for negligence/errors so beware! Please pass on so people are aware - as this needs to be made public

My son had a surgical extraction and the procedure was very calm and relaxed for him. I was able to be there too, so I watched the whole procedure and was very impressed at how clean the procedure was, resulting in a positive experience and successful extraction, ahead of upcoming orthodontic work. Waiting times weren't too long, although for private treatment we had hoped to be seen a little sooner than we were. The practice staff were friendly and very welcoming and high standards were evident throughout, in terms of hygiene and care. My son has no pain and is recovering well.

My son needed to have two teeth extracted prior to being fitted with braces the following month. The dentist was extremely caring - especially as the procedure proved to be quite difficult due to the large roots of the teeth being pulled. It took an hour for the first tooth to finally come out - and the dentist recommended that a second appointment be made to minimise the amount of trauma caused extracting both teeth in one go. The appointment was made while the procedure was still ongoing - which was very efficient and was a relief for my son.

Mr Foster came to see me, reassuring me everything will be fine as I was a little nervous.. Walking into theatre, to good morning's ,& hello From theatre staff,felt reassuring...needless to say everything went well with procedure, after being checked over from nurse & Dr Foster, I wrnt on my merry way.....job well done .

Extremely happy with the service, care and everyone's attentiveness at the Cleveland Clinic. My initial consultation was with Dr Chetan Bhan. He was patient, friendly and made an effort to understand the symptoms I have been experiencing for some time. He quickly assigned my case to Dr Mark Samaan and appointments allocated swiftly too. I came away feeling reassured by that the Cleveland Clinic would be able to help. Also, the clinic is well kept, clean and comfortable. That is a massive plus too!

All staff, including the receptionist, were very nice and helpful. The hospital waiting areas and the consulting room were very clean and well maintained. There were unlimited free hot drinks and water available for waiting patients. Whilst the hospital does not have a car park, there was plenty of on-street parking available (charges varying up to £6.50 for 4 hours - enforced until 8pm), even on a busy Friday traffic wise after 4pm, when I arrived.

Mr Saravelos and his team made us feel at such ease for our Frozen Embryo Transfer. He was so patient and helped talk through the procedure in a way I could understand. He kept me calm through the procedure, which previously have been a really painful experience for him. The Nurse Raj was also great and helpful and managed to get all our prescriptions done before the transfer so we didn’t have to wait around. Really great time and brilliant experience.

The operation went smoothly and I was well informed. So far I've had two follow up visits and its been very comforting and reassuring that all is on track. I wanted to have a consultation quickly because the hospital needed advice to help with a second go at an endoscopy - the first could not be done because I had an episode of AF. I was seen in a couple of days and got advice on medication which made me much more confident for the second (successful) hospital visit.
