Newmedica Leeds. 5* Care from start to finish. My optician at Specsavers suggested it was time to consider cataract surgery and I was offered an NHS referral to my choice of providers. I chose Newmedica Leeds and just over 2-3 weeks later had an initial consultation at Newmedica. Unfortunately my high blood pressure caused some problems and delayed the first cataract operation to my left eye, after 4-5 weeks weeks I had surgery on my first eye and 5-6 weeks later my second eye was done. Without exception all of the staff I met at Newmedica were friendly, helpful, and very caring. The consultant who carried out the procedure on both eyes (Mr. Kamran Khan) took the time to explain the procedure and answer my questions. During the procedures he was reassuring and calmly explained what was happening. Both procedures were carried out successfully and my sight is so much better now. I would like to give a big thank you to Mr Kamran Khan and his team and my Optometrist Summer Elyoussfi and her team for all the care and attention I received. I have no hesitation in recommending Newmedica Leeds.

Overall experience was poor. After initial consultation I had little or no contact with the hospital, any contact was initiated by myself. Clear lack of communication between departments. I had already paid for my procedure and waiting for a surgery slot. Surgery was scheduled for a Wednesday but received a call the Friday before basically saying if I didnt drive up that day and do a blood test, the operation couldn't go ahead. Luckily I was in a position where I could do that but imagine if I had kids, couldn't get out of work, had no car/transport. The list goes on. The actual surgery seems to have gone well. (1 week post op). But.... the whole experience was pretty poor, no, very poor. I'd have been upset if this was the NHS but this was a privately paid procedure and if it wasn't for the fact that I had already booked time off work, staff cover, kennels for my Cane Corso's (which wasn't cheap) I genuinely would have asked for my money back and gone somewhere else.

During my first visit, I felt uncomfortable with some of the comments made. A remark was made suggesting I had “gone posh” because of where I now live, which felt inappropriate and unrelated to my care. I was also advised to book a scan “at my own convenience” with enough time to “get a wax,” which did not feel professional or relevant to the medical appointment. At my second visit, I was informed that my blood results showed no signs of menopause, although a low thyroid result may mean I need medication next year. However, I did not receive a clear explanation as to what may currently be causing my symptoms. Remains of a virus I suffered from late year or it was suggested that eating processed or ready-made food could be responsible for my aching joints and muscles. This felt like an assumption rather than a discussion based on my individual circumstances, and I left without a proper understanding of what might be happening or what steps I should take next.

I am sure it is only natural to be very protective towards one's eyes and, from the moment of the first 'drops' being inserted in my right eye, I was extremely nervous and was dreading every moment. I was conscious throughout the whole operation on my right eye and it was not until it was all over that I realised I had not experienced any discomfort (let alone pain) from the moment the eye drops were first administered, to when the operation was all over. I am so grateful for the exceptional care and attention I received and, when it is time to operate on my left eye, I will enter the anesthetic room with the tried & tested knowledge that there is nothing for me to fear as I will not experience any discomfort whatsoever. I am extremely fortunate to have undergone an eye operation, performed by a team of such capable, dedicated and knowledgeable experts who safeguarded me from any discomfort.

Our 13-year-old son was treated by Professor Iain Bruce at Spire Manchester Hospital following a nasal fracture requiring manipulation under anaesthetic. Apart from a reception that were unaware of their visitors - the building and facilities were excellent. Dr. Bradley is a practitioner who has a broad grasp of all areas of HRT treatment. Her extensive knowledge makes you feel very confident about the decisions you make with the doctors assistance. She is never rushed and allows extensive discussion about past and present research. I am extremely impressed by her professionalism. I left after my consultation feeling I had explored all the areas I had questions about but came away with a lot of new information.

Spire Manchester Hospital is exceptional in every sense. The nursing staff who cared for our son were outstanding and made the entire experience feel calm and reassuring rather than clinical. The staff at the hospital were all very friendly, helpful and efficient. They understood the importance of admission for surgery to the patient and were very supportive. All of the clinical and medical staff were first class, but the support staff were also excellent. The room was clean and comfortable and I was well looked after. The menu options were very good and the food was delicious. I have no hesitation in strongly recommending this excellent hospital.
