I was scheduled for a laparoscopic bilateral cystectomy. My disappointment stems from a critical failure in communication immediately prior to surgery.Minutes before the procedure, and while already prepped, I was informed by an unfamiliar doctor—not my primary gynecologist —that a bilateral salpingectomy (fallopian tube removal) was being added to the plan. This major change, involving the removal of a reproductive organ, was sprung on me at the most vulnerable moment, leaving absolutely no time to process this significant loss or ensure fully informed consent. It felt as though my fallopian tubes were taken without my proper agreement. A change in procedure of this magnitude must be communicated well in advance, not moments before surgery.

I had an excellent experience at Vitalscan. The whole team was incredibly professional and welcoming from start to finish. The radiographers — Abdo, Mahmoud, and Alice — were absolutely brilliant. Jamie and Safia, the imaging assistants, were also fantastic — so friendly and reassuring throughout. I would not choose Spire as a private patient. The nursing staff were fabulous but the overall experience was poor. I feel that since they now take 80% nhs patients then the overall standards have dropped. After my operation I ordered an evening meal that didn’t materialise and after starving for over 24 hours was able to get a chicken sandwich eventually. The breakfast was quite simply atrocious. Cold scrambled egg, awful tea, toast inedible due to being soggy. I recently had emergency surgery at Taunton NHS hospital and they were far superior to this hospital.

I attended for results of biopsies on my bladder. I felt that he had gone to a lot of trouble to obtain them, as the right equipment was not available in outpatients so I had to be admitted for them to be done in theatre. I was relieved to be told that they did not show any signs of cancer. He was very empathetic and understanding of my problems, and has said I can come back to see him anytime, by contacting his secretary for an appointment.

I had a raised spot on my arm which was diagnosed as actinic keratosis- precancerous cells. GP recommend cream but didn’t want to use due to side effects. Dr Gupta was very professional and had a very caring and kind disposition. She used cryotherapy on the area which was only mildly uncomfortable for a few seconds and then checked the rest of my body for me. Thoroughly recommend and have booked my husband for a body check!
