had a right knee replacement with Mr. Sam Rajaratnam just over two weeks ago on 3rd November 2025, and what I had feared would be a difficult and painful operation turned out to be completely painless. Sam is extremely kind, patient and reassuring — perfect for someone as nervous as I was. I had delayed doing this surgery for a year and a half and even cancelled the operation twice before finally going through with it! Mr. Rajaratnam has built an outstanding team, including an exceptionally experienced anaesthetist, Dr. Barry Philips; a kind and highly competent nurse consultant, Ms. Christine Howis; and an excellent senior physiotherapist, Felicitas Gatti, who visits me at home to guide my post-operative exercises. I was also extremely impressed by all the medical staff at the Cleveland Clinic hospital, who provided exceptional care throughout my stay. Whilst at the Cleveland, Sam visited me daily, and even came in today after my staples were removed to check on my progress. Mr. Rajaratnam’s expertise is evident—he has performed over 7,000 knee replacements—and the level of care and support I received was extraordinary. I was expecting a significant increase in pain once the stronger medication stopped a week after surgery, but to my surprise, I remained completely pain-free. I am extremely grateful to Sam and his wonderful team. I’ll be back for my other knee as soon as I’m up and running again!

I had a lumbar microdiscectomy at St Anthony’s and the care I received was exceptional from start to finish. The staff were incredibly kind, patient and attentive throughout my stay. In the post-operation recovery area, the Irish nurse who looked after me was especially wonderful. I’m so sorry I can’t remember her name — I was still a bit loopy after the anaesthetic — but she was unbelievably kind, gentle and reassuring at a moment when I really needed it. On the ward, Rose was also fantastic. She checked on me regularly, made sure I was comfortable, and was so warm and supportive. Her kindness made the first night after surgery much easier. Overall, the team at St Anthony’s made what could have been a very stressful experience feel calm and safe. I’m really grateful for the care I received and would highly recommend the hospital.

The hospital is run like a well oiled ship. No need to be too early, as you have an appointment time and they will take you at that time. I went 30mins early, which was an extra 30mins of nervousness I brought on myself I could have done without! The staff are friendly and efficient. There are processes in place that give assurance that the hand over from nurse to surgeon and team are strict and everyone is on the same page as to who you are and what you are there for. The recovery was peaceful and friendly. And who doesn’t like toast and a hot cuppa after fasting for hours. My next appointment was delivered by email the very next day. I know I will be nervous going back, but it won’t be because I don’t feel I am in safe hands. Thanks to everyone who looked after me, from reception to consultant and everyone in between.

Dr. Tilottama Nandy asked all the necessary questions before proceeding with the polyp removal and even made some small talk to help put me at ease, which I appreciated. However, the option of local anaesthesia was not discussed beforehand; though before administering it, she did confirm that it was safe during pregnancy. The preparation for the procedure felt lacking, as the anaesthesia and the scalpel/scissors were not readily available. The nurse had to leave to gather these while the speculum was already inserted, which caused additional discomfort that could have been avoided with better readiness. After the procedure, the doctor ensured that I rested for about 10 minutes and checked that there was no excessive bleeding before discharging me, which I found reassuring.

I visited Mr Natt this week after experiencing tightness in my throat. He took the time to ask thorough questions to understand the issue and carried out a nasal endoscopy to investigate further. Throughout the procedure, he explained everything clearly, checked that I was comfortable, and showed genuine concern for my wellbeing. When the issue became visible on the screen, he carefully explained what was happening in a way that put my mind at ease. Mr Natt was kind, professional, and attentive from start to finish. My surgeon was Shohista Saidkasimova and she was really wonderful. She put me at ease during the initial consultation, extremely interested in all my questions and explaining all items of the surgery in layman’s terms. During the operation she asked what kind of music I liked and supplied this in the background, not intrusively but loud enough to provide an excellent distraction. But what really impressed me was the way she interacted with me personally throughout the operation. I have nothing but praise for this lovely lady and would throughly recommend her.
