We are extremely grateful to Dr Shalini Chawla for her care and support through our pregnancy and delivery. We came to her with a complex background — a previous emergency C-section and a very strong desire for a VBAC this time. While some other doctors were hesitant or not fully supportive of this plan, Dr Chawla took the time to understand our priorities and supported us in a thoughtful, evidence-based way. Throughout the pregnancy, there were moments of anxiety and during these times Dr Chawla was always available for us. She guided us calmly and clearly on what to do and when to act, which provided enormous reassurance and prevented unnecessary panic. What stood out most was her flexibility and accessibility, even late at night, which gave us immense reassurance during a very anxious decision-making process. As the pregnancy progressed, plans evolved. VBAC remained our preferred plan throughout, but once we reached our agreed backstop date, we understood that an elective C-section would be required. Even then, discussions continued right up to the night before, with Dr Chawla patiently walking us through the options and ensuring we felt fully supported and informed at every step. Ultimately, we did require an emergency C-section, but Dr Chawla handled the situation with exceptional calm and control. She orchestrated the theatre smoothly, communicated clearly, and the surgery itself was excellent. Recovery has been good, which speaks to the quality of the procedure. Beyond the technical skill, Dr Chawla was consistently reassuring, present, and supportive — both during delivery and afterwards. We never felt rushed or dismissed, and she was always there when we needed guidance or reassurance. We would highly recommend Dr Shalini Chawla - her clinical competence, flexibility, and genuine patient support is rare and deeply appreciated.

Mr Bilal M Barkatali

Having done some research in advance, I opted for a ‘robot assisted total knee replacement’ with Mr Barkatali. He explained everything, answered all my questions and put my mind at rest. My operation went to plan with the excellent staff and service at Spire Manchester. During my post operative appointments with Mr Barkatali he has been professional, knowledgeable and supportive giving good advice and guidance on my recovery journey. After just 4 months my new knee is wonderful, no pain, strong sturdy reliable and dependable. A 64YO male I have been fell walking and hiking already. I have ‘put in the effort’ in doing the physio and I am now reaping the rewards. Mr Barkatali is totally professional with the highest level of skill in his field. I believe he is a perfectionist and strives to give the best result achievable. He also has a great bedside manner, a very nice man. I have no reservation is recommending Mr Barkatali!

I was impressed by the building and my two radiology appointments were combined and seen to earlier than I expected. I waited in the café area, which was roomy and comfortable, until it was time to go to see the consultant. I waited until the appointed time and was seen to on time and very ably. There would have been a long wait for a blood test and CT scan, and I was assured the receptionist would contact me at home about having both the following day at Portland Place. I called the main number in the late afternoon, as I had heard nothing, and the man I spoke to, booked me into Portland Place for the following day. It was a very pleasant experience, and unlike any hospital visit I can remember, as the surroundings were spacious and unintimidating.

Hello I was very upset when the hospital charge me for XRAY in an NHS hospital that we have to be in the queue and don't get the private care. I had a fall in June 2024 and had an operation at RFH unfortunately the operation was not successful. I can't walk properly I am on a stick and have lots of pain. If I go to private is because I don't have any access to NHS but that doesn't mean that for diagnosis I need to pay while me and my family are paying a lot for taxes and don't benefit for our health when we need and are desperate. I also have been to another private consultant to find out what went wrong and if I can ever get better and can walk but they just charge me for consultation not XRAY in an all private clinic. Thank you

Dr Chopra also addressed additional concerns beyond the initial reason for my visit, offering a broader treatment approach, which I appreciated. While I understand that diagnosing multiple issues within a half-hour appointment is challenging, the consultation was helpful and provided the reassurance and confidence boost I was looking for.

Dr Oliver Guttmann showed great professionalism, and an impressive ability to analyse my rather complex medical details. I was most impressed by his meticulous diligence in taking the trouble to review my many files the day before actually seeing me. Not only that, but bringing to my appointment, a complete understanding of all the reports he had evaluated so well. It was quite a display of his medical prowess. That, combined with an accurate and incisive follow-up report which I received the following day, and his friendly manner, make him outstanding in his field.

This man is the first doctor who made me feel like my feelings were valid. He read my profile and memorised everything before I even stepped foot in that room, he’s the first doctor to do this for me in my 18 years of life - over 16 years of this dreadful illness and he was the only doctor to make me feel seen, feel like a human being. To him, all my symptoms mattered, none were too silly or too far fetched. I’ve only seen this man once, but he’s the only doctor I want in the future. I was experiencing tiredness and high fatigue. Dr Sen reviewed my blood results and felt the cause might be insulin resistance especially given my medical history. She was very thorough and ordered further test to ensure my hormones and vitamins were in line. She spent time to explain the medical facts around blood sugar and insulin and her advice on changing my diet has improved my well-being dramatically. I would definitely recommend her as through diet instead of medication I am tackling my health issues and hopefully lowering my risk of getting diabetes.

Having dealt with numerous Doctors so far in regards to my Achilles injury, I was left feeling uncertain and not particularly taken care of. In my opinion Mr. Chahal exceeded expectations. Dr Chris was incredibly knowledgeable, straightforward, and professional. The appointment was for Mum who has profound hearing loss, which can sometimes be a bit of a hurdle any time we visit her GP but with Dr Chris it was no problem at all. He was incredibly patient, very clear in his explanations, and made sure my Mum understood everything that was going on. She left the appointment singing his praises, which has never happened before after a Doctors appointment.

I was discharged following an X-ray. Mr Kapoor examined the scar, questioned me about my recovery and explained the before and after X- rays, also by reference to a model spine. He also advised about further possible improvements in the months ahead. Mr Kapoor has twice operated on my spine. On each occasion I welcomed that he was clear about issues, options and outcomes. He also carried out the surgery soon after the initial consultation.

Time with Mr Nicholls...excellent. However looking back I suspect that wound attention ( especially first special bleeding ) could have been much better had wound been cleaned and re bandaged then as opposed to over bandaging. I feel this would have led to avoiding the lengthly time needed to get recovery back on track during many extra visits.

The nurse was also very lovely and I felt they both took the time to explain the procedure and what they were doing each step of the way. The reception staff are always so welcoming and helpful. My consultant hadnt passed information to the scanning staff even though i asked several times. This resulted in a scan that was pointless and a waste of my money. The whole scanning department looks run down and shabby and the MRI scanner looked out dated compared to others i have used. No privacy in the changing rooms
