I have been very happy with my overall experience at Vision Scotland Edinburgh. The staff were both friendly and professional. I was well informed regarding my choices and the procedure. I have been thrilled with the result of the cataract surgery. I was given an appointment very soon after the referral. I would however like to let you know how I felt the experience on the day of the operation could have been improved. Firstly I was not sent the Post Op information which would have been most helpful to read before the procedure. Secondly I got very cold in theatre and was given a blanket but it did take me ages to warm up. It would have been better to have been given a blanket before the procedure started. There is a lot of cold water being used which does add to the chill. Thirdly I was not told to bring sunglasses for the journey home or to bring analogies both of which I would very much appreciated as I lived over a hour away. On the journey home I became extremely uncomfortable. Finally the roof of my mouth and tongue got a little burnt I think by the coffee as they must have been a little bit anaesthetised still when I had the coffee. The coffee however i have to say was absolutely welcome and the best thing along with the toasted teacake. I found it very reassuring to have a telephone number to call which I did use. I also very much appreciate the phone call from the nurse a couple of days post op. I hope you find the above comments of use. I do not wish to criticise as overall it was an extremely good experience and I would and have already recommended Vision Scotland. ( I did tell my neighbour to ask for a blanket!)

Mr Divyang Shukla

I have been lucky enough to have been treated and operated on before by Mr Shukla,, which was why I asked to be referred to him again. Mr Shukla greeted me smiling and was very friendly. He had taken the time to not only review my scans etc for my current visit, but he had also revisited my notes from my operation back in May 2012, which went very well with no further issues. Mr Shukla had also researched my medications, from my notes regarding my open heart surgery in October 2025. My examination was careful, thorough and sympathetic. The explanation of the outcome from his examination and scans was very good and I understood all that was mentioned, with opportunity to ask equations. I did not feel rushed at all and I left the appointment a very happy man, comfortable and confident in what was said. I would not wish to be seen by another Consultant in relation to my medical issues regarding my shoulder. Thank you Mr Shukla.!

Mr Slavomir Blazej is the surgeon who dealt with my case and performed the major surgery I had on the 8th January 2026. I cannot praise him and the staff highly enough. Everything, leading up to the operation, was clearly and patiently explained. Any questions I had were answered in full detail so I knew and understood exactly what would happen during my treatment and the reasons why. The care and attention I have received has been truly outstanding. The way I was dealt with, the detailed explanations and patience that I received gave me so much confidence. Excellent, truly first class.

Staff at both the receptions were welcoming , No waiting time . Saw the specialist regarding ongoing issues with my knees and toes, and the he was extremely helpful and informative. He took the time to clearly explain what was happening, walking me through the MRI images in a way that was easy to understand. All available options were discussed thoroughly, including injections and physiotherapy, and I felt fully informed throughout the appointment. . Overall, a very positive and supportive experience.

Dr Saagar Mahida

I chose Dr Mahida for my atrial fibrillation ablation for 2 main reasons. 1. He does high volume work and 2. He has excellent patient reviews. As it turned out, it was a superb choice. He is such a nice man, talks calmly and exudes confidence. The operation itself was a success so far, 3 months without A Fib. The incision in the groin was minor and healed very quickly. I felt in safe hands from the moment I met him. A top doctor in every respect. Can’t recommend him highly enough.

Thyroid blood test. Never been before. Autistic so some challeges : a sign on door to push would have helped, it was intimidating, couldn’t get in straight away. An area with reduced lighting to wait would have reduced my overwhelm, was very close to waiting outside. Became very overwhelmed trying to explain which test I had booked, knew there was a fault on the website. Although the situation was rectified satisfactorily, it was still an overwhelming, triggering experience.

At my first consultation,Adam confirmed diagnosis, laid out my options, and then his team made all the necessary arrangements for laparoscopic cholecystectomy at The New Victoria. The surgery was more straightforward than I had expected, and the recovery quicker. From first consultation to final follow up I found Professor Frampton to be professional, clearly very skilled, but also friendly and approachable. Highly recommended .

Alex provided a detailed analysis of my gait and took a 3D scan of my foot to create orthoses customised to me. He also clearly explained what was going on with my ankle and how it can get better, having done a number of tests to pinpoint the issue. Highly recommend Alex for anyone struggling with a foot-related sports injury.

I initially had a terrible experience with another consultant and he reinstated my faith in getting treatment.
